Excerpt: Elvis Aaron (or Aron) Presley (January 8, 1935 August 16, 1977) was one of the most popular American singers of the 20th century. A cultural icon, he is widely known by the single name Elvis. He is often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll" or simply "the King". Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, Presley moved to Memphis, Tennessee, with his family at the age of 13. He began his career there in 1954 when Sun Records owner Sam Phillips, eager to bring the sound of African American music to a wider audience, saw in Presley the means t...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=9288 ... High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! "Walk on the Wild Side" is a Lou Reed song from his 1972 second solo album Transformer. It was produced by David Bowie. The song received wide radio coverage, despite its touching on taboo topics such as transsexuality, drugs, male prostitutes and oral sex and the term "colored" to refer to African Americans, a term which was still common in that era.It is usually regarded as Reed's best-known solo work. The song reached #16 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and #10 in the UK. In 2003, the song was ranked #221 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. ... Read more

Product Description
Lewis Allan "Lou" Reed (born March 2, 1942) is an Americanrock musician best known as the guitarist, vocalist andprincipal songwriter of The Velvet Underground as well as asuccessful solo artist whose career has spanned severaldecades. The Velvet Underground gained little mainstreamattention during their career, but became one of the mostinfluential bands of their era. As the Velvet Underground'smain songwriter, Reed wrote about subjects of personalexperience that rarely had been examined so openly in rockand roll, including a variety of sexual topics and drugculture. As a guitarist, he was a pioneer of many guitareffects including distortion, high volume feedback, andnonstandard tunings. Reed began a long and eclectic solocareer in 1971. He had a hit the following year with "Walkon the Wild Side", although for more than a decade heevaded the mainstream commercial success its chart statusoffered him. Reed's work as a solo artist has frustratedcritics wishing for a return of The Velvet Underground. ... Read more

Samyro; April 16 1896December 25, 1963) was a Romanian and French avant-garde poet, essayist and performance artist. Also active as a journalist, playwright, literary and art critic, composer and film director, he was known best for being one of the founders and central figures of the anti-establishment Dada movement. Under the influence of Adrian Maniu, the adolescent Tzara became interested in Symbolism and co-founded the magazine Simbolul with Ion Vinea (with whom he also wrote experimental poetry) and painter Marcel Janco. During World War I, after briefly collaborating on Vinea's Chemarea, he joined Janco in Switzerland. There, Tzara's shows at the Cabaret Voltaire and Zunfthaus zur Waag, as well as his poetry and art manifestos, became a main feature of early Dadaism. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent musicianship and singing.
shortly after warhol died, lou reed and john cale collaborated on what was originally intended to be a 'requiem for andy warhol', but the sensitivities to warhol's death forced a change in title to 'songs for drella', andy's nickname, to avoid using the warhol name, everyone was so uptight and paranoid.it's an excellent small opera about the life and times of warhol, bad times, good times, and work times.it's a little brechtish (a good thing)with a really thoughtful libretto and a hard/soft rock sound.definitly a worthy product.get the video if you can. ...
