5-0 out of 5 stars Wise choice in vendors.
This simplified book of songs from the movie "Road to El Dorado" was an excellent purchase at about $5.00 (from the right vendor). Big, colorful pages from the movie itself. Songs are "easy play" so they are not always in voice-friendly keys. Nice companion piece to the charming animated feature with historical overtones.

4-0 out of 5 stars Practice makes Gold and Glory
This easy-to-read piano/vocal score is the perfect addition to any animation or Elton Fan's collection. With the level of "Easy Piano" anyone can use this wonderful score. With such titles as "El Dorado" and "Some day out of the Blue" (main theme from El Dorado) you'll spend hours of fun practicing or even performing these Spanish/mediteranian/rock tunes. Included with the scores are lush tropical snapshots from the film as well as 3 full page spread original landscapes. A must for Dreamworks fans. Full list of Scores:

5-0 out of 5 stars book review
The book was thrilling, and completely fasenating. It was in good condition and I am very pleased by the seller.

5-0 out of 5 stars Taltos
This Anne Rice series on the Mayfair Witches was awesome. At first I wasn't going to read the last book but OMG I'm so glad I did.It really brought it all together.

4-0 out of 5 stars The series continues to fascinate.
I disagree with the many other reviews which opine that this book is not any good. I continued to enjoy the tales contained in both Lasher and Taltos, and do not think that they detract from the excellent narrative that is The Witching Hour.I like that Rice has created an entirely new species about which to write, having possibly exhausted vampire lore. I am fascinated by the Taltos and extremely interested in reading about them further.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
The book arrived in good order and is a terrific read. the second in the trilogy of the Mayfair Witches.Anne Rice has a dreamy quality to her story telling which I find facinating , the depth of the plot is a `can`t-put-it-down factor .

5-0 out of 5 stars Yay Anne Rice!
What a great book! I would suggest reading the interview with a vampire series first because they get you really interesting in the taltos and make these a more interesting read. I have come to realize that Anne Rice's books are more of a winter read, when you have time to sit and really think about it because her writing is so involved. ... Read more

The Witching Hour
The first of the Mayfair Witch triology. This is the complex history of the mysterious Mayfair family through centuries of their tangled existence with a demonic spirit, a spirit that has brought them power and terrible tragedy. At the center of the novel is Rowan Mayfair, the heir to the Mayfair fortune, who must face her family's mysterious past and her own strange powers.

Lasher
The sequel to the Witching Hour. It's the story of Rowan Mayfair, the queen of the Mayfairs, who is held spellbound by the demon Lasher, the same demon who has lured the Mayfair women for centuries, and her escape from his demonic spell with their child. Through her escape and the cast of characters, demon and angel, mortal and immortal, the novel journeys across the globe and across the centuries.

Taltos

2-0 out of 5 stars Not thrilled with abridgements
This collection is advertised as unabridged, and that is just false.I haven't been too happy with the abridgements, nor with the readers, especially the reader for Lasher.I remember loving these books when reading them, but the audio version is just so-so with the abridgements. If I were you, I would buy the books if it is at all possible.

3-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful books, but lousy version
This abridged audio version is good in some select parts, but laughable in many places. The way they've cut things is just pathetic.Read the books or find an unabridged version, please! These tapes are good if you've read the books and just want to listen to something familiar on a long drive or something, but not if you want to understand the characters. The tapes skip most of the family's history and the beautiful historic descriptions of locations, especially the house (which is SO important), and also skips most of the sex scenes (which I actually didn't mind too much, but I thought it was hysterical). Please, please, please, PLEASE find a better version than these tapes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easily..
Easily these books are my favorite of Anne Rice. With the exception of a few others. The way they are written takes you where they are... its takes you inside their minds and you can understand exactly what they feel. The witching hour is the best i think because its more of the the history of the witches.. the rest are more about the taltos.. but they are still excellent. I've grown to love the characters and I want to read more. lol. cant wait for more witch books. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Mayfair Witches
I have truely enjoyed the witch series, and do look forward to the next book to come out in this series. Both the witch series, and the vampire series are so spell binding that you feel like you are actually there, and living life or unlife with them. You are caught up in the spells, romance, and love of they're lives as they are. I want to thank Anne Rice for each of these series, they are as masterly written from the first word, as they are to the last one, and from book to book. Again I Thank you, and do look forward to the next books to come out in either of your series.Respectfully A Devoted FanMarianne Alderson ... Read more

Product Description
Together for the first time on CD are three powerful and alluring stories of New Orleans’ Dynasty of witches, The Mayfair Witches.

