5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT GUIDE FOR DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP SKILLS.
This book stands out among the many on the subject of leadership by providing a clear framework of 5 dimensions (tools), each with strategic objectives and appropriate contexts for their application. The dimensions are further made applicable by specific core building blocks (actions to take), made more meaningful by distinguishing between the intention behind the action and the manner in which it is carried out.Numerous tools are provided to help the reader develop leadership competencies, flexibly using the 5 dimension framework. Central to the authors' approach is the use of dimensions to suit specific situations; chapter 8 provides an overview of seven common business contexts and their appropriate leadership dimensions. The book also helps you identify the size of the gaps between leadership dimensions you have and those your current context requires; the next chapter offers a four-step process for overcoming large gaps. The authors also explore ways to apply your strengths in unique ways that fit the demands of your business/organizational context. This is a highly valuable book that is well written and organized. It may be extremely useful not only for those who want to strengthen their leadership skills, but for those who train and coach others in the art of effective leadership. Very highly recommended.

This book combines economic theory and design to create tools that economists can use to apply in social, political and institutional application.  This book seeks to provide the necessary stepping stones in order to facilitate the diffusion and adoption of this powerful tool for studying incentive structures in economics.  The book presents a number of examples, both theoretical and real-life. It also has a chapter that samples the literature that tests mechanisms away from the blackboard, in laboratories and the real world.

Product Description
Since World War II, America's economic landscape has undergone a profound transformation. The effects of this change can be seen in the decline of the traditional industrial heartland and the emergence of new high tech industrial complexes in California, Texas, Boston, and Florida. The Rise of the Gunbelt demonstrates that this economic restructuring is a direct result of the rise of the military industrial complex (MIC) and a wholly new industry based on defense spending and Pentagon contacts. Chronicling the dramatic growth of this vast complex, the authors analyze the roles played by the shift from land and sea warfare to aerial combat in World War II, the Cold War, the birth of aerospace and the consequent radical transformation of the airplane industry, and labor and major defense corporations such as Boeing, Lockheed, and McDonnell Douglas. Exploring the reasons for the shifts in defense spending--including the role of lobbyists and the Department of Defense in awarding contracts--and the effects on regional and national economic development, this comprehensive study reveals the complexities of the MIC. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Nice but not too nice
I bought this book thinking that there would be more artists that I knew in this book.I only knew a few and so many were the anime artists, I didn't care for it.I would have preferred more main stream artists helping out with the chores.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Much Worth the Money
As a tremendous fan of the series, I highly recommend this book. Not just for fans, but even people who aren't familiar with the series or who just love horror and fantasy. I showed it to my family and they were absolutely blown away with the quality of the art in this book. I even inspired one of my cousins to seek out prints of all of the art pieces! She's become quite a fan of the series =]. Although I didn't purchase the soft cover (I have the hardback), and though it was about $60 more than this version, I can completely say that it was worth every single penny to own such a delightful book that is an ode to one of my favorite series and titles in all of media.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great collectors piece
Great compilation of Artists work regarding the Darkstalkers line of characters. It has a extended variety of styles n works that give a fresh new face to characters that have been around for some time now. The book quality is beautiful, and each page is brilliantly finished to give more appeal to the art within. Product Description

One of the most significant and obvious examples of how mobile communication influences our understanding of time and space is how we coordinate with one another. Mobile communication enables us to call specific individuals, not general places. Regardless of location, we are able to make contact with almost anyone, almost anywhere. This advancement has changed, and continues to change, human interaction. Now, instead of agreeing on a particular time well beforehand, we can iteratively work out the most convenient time and place to meet at the last possible moment on the way to the meeting or once we arrive at the destination.

In their early days, mobile devices were primarily used for various types of emergency situations and for work. In some cases, the device was an essential element in various business operations or used so that overseas workers could communicate with their families. The distance between a remote posting and the people back home was suddenly and dramatically reduced. People began to share these devices not necessarily out of economic issues, but also questions of family and interpersonal dynamics.

This cutting-edge book deals with modern ways of thinking about communication and human interaction; it will illuminate the ways in which mobile communication alters our experience with space and time.

Rich Ling is a sociologist at Telenor’s research institute near Oslo, Norway and has been Pohs Visiting Professor of Communication at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is the author of New Tech, New Ties: How Mobile Communication is Reshaping Social Cohesion and The Mobile Connection: The Cell Phone’s Impact on Society.

Scott W. Campbell is assistant professor and Pohs Fellow of Telecommunications in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Michigan. 3-0 out of 5 stars Small stories that don't add up to much
Since his Dirty Pair stories in the 80s, Adam Warren has remained one of the freshest and most original voices in American comics. Some of his work on Gen 13 was the best the series ever had, it really explored the flaws and psyches of the team. But this book really is not his best work.

It's a collection of small stories, most with some good character moments but generally nothing special. The first story Meanwhile is a group of 2-4 page updates on the team and their supporting cast, it drops hints for upcoming stories. Then Fairchild encounters a paradox that can only be called Schrodinger's Wankerboy.A two part story showcases Grunge and Roxie's dysfunctional relationship but changes nothing.Rainmaker get's an issue to herself but again, it's nice but not deep. Finally Fairchild takes on the most terrible threat yet, an irritating but omnipresent pop song!

The art is by a host of pencilers (no Adam Warren though) all of whom do a fine if not exceptional job. There are clever ideas, good teasers for laser stories (which were not reprinted) and some good characterizations but even for Gen 13 fans nothing too special.

Now if they would just reprint Warren's Magical Girl Roxie series... that was good.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Drawn By Warren
Although Amazon lists this album as created by Adam Warren, only the text is by Warren, while the pictures are drawn by a host of rather mediocre artists. Most of the time, I found myself thinking how hilarious this could have been if drawn by Warren himself, but now most gags fall to the ground with a thud.

With many different artists, the graphical style is changing too much, and none of them manage to produce anything above the mediocre. The stories are as good as you would expect them from Warren's hand, but the whole album just demonstrates how important it is to have a talented artist rendering the author's vision.

This book is a lot of wated potential.

3-0 out of 5 stars Meanwhile
This TPB is issues 66-70, and has issues 43 & 44 added. The first part, isses 66-70 art work is done well, the story line is well written, well the last part of the book, isses 43 & 44 was well writen and entertaining, the art work had much to be desired.
The first part, Caitlin has to help Ivana to idetify a new Gen Active.Interesting play into the story from the radio, kind of cute.
The second story can be a bit confusing, it was about Roxy and Grunge, and had lots of flashbacks.
The thrid story is about, Sara and and has to do with her past and her Uncle, a nice story.
The fourth is about a pop song that grows to dominate all media outlets, and is driving Caitlin crazy.
I gave it 3 stars as the stories were good, i think they were just average. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Scott Hampton classic
This is the graphic novel compilation of a 3 issue mini-series by the same name, originally published by Pacific Comics in the early 80's. The original series was the first work I saw by artist Scott Hampton, who was one of the first in comics to utilize fully painted panels to convey the story (as opposed to inked art with color fills). While the art here is slightly primative (Scott really shows his stuff in the mutch moodier "Pidgeons from Hell" a RE Howard adaptation), Silverheels hightlights Scott's growing talent. I think that darker storylines allow Scott to use more contrast, better setting the mood. Technically the painting (mostly watercolor and guache if I'm not mistaken) is top notch - in this volume the panel flow is slightly weak, but improves as the story progresses. ... Read more
