The book came on time and great condition but the only reason i returned it was only because it didn't come with the mymathlab which i really needed. i felt it would be too much money to purchase the book and have to purchase the mymathlab code separtely.Over all that was my only problem. As for amazon they handled my return with no problems or hassle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Money Well Spent
I bought this book for $.17 (yes, 17 cents) here on Amazon for a U o Phoenix MTH/212 class and the book worked out great, made an A in the class!

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!!!!
THE SELLER NEVER SHIPPED THE ITEM AND HAS NOT RESPONDED TO ANY OF MY THREE ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Reference Book
When I found I needed to take a prealgebra class for nursing, I looked for the best reference book to accompany the Lial, Hestwood Prealgebra textbook. The title of another $30 book (Study Skills) caught my eye, but turned out to be a waste of money. This Solutions Manual, though, is everything I hoped it would be to help me get the most out of the class. spend your money instead on the Student's Solutions Manual by Jeffrey Cole. The Solutions Manual demonstrates how to do every problem in the textbook, not just provides the answers. This is not to shortcut homework; it is to be consulted/referred to after you have given your best effort, and to keep students on track. It is an outstanding reference book to accompany the text. ... Read more

Product Description
The Lord loves a cheerful giver—that's what the Bible says. And who wouldn't be cheerful if he thought a hundredfold return was on its way? Dr. Bright shows readers what real dynamic giving is—not the kind that seeks an earthly return, but the kind that brings joy from the sheer thrill of helping others! That is the kind of giving that is dynamic—it keeps on giving. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A critical review: Finding my way
Finding my way is a beautifully written book representing John Schneider's comprehensive description of the transformative model of grief.Schneider has the ability to connect with the reader, capturing the essence of the grieving process in a manner that resonates with one's individual story.Schneider's writing style incorporates the use of rich metaphors which is so lacking in the traditional approach commonly used in texts for health care professionals. As a clinician and educator,I have found this book to be an invaluable resource for myself, clients in psychotherapy, and students.Clients have found this model extremely helpful in normalizing and validating their own grieving process, in providing a frame for reflecting on their own journey, and in offering hope for the future.Students have appreciated Schneider's comprehensive approach, his writing style, and rich anecdotal material. As a personal and professional resource, this book should be on the shelves of every healthcare professional, caregiver and layperson who is interetsed in better understanding the multidimentional experience of grief. It is a resource that one will go back to over and over again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book to Accompany One on a Journey into Grief
This book introduces a fresh and unique approach on the subjects of loss, grieving, and healing. It redefines the grieving process for those who choose to take the journey. Transformation awaits each who embraces his/her own grief. The author shares his personal journey of loss and grief and how it transformed his life; freeing him to accompany his clients on their unique journeys into their personal losses, subsequent grief, and their individual transformations. The book is quite readable and includes a Life Change Inventory self test, as well as a Response to Loss Inventory.Information is also included about Integra, The Association for Integrative and Transformative Grief. I would highly recommend this book for professionals, as well as laypersons. If you are in the midst of grief, the book might seem overwhelming with its in depth information....finding a health care provider who is familiar with the concepts in this book can temper this and help to guide you through the process, arriving at your own transformation.Dr. Schneider has recently written two new books that speak more to the layperson and may prove less intimidating if you are in the process of grieving. These books are:Grief's Wisdom, Quotes for Understanding the Transformative Process and The Overdiagnosis of Depression, Recognizing Grief and Its Transformative Potential.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent resource, highly recommended
Finding My Way offers an in-depth look at the dynamics of responding to grief. The author takes seriously the inevitabilities of change, loss, and subsequent grief; and also conveys the hopeful possibilities for growth and transformation that grief invites. The book is rich in description and analysis and, at the same time, very respectful of the deeply individualistic journey through grief. In my work as a grief educator, I like and use the author¹s helpful discussion of grieving as a discovery process: discovering what is lost, what is left, and what is possible. This is a book I return to often, both professionally and personally.

Excerpt: "Are You Lonesome To-night?," now often known as "Are You Lonesome Tonight?," is a popular song with music by Lou Handman and lyrics by Roy Turk. It was first published in 1926, and most notably revived by Elvis Presley in 1960. A number of artists recorded "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" in 1927. Composer Lou Handman himself played piano while his sister Edith provided the vocals for a recording released on the Gennett label. Vaughn DeLeath (also known as "The Original Radio Girl") recorded the song twice, first on June 13, as solo and later on September 21, as vocalist for The Colonial Club Orchestra. Around August 1927, another version was released by famed tenor Henry Burr. The first charting version of "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" was recorded by Blue Barron for MGM Records as catalog number 10628. The record first reached the Billboard pop chart on April 7, 1950 and lasted eight weeks there, peaking at number nineteen. Only a few weeks after Barron's recording, Al Jolson recorded a version of the song on April 28, 1950; it was released by Decca Records as catalog number 27043. In 1959 American songstress Jaye P. Morgan had a Billboard #65 hit with it on the MGM label, backed by "Miss You". Elvis Presley must have heard it while he was in the army in Europe, as he also heard and was inspired by other songs like "O Sole Mio" and "Return To Sorrento", which he made into hits on his return in 1960. This led to the best-known recording, by Elvis Presley, recorded on April 4, 1960, and engineered by Nashvi...http://booksllc.net/?id=3126212 ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for NON-Algebra folks
Perfect book for what it was designed to do - get you though Algebra. Not a lover of Algebra, I found this book to be helpful with a lot of additional information to make understanding of the concepts less painful! I keep it around as a reference book now for those times that you actually do need Algebra in the real world!

