Product Description

The Selected Letters of Louisa May Alcott contains a broad cross-section of letters from the correspondence of the creator of Little Women and provides a compelling autobiography of this most autobiographical of writers. Spanning a period of forty-five years, this collection provides vivid accounts of Alcott's life and development as a writer.

Episodes in Alcott's life are candidly reflected: her youth, when the prototype of Jo March was already being shaped; the 1868 publication of Little Women and the prosperity and renown the book brought its author; her never-ending struggles for her family; the final years spent caring for her niece and an invalid father. Alcott's letters also furnished a vent for the pressures she felt to write a sequel to Little Women and play matchmaker for the novel's heroine. Writing to a friend in early 1869, Alcott remarked that "Jo should have remained a literary spinster but so many enthusiastic young ladies wrote to me clamorously demanding that she should marry Laurie, or somebody, that I didnt dare to refuse & out of perversity went & made a funny match for her. I expect vials of wrath to be poured out upon my head, but rather enjoy the prospect."

The correspondence sheds light on Alcott's relationship with her publishers, such friends as Emerson and Thoreau, and members of her family. Of particular note are her observations--many of them firsthand--on such major issues of the day as abolition, the Civil War, and the women's rights movement.

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy is a treatment approach for families that have children with symptoms of emotional disorders, including Complex Trauma and disorders of attachment. It was originally developed by psychologist Daniel Hughes as an intervention for children whose emotional distress resulted from earlier separation from familiar caregivers. Hughes cites attachment theory and particularly the work of John Bowlby as theoretical motivations for dyadic developmental psychotherapy. However, other sources for this approach may include the work of Stern, who referred to the attunement of parents to infants' communication of emotion and needs, and of Tronick, who discussed the process of communicative mismatch and repair, in which parent and infant make repeated efforts until communication is successful. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars No reason to buy this.
This is indeed a collection of FREE Wiki articles. Let's say that instead of buying this book you can as well do an accurate search on Wikipedia or on the internet-at-large. I bought this book because I was interested in the subject; didn't paid too much attention to the fact that the entries are on the internet already because I was enthusiastic on finding something that I thought would be more focused on dyadic developmental therapy. Surprise, the content wasn't that focused on the matter, it is merely a collection of basic topics on the history of attachment and some basic on the later developments of the theory. It is written in very small characters (barely readable), so you better buy a magnifier if you still want to buy this.

Unfortunately, in the Amazon description I couldn't figure out I was going to buy such a "messy" book. The "look inside this book" feature doesn't show too clear the size of the characters and other printing characteristics, so I couldn't figure that, besides the fact that I was paying lots of money for something already offered for free, I was going to make huge efforts to read the content.

I was kind of mad on myself for not paying attention to the details of the book, especially since the price is very high (paid more than 40 USD on it since it's a new entry BUT I strongly advise Amazon to be more careful when Alpha Script Publishing is announcing a new release. For this very high-price you can find on Amazon true-quality books on attachment, not this one. So don't but it and carefully review this publisher before considering buying something from them. I personally believe that even if the cost was 3 dollars or less it's not worth to buy something printed on paper when you can already find it free on the internet. All you need is some patience, a good knowledge on the subject and lots of "green" (save the trees) mentality that will allow you to reconsider some publishers and their offers for Amazon.

Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: Jean Piaget (French pronunciation: ; born in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, 9 August 1896 - 16 September 1980) was a Swiss developmental psychologist well known for his epistemological studies with children. His theory of cognitive development and epistemological view are together called "genetic epistemology". He placed great importance in the education of children. As the Director of the International Bureau of Education, he declared in 1934 that "only education is capable of saving our societies from possible collapse, whether violent, or gradual." In 1955, he created the International Centre for Genetic Epistemology in Geneva and directed it until 1980. According to Ernst von Glasersfeld, Jean Piaget is "the great pioneer of the constructivist theory of knowing." Piaget was born in 1896 in Neuchâtel, in the French-speaking region of Switzerland. His father, Arthur Piaget, was a professor of medieval literature at the University of Neuchâtel. Piaget was a precocious child who developed an interest in biology and the natural world. He was educated at the University of Neuchâtel, and also studied briefly at the University of Zürich. During this time, he published two philosophical papers which showed the direction of his thinking at the time, but which he la...http://booksllc.net/?l=de ... Read more

Excerpt: Benjamin Berell Ferencz (born March 11, 1920) is a Romanian-born American lawyer. He was an investigator of Nazi war crimes after World War II and the Chief Prosecutor for the United States Army at the Einsatzgruppen Trial, one of the twelve military trials held by the U.S. authorities at Nuremberg, Germany. Later, he became a vocal advocate of the establishment of an international rule of law and of an International Criminal Court. From 1985 to 1996, he was Adjunct Professor of International Law at Pace University. He was born in Transylvania, from where his family immigrated into the United States when he was ten months old. According to his own account, the family left Romania to evade the persecution of Hungarian Jews after Hungary had ceded the territory where they lived to Romania after World War I. The family settled in New York City, where they lived in the Lower East Side in Manhattan. He studied crime prevention at the City College of New York and won a scholarship for the Harvard Law School with his criminal law exam. At Harvard, he studied under Roscoe Pound and also did research for Sheldon Glueck, who at that time was writing a book on war crimes. Ferencz was graduated from Harvard in 1943. After his studies, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served in the 115th AAA Gun Battalion, an anti-aircraft artillery unit. In 1945, he was transferred to the headquarters of General Patton's Third Army, where he was assigned to a team tasked with setting up a war crimes branch and collecting evidence for such crimes. ... Read more
