Product Description

Rex is a terrible speller, and she's afraid she's going to embarrass herself in front of the whole class at today's spelling bee. Pinky, on the other hand, is a great speller, and he's sure he's going to be champion of the second grade again.

But Pinky isn't counting on the new kid in class, who's a great speller, too. And he's certainly not counting on embarrassing himself in a way so terrible that winning or losing doesn't even matter. It's a good thing he can count on Rex to make him feel better on the worst day of his life. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Pinky gets embarrassed!
This book is about a boy named Pinky, who gets embarrassed by something that happens at school. Pinky's best friend Rex promises Pinky that she will never break the promise by telling the secret of what happens. You have to read the book to find out if the promise is broken.
I liked this book alot, because sometimes things happen at school that embarrass you, and it is great to have a best friend to help you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Poor Pinky
Pinky peed his pants and i feel bad for him but, i love the story! im 11 and im reading level 3 books, okay... LOL

1-0 out of 5 stars not funny
I feel so bad for pinky it must be so embarrasing to actually wet your pants. I read this book and second grade and I hated it. Having accidents in school is not funny to read about.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Pinky peed!"
I can't believe I'm the first customer to review this Pinky and Rex book.My boys think this is the funniest book of the year:Pinky actually pees his pants in school! There's a puddle and everything.Funny realistic dialogue. If your kids think pee-pee is funny (and don't all kids?), they'll LOVE this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Subtitle and from the front flap
Subtitle: Three Decades of Champions

From the front flap: Top international tennis reporter and author, Rex Ballamy, draws together here affectionate - and not so affectionate - remembrances of players past and present who, through their achievements, personalities and playing styles have captured the public's imagination.
From Natase's breathtaking audacity and McEnroe's blend of brilliance and belligerence to the cool, poised professionalism of Borg and Evert, Bellamy vividly evokes the magic and drama of modern tennis and the players around the world we know and love - or love to hate. He conveys the pure pleasure of watching stylists like Panatta and Goolagong; his admiration for the feats of Connors, King and Navratilova; and his affection for a host of great players whose fluctuating fortunes we have eagerly followed, from Laver and Rosewall to Chang and Sanchez.

Beginning with a brief biographical sketch, each of the thirty portraits offers a shrewd and stimulating assessment of its subject's career, character and technique. Great matches are recalled in all their agonizing excitement, key games and points relived. At the same time, Rex Ballamy captures the individual flavour of different periods over the last thirty years, with fascinating sidelights on famous players who could not be given seperate essays - Pietrangeli, Roche, Bueno, Durr and others.

Rex Bellamy has known personally each of the champions he writes about, and his portraits, are enlivened by many revealing anecdotes. Illustrated with action photographs, Love Thirty is a book that will delight all tennis enthusiasts, both as an armchair reference companion and as a vivid, entertaining celebration of the greatest names in the modern game. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible movie
This is the sort of film that one cannot exactly say one has enjoyed -- but nonetheless one has sat rivited from beginning to end.The only word for this movie is "brilliant."I got a feeling for how alien and strange the ancient civilization must have been.Usually, in presentations of the classics, everything just seems like present day folks wearing costumes -- but not this film.Filmed in North Africa, it just blew me and my family away!If you like the classics, you will love this movie.Having said that, of course it has the usual Pasolini eccentricities.Be forewarned. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I am very critical of poorly written, trite books. This book is clearly not that!Very fresh, funny, entertaining, and fun!I am a new fan of Mac Barnett. My daughter loved this book! Please keep them coming Mac (we want to see a whole series of these books!)

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book with nonstop adventure!
Need a good summer read? Try The Case fo the Mistaken Identity by Mac Barnett. It's a great mystery with nonstop action featuring young Steve Brixton who has a national treasure to find, secret agent bad guys to outwit and cops who want to get their cuffs on him. There are plenty of laughs, secret passages and funny disguises along with the thrills in this fun book! As a fan of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, I loved the references to the Bailey Brothers and the old fashioned type pictures.

2-0 out of 5 stars A Hardy Boys wanna be.
I really wanted to like this book. From the blurb that tells about the book on the inside cover, it sounded like a great read. Well, I was wrong.

The Plot: Steve is an amature detective, and a darn good one. When he has to do a school report on something he doesn't want to do one on, his life soon changes, and not for the best.Soon, the government, and ninja librarians are after him. They think that he's a super spy on a dangerous mission for the invisible Mr. E.Steve has to rely on his skills as a detectiveand his knowledge of the The Brixton Brothers mysteries to help him. That's all I really want to say on the plot. I don't want to give to much away.

This book falls short on so many levels.First, Barnett has a strange writing style. He uses a lot of parentheses when he writes, and it's very distracting. He'll be going along (then have something like this) then continue with the story. As I said, it's very distracting and annoying. He also used, "aka" a lot. For example, "Carol aka my mother"this is done many times at the start, and it grew on my nerves.

I also didn't like the main bad guy. When you find out who the bad guy is, and why they did what they did, I found that very weak and sort of a cop out.It was just over the top silly.

If you have boys that you want to get hooked on reading, then I'd say start with this series. I'm sure they'll love it.I do plan to tell my students about this series. For me, it just falls short.

This is just a Hardy Boys wannabe.

5-0 out of 5 stars hilarious - a page turner...
my 9 year old and I adored this book - we couldn't read it fast enough and she can't wait until tomorrow to tell her friends/class about this "MUST READ!"

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you Mac Barnett!
My 10 year old son isn't one to get into a book. Not for lack of my trying: I've got a huge children's library and have introduced lots of different genres. "The Brixton Brothers" is a GEM. My son devoured it like nothing since "Skinnybones".A perfect combination of action, adventure, and humor, "The Case of the Case of Mistaken Identity" is an engaging read for 3-5th graders. The brillant tounge-in-cheek humor and great story line makes this a kind of "National Treasure" -like entertainment. We look forward to many more!!! From this first installment, I would characterize "The Brixton Brothers" as: Barbara Park's take on "The Hardy Boys" with a "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" spin." Love it. ... Read more