Lasher, read by Joe Morton
At the heart of this extraordinary saga is Rowan Mayfair’s attempt to escape the evil spell and vision of the darkly compelling demon, Lasher, and his pursuit of her and their terrifying and exquisite child. It is a novel that moves around the globe, backward and forward through time, and between the human and demonic worlds.

The Witching Hour, read by Lindsay Crouse
The epic of the Mayfair witches begins when Rowan Mayfair pulls the drowned body of Michael Curry from the sea and brings him back to life. She is aware that she possesses special powers, but unaware that she comes from a great dynasty of withces. He, in his brief interlude with death, has acquired sendsory abilities that mystify and frighten him. Fiercely drawn to each other, the two fall in love and set out to solve the mystery of her past and his unwelcome gift.

Taltos, read by Tim Curry
Meet Mr. Ash, quiet spoken, tall, unfailingly kind–sole survivor of an ancient species, the Taltos–thriving among humankind as he has always done, head of a great corporate empire. As the novel opens, he is stunned to learn from and old and mysterious friend that another Taltos has been seen. At once he is propelled into the world of Rowan Mayfair, into the mysteries of the Mayfair family–a family initimately involved with the heritage of the Taltos. ... Read more

The American and Florence/Nobody's Side
Chess
Mountain Duet
Embassy Lament
Anthem
Bangkok/One Night in Bangkok
Heaven Help My Heart

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent album
Excellent representation of the show "Chess".Much better than the Broadway Original Cast album.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Selections Book for A Unique Musical
After listening to Chess for over a few years I finally decided to go in search for a Vocal Selections book that would give me some of the great songs featured in the musical. What I found was quite a surprise. It should be noted however that this selections book is based on the 1984 London Concept Album, not the Broadway. The book itself features 13 selections from the aforementioned article.

The songs themselves are piano arrangements with the vocal top line from the songs. The vocal top lines are kept intact from what is heard in the recordings in all the vocal solos. The actual piano accompaniments mimic the full score quite well. The arrangement for 'Pity the Child' in particular stood out.It should be noted that there is one selection called 'Chess' that has been arranged for piano. And the introduction to 'One Night in Bangkok' known as 'Bangkok' has also been arranged for piano. The duets from the musical are also featured.'You and I' being a personal favorite and for the women 'I Know Him So Well' has also been included. And if you have four singers you can also perform Quartet (A Model of Decorum and Tranquility) with all four parts intact.

The only drawbacks to this book.Well the first could be that unlike most Vocal Selections/Selections book there is not much information on the show.Secondly, for those familiar with the Broadway version of the show the beautiful song 'Someone Else's Story' is not featured. And lastly for anyone who has seen the London version of the show or heard the Chess In Concert CD, the great song 'The Soviet Machine' is not included.

Overall a very comprehensive selections book that should be in any singers collection. The selections taken from the album include: 'Merano', 'Where I Want To Be', 'Quartet (A Model Of Decorum and Tranquility)', 'The American & Florence/Nobody's Side', 'Chess', 'Mountain Duet', 'Embassy Lament', 'Anthem', 'Bangkok/One Night In Bangkok', 'Heaven Help My Heart', 'I Know Him So Well', 'Pity the Child' and 'You and I'. ... Excerpt: "I Don't Know How to Love Him" is a song from the 1970 rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar written by Andrew Lloyd Webber (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics), a torch ballad sung by the character of Mary Magdalene who in Jesus Christ Superstar is presented as bearing an unrequited love for the title character. I Don't Know How to Love Him is among the highest profile songs to originate in a late twentieth century stage musical. "I Don't Know How to Love Him" had originally been published with different lyrics in the autumn of 1967, the original title being "Kansas Morning." In December 1969 and January 1970, when Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice completed Jesus Christ Superstar, Rice wrote new lyrics to the tune of "Kansas Morning" to provide the solo number for the character of Mary Magdalene (Rice and Webber's agent David Land would purchase the rights to "Kansas Morning" back from Southern Music for £50). Now entitled "I Don't Know How to Love Him", the song was recorded by Yvonne Elliman which was completed between March and July 1970. (When first presented with "I Don't Know How to Love Him", Elliman had been puzzled by the romantic nature of the lyrics, as she was under the misapprehension that the Mary she'd been recruited to portray was the Blessed Virgin.)