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible...of course it is required
I have a degree in Computer Info Systems and I wanted to go back and get my Masters in Comp Sci...sooooo... here I am.
Is it the teacher, or the book, or both? The teacher has assigned problems from the book in advance. You go home and you have the problem, and the answers for the odd numbers in the back, and no idea how to do 85% of the assigned problems because there is no example anywhere to be found.I'm not sure how learning is supposed to occur during this process?
The sections in this book before the problems do a few basic examples, then they have dozens of problems far FAR more advance and cryptic.Which leave the student baffled as to how they got the answer. No learning.I've had college algebra before, but this is by far the most difficult book I've ever seen on the subject. It would take me about a month working every night to cover 1 chapter, and we cover 1 chapter a week in the class.
I am reading a Calculus book that is far easier to understand than this.
This book should be renamed to:Algebra for the expert mathematician professional.

The pages rip very easily also.

4-0 out of 5 stars Review
I was extremly pleased, with my purchase. The book was in great condition and arrived quickly.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book is why people hate math.
If you're hoping to do well in your mathematics course or just learn math on your own time, you've chosen the wrong book.

The sections provide very little lead-in, and are filled with a few examples, which may or may not help you do the homework problems at the end of the section. Many times you will find formula notation different from the standard that all other textbooks use, so if you move onto the next level of math, you will see entirely new (Easier) ways of learning the material.

This book only works sufficiently if you've been through precalculus/calculus sequence already and are looking for just a quick cheap refresher on some algebra, which is probably why it is appealing to college professors. If purchasing a different book is an option for you, go for Blitzer or Larson's Precalculus text.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Thorough Book
I am teaching from this book this summer, and I have not had the problems that other reviewers have described. This book is written for people with a pretty good understanding of high school algebra - after all, it is a college algebra book.It is not watered down at all, and the material is presented in some depth. However, I have found that this book does a really good job of warning students about common mistakes.I have found it clear (I can't say that for every algebra book I've used.) and my students have not complained, either.I would use this book again. ... Excerpt: Theodore Nesser Jr. was a professional football player-coach in the "Ohio League" and the early National Football League. During his career he played mainly for the Columbus Panhandles, however he did also play for a little for the Massillon Tigers, Akron Indians, Canton Bulldogs and the Shelby Blues. He was also a member of the Nesser Brothers, a group consisting of seven brothers who made-up the most famous football family in the United States from 1907 until the mid-1920's. Ted was the first Nesser to make money at football, playing for Massillon's state championship teams in 1904, 1905 and 1906. Ted was considered the toughest of the Nesser brothers. In 1906, he reputedly ended the career of Willie Heston, a former Michigan All-American, with a hard tackle in a Massillon Tigers-Canton Bulldogs game. In 1908, Ted reputedly stayed for a game with two broken bones protruding from an arm, just because he thought that his brothers needed him. Nesser was also reported to have had broken his nose at least eight times. He was also considered a football genius and is credited with originating several plays including the triple pass, the criss-cross and the short kickoff. These plays became popular in the college game of that day. None of the Nesser brothers attended college. However in 1909, Texas A ... Read more

Excerpt: Ted Thompson (born January 17, 1953, in Atlanta, Texas) is the current general manager of the NFL's Green Bay Packers franchise. Thompson was named to the post on January 14, 2005 by Packers president and CEO Bob Harlan. Thompson took over the general manager duties from Mike Sherman who had been serving as both head coach and general manager. Prior to becoming the Packers' general manager, Thompson served with the Seattle Seahawks as their vice president of operations from 2000 to 2004. Thompson had previously worked for the Packers organization from 1992 to 1999, serving as their assistant director of pro personnel in 1992, their director of pro personnel from 1993 to 1997, and as their director of player personnel from 1997 to 1999. Thompson also had a 10 year playing career in the NFL as a linebacker and special teams player with the Houston Oilers from 1975 to 1984. Ted Thompson was signed by the Houston Oilers as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Methodist University in 1975. Thompson won a spot as a back-up linebacker and special teams player and held this position for 10 years. Although Thompson only started eight games during his career, he proved durable playing in 146 of 147 games. Thompson worked in Seattle along with former Packers and Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren. During Thompson's five seasons in Seattle, the Seahawks advanced to the playoffs twice. In 2005, following Thompson's departure to the Packers, the Seahawks had their best success in team history, reaching the Super Bowl. Thompson replaced Mike Sherman as general manager of the Packers in 2005. W...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=4514028 ... Read more
