4-0 out of 5 stars Sharing the Energy
I took this book with me on vacation and could not put it down. The myriad of issues addressed, the strategical methods used, the feelings of urgency, frusteration, anger, betrayal, sadness, hope, humility and empowerment leapt from the pages. I have 6 other books on my night stand that I just can't seem to get through...but this one, I'm ready to read again!

Rick's inspiring personal journey illustrates how a small drop of water can have great impacts. His energy and passion is contagious and hopefully moves others to action.

Rick Schroder's book Finding the Energy is a challenging auto-biographical journey that will move readers like few books do. The book is a must-read for all managers and human resource staff in any business environment. He presents great life-lessons for everyone. It is rare to have a raw, honest, opportunity to walk in someone else's shoes, see the world through their eyes, and gain a new perspective on oneself along the way. Anyone who has ever felt marginalized in society will relate to some or all of the stories shared. The compelling stories of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender experiences show both the great differences that exist within our own culture, and the great similiarities in our common human conditions. Finding the energy to read this book was easy; be sure to share the energy with others. We bought copies of this for relatives, friends and co-workers!

5-0 out of 5 stars Rich and engaging!
Finding the Energy: a must-read for every manager, every leader of any sexual identity and sexual orientation.Rick Schroder tells the story of his life in corporate America, with honesty, insight, and a wicked sense of humor!I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and learned from it....... valuable lessons about working effectively in an organization, while trying to influence its culture, lessons about when to collaborate and when to act independently, when to confront and when to remain silent. Good book to read, and to give to others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Coming out of the closet....
Finding the Energy: Coming Out in Corporate America by Rick Schroder discusses the emotional toll of coming out of the closet. He shares his own struggle.

Sexual orientation should not have anything to do with a person's career. I've worked with opening gay men. Both were proficient at their job. No one ever treated them any different. Mr. Schroder situation may have been much differently. It could have been because of the organization he worked for.

This book will bring greater understanding of the life of an openly gay man. It is written with great dignity, self-respect and pride. I highly recommend this book for HR, Corporate officers and others interested in this topic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very insightful
Rick Schroder's book, "Finding the Energy:Coming Out in Corporate America" tells readers--regardless of sexual orientation, race, gender, age, status in business or society--just how much courage, emotion and insight into oneself is required to come out and begin life as an openly gay man. It's impossible to read this book without gaining an understanding of his struggles and his intense desire to accomplish this process with dignity and a growing sense of self-esteem and self-respect.I was fully engaged and increasingly moved by the inner strength Rick displays as I accompanied him on his journey.
