Product Description
Throughout the years the University of Wisconsin football program has provided Badger fans with many memorable moments at Camp Randall Stadium—the running of Heisman Trophy winners Alan “The Horse” Ameche and Ron “The Great” Dayne; the rough-and-tumble days of the ’51 Hard Rocks; ’42 legends like Elroy “Crazy Legs” Hirsch and Dave Schreiner; the Matt Schabert-to-Lee Evans touchdown pass to beat #3-ranked Ohio State in ’03; and the ’81 upset of #1-ranked Michigan. Which moment is the most memorable? Let the great debate begin. The 2005 Wisconsin football season slogan, “Celebrate the Legacy,” is exactly what author Mike Lucas does as he takes an inside look at the players, coaches and teams who make up The 25 Greatest Moments in Camp Randall History. Lucas, who has covered the Badgers in five different decades dating to the late ‘60’s, painstakingly researched each of the greatest moments and has ranked them in order of their importance and impact on the UW progam. Read firsthand accounts from the players and coaches who helped make Camp Randall one of the most difficult places for opponents to play and the # 4-rated college football venue according to a 2004 ESPN ranking. Featuring an impressive collection of color and b/w photos throughout, with forewords by current Badger head coach Barry Alvarez and former Badger football great and athletic director Pat Richter, The 25 Greatest Moments in Camp Randall History promises to be a cherished keepsake for Wisconsin fans everywhere. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars An inside look at the players, coaches and teams
The 25 Greatest Moments In Camp Randall History is a tribute to the University of Wisconsin football program, offering an inside look at the players, coaches and teams. Painstakingly researched by columnist Mike Lucas, who has twice been named Sportswriter of the Year in Wisconsin, The 25 Greatest Moments In Camp Randall History describes each memorable instance in detail, and ranks them in order of their importance and impact on the UW program. Black-and-white and color photographs bring memories of gameplay and competition alive. The 25 Greatest Moments In Camp Randall History is surely the next best thing to attending the #4 rated college football venue (according to ESPN's 2004 ranking) and witnessing a moment in person.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
Mike Lucas has definitely captured the essence of Camp Randall's history.Having been a Badger fan for the better part of three decades, I certainly think he did a terrific job of highlighting the great moments. Some may quibble over the order of the rankings.I personally think that the win over Michigan in '93 was the greatest moment, but in all, the book is fantastic.

A must have for any Badger or Big Ten football fan.Golden Gopher fans not included, if there are such people.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
Just received my copy and sat down and read it all on a Sunday afternoon. The author, Mike Lucas, has covered the Badgers forever and always seems to have some interesting insight into the Badgers program. In this book he has personally covered 20 of the 25 moments. He also talked with the players and coaches from each of the great moments which adds flavor to each of the segments. The book is an oversided hardcover, coffee-table type book that has game photos (many of which are color)from the actual games being featured.

I can't really argue with the list (although I may have included the '93 Michigan win as one of the greatest moments on its own--in the book it ties in with the chapter on the '93 Ohio State tie) as every game that is listed is certainly a great moment.

If you are a University of Wisconsin football fan, you will greatly enjoy this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for the beginning tyer
This book and Kaufman's book on tying nymphs are excellent for the beginner. With step by step instructions and pictures, you will be tying better dry flies in no time.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
This book taught me how to tie flies. The photos are 100% in color, which is abosolutely needed in a fly tying book.Do not buy a fly tying book in black and white! It is nearly impossible to differentiate or even see thethread from the hackle from the rib....

Each fly is tied in approx. 12-20different steps. Randall does not leave any steps out.The book progressesfrom easy to difficult. Randall claims that if you can ties the patternsexplained in detail, then you can tie any dry fly.I think he's right.

Iwent from never tying a fly in my life a year ago to tying 90%+ of my ownflies. Those darn humpies still drive me nuts, although Randall describeshow to ties them in great detail.

Just a warning.I saw his firstedition of the book at a sporting goods store. It is in black and white. Making sure you buy the "Revised" edition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Will leave Barbara Hambly's fans looking eagerly toward the next thrilling installment!
"Anne Steelyard and The Garden of Emptiness, Act II: The Gate of Dreams and Starlight" is the second volume of adventures starring Anne Steelyard, a very independent minded young woman whose is determined to break away from the social strictures of a dominating father and British society to live life on her own terms. An amateur archaeologist in the years just preceding World War I, Anne is caught up in Middle Eastern intrigue as she helps the British intelligence service in finding out what the Turks and the Germans are up to, as well as trying to locate a long lost city of antiquity. A kind of female 'Lawrence of Arabia' combined with the feminine equivalent of an 'Indiana Jones', Anne's action/adventure saga is spiced with the mystical and magical. "Anne Steelyard and The Garden of Emptiness, Act II: The Gate of Dreams and Starlight" is a thoroughly entertaining graphic novel read that will leave Barbara Hambly's fans looking eagerly toward the next thrilling installment!

4-0 out of 5 stars The "Two Towers" of the Steelyard trilogy
The second installment continues the story begun in the first. The action takes place far away from the cities of Constantinople and Damascus of the first part. Now we have Anne deep in the desert on her quest for the lost city of Miyah.

The story is fast paced and can be easily read in one sitting, indeed it's hard to put down. I love what I've read so far. I only hope the payoff is up to par.

I have one major complaint which drops my rating to 4 stars. It is sometimes difficult to follow the story. There are a number of dream/mystical experiences and it is sometimes not clear where these end and reality takes over. Also there are more than a few developments that confused me. For example why did the vizier suddenly vomit?

Physically, the book is printed on a thinner stock of paper than the first installment. The paper also is coated to give it a slick feel. I prefer the previous paper but reproduction does not seem to have suffered at all. The artwork is gorgeous. Also, the font changes to cue the reader that a language other than English is being spoken. One could have wished for a different cue as that font is not quite so easy on the eyes as the "English" font, but no big deal.

Finally, this book should not be read without reading the first installment. There is a two page summary but it really isn't adequate. I anticipate the final installment with great hopes but it's probably a year away. ... Read more
