Product Description
From the vantage point of the twenty-first century, Walton revists the houses and stories of their owners who built homes as part of what Walton calls "Tulsa Beautiful." Richly illustrated with more than 300 photographs from the past and present, these pages picture houses that have vanished under the wrecker's ball, to be replaced by new homes. It also shows many that have been restored, the owners creating new beauty from old. Typical of these transformations are the "oil baron mansions" in the Osage Hills, situated on the vast land holdings acquired through a combination of Osage Indian triba allotments and piorneer opportunity in the oil-rich Tulsa of the 1920s. Within these pages are scores of such tales -- of loss and reclamation, happenstance and grace -- all intertwined with the extraordinary domestic architecture of Tulsa, Oklahoma. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Twisted
One Dead Preacher is a great mystery that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.

Sugar Greer is a sexy, smart and mysterious that is married to the preacher that turns up dead.

David is a smooth operator and security ceo that is hired to be Sugar body guard. He falls for Sugar and let her lead him into danger.

Ricky and David is best friends but as Sugar works her magic on both. She has both of them tripping out on each other. One is accusing the other of killing the preacher.

What I like about the book the most is the way Tony Lindsay crafted his style by keeping the mystery going without giving the suspect away. All the twists and turns keeping the characters alive. He brings you into the world of David,Sugar,Ricky,Brother Yazz(Preacher),mother Owens (mother of the preacher),Regina(ex-wife of David)and Martha(wife of Ricky). There is lies, secrets, truth, drugs, sex, murder and jealousy. I'm really looking forward to his next book.

2-0 out of 5 stars For Historical Value Only
Buyer beware. Early editions of Perry Cox's price guides are poor quality, one step up from fanzine style (albeit on coated stock) and are useful only as memorabilia in their own right. The price says it all. I am a purchaser of the 3rd edition, and while I was aware that the prices wouldn't reflect current values (obviously) I was shocked at the poor quality of the reproductions of the Beatles' albums, etc. Like I said, if you're buying this for historical purposes, fine, but go with the newer editions for anything else. The Spizer books are the best in terms of graphic quality, but they are for ID uses only. They're also a bit pricier but worth it in the long run. ... Read more

I truly enjoyed book # 2 of David Price mystery series.I could not put it down. You will be wondering who the killer was the entire time, and I love that about this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the Usual Suspects.
Security professional David Price is back once again with another difficult case. David is thrown into the middle of a dangerous situation when his ex-wife Regina's friend Daphne requests his services to protect her son Stanley. Everything is not what it appears to be as David learns the kind of illegal activity Stanley is involved in. To make matters worse, Regina is planning on marrying a seedy lawyer that wants to adopt their son. David's focus on his family is put off track when a lawyer that he suspects is a murderer turns up dead. Time is running out for David as he tries to solve this crime before it's too late.

One Dead Lawyer is an intriguing novel by Tony Lindsay. Lindsay brought a riveting storyline that was full of emotion and dramatic suspense. Readers will be glued to the pages as this mystery unfolds. You feel the emotion of David as he tries to do what's best for his son and trying to help out a friend in need. This storyline moves so rapidly that it will definitely keep readers on their toes. In every murder mystery, the big question is always "Who did it?" When the murderer is revealed in this story, it's so shocking that you will have to re-read the page in order to believe it. One Dead Lawyer is fast-paced and entertaining. Tony Lindsay has once again created an excellent mystery novel that doesn't disappoint.

Bodyguard for hire, David Price pays dearly in the case of "One Dead Lawyer" by Tony Lindsay. The threat of death or personal lost, real or perceived surrounds Price and he takes it personally and professionally. On a personal level, someone is threatening to take his son through adoption and more importantly, by name.Though it may have been handed down through slavery, all a black man has stripped down is his name.David's professional reputation takes a blow when two clients are shot dead at his doorstep. All of the trials David faces in this book are in the face of "law and order."

This blistering paced novel kept me up late at night and woke me early to get back to it to learn what was going to happen next. There was new intrigue on almost every page and it didn't stop until the very last one.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great historical account
This book and a Google aerial map will just about lay out the Adobe Walls outpost for you perfectly. The account of the battle is very good and coupled with the sketches one can almost smell the black powder smoke. Details of the fight are better than most. The relic dig was good but my interest lay mainly with the conflict. Finally, the picture on the front cover is great. I wonder how he got the name, Antelope Jack ?

5-0 out of 5 stars little know battle
The battle of Adobe Walls is a little known incident that set the "gold standard" for long range shooting. This book is an excellent reference; I really liked it but it may be a little too much in the "scholarly" style forsome readers. If you are interested in shooting or the American West this is a great book for reference and background.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good History Lesson
I was pretty familiar with the history of this subject, but was more interested in the archeological finds. For instance, in the world of shooting today the 50-70 is all but forgotten yet there were more 50-70 cases and cartridges found than any other caliber. The thing about some of the long shots the hunters made during the siege is that the authors point out that the hunters had no doubt tested their prowess at different targets at different distances, so had probably already "marked" many of the shots and distances.Good reference for anyone studying the battle, I am going to the site this summer, and read this as a preface...Ivery

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!
The most in-depth look at the 1874 Adobe Walls post I have found, if you are interested in archaeology, and history of the buffalo hunters site, this is the book for you.The last 3/4 of the book deals with the arch. of the site.First quarter deals with the historical information.Photos of Billy Dixon, J. Wright Mooar, F. J. Leonard, and James N. Hanrahan (operator of the saloon at adobe walls) are included.Photos of many artifacts recovered during arch. excavations, include iron arrow points, grinding stones, iron tools, plate shards, buttons, etc.Great illustrations of the plan layout of the adobe walls site as it was in 1874, as determined by the arch. evidence, including perspective sketches of buildings, and the way each building was constructed.I have nothing but the highest praise for this book and commend the two authors for their publishing the book, as well as A&M press.
