Usual Design - Very Functional!

Cheap Bookmark: Need to tear off along perforation
Despite the low price, I was disappointed that it was such cheap bookmarks that you have to tear off along the perforated edge. The perforated side is not smooth and looks unattractive. The paper quality is also not very thick and really cheap. I could use a piece of paper instead of a bookmark, if I didn't care about the feel, quality, and appearance. I will never buy another bookmark from this company, or any other company who care so little about the quality of their product.

Great book. Very Touching.
East of Tiffany's is full of stories, love and business. GREAT BOOK, VERY TOUCHING.
I did feel touched more that once while reading it. When Marciano Guerrero writes about the love of his life, Mary Patricia "When I'm awake I think of you, when I sleep I dream of you, and in my dreams you are my hypnosis, my delirium, and my peace" Wow. I have to say that this quote made me cry. Been in love and knowing all the great things you can live with your partner it is just amazing. I have to say I don't like dogs, I was bitten by a dog when I was little and since then I am, totally afraid and phobic about them. But this time, I must say that the story about "Dog Heaven" Pepino touched me to the point I had tears on my eyes. I imagine the emptiness Pepino left on the life of Mr. Guerrero and Mary Patricia. I find the stories sentimental, funny, and engaging and it makes you keep reading it. I have recommended this book already I will keep on doing it.

East of Tiffany's book review
A collage of stories compressed into an eye catching book. The moment I picked up this book it was hard to place down. Every new story carried a suspense feeling making you want to know how the story will end. This book is an inspiration to continue to battle any obstacle that can come in between my path to success and failure. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

"East of Tiffany's "includes riveting stories about actors, bankers, warriors, cops, industrialists, executives and pets. The story that relates to my life is the story "Dog Heaven ". This story is about a dog that is very sick and has to be put to sleep.When I was reading this story I couldn't stop crying.The love that Mr. Guerrero gave to this dog was so great. Each short story in this book is written from the heart, with deep feelings. I don't like to read books but this one was so good that I couldn't stop reading until the very end.

Inspirational
East of Tiffany's had plenty of inspiring stories to motivate you and help you realize that you are not the only one struggling to better yourself in the big city of New York. Many stories were touching and actually relate to our everyday lives, whether it is from a man's best friend (our pet pooch) or even the un-real stories of our children and struggles. I personally related with many stories and found each short story a bit more intriguing. I do highly recommend it for those who just need to be reminded that we are not the only ones in life aiming higher goals every day and eventually we will succeed with the correct vision.

A Great Read
I don't read too many books but I had a good time reading East of Tiffany's. It was mixed with some nice real life serious short stories and some were funny stories as well. It doesn't take too long to read because the book is not too long. The stories themselves keep you interested, and wanting to read more.Before you realize it the book is done too. I liked the fact that they were real stories, and based in NYC where I live and can relate. My favorite story in the book for me was "Marriage Vows and Genesis" because it showed how a real married couple in love should act and be together. ... Read more

An outstanding reference

You Can't Handle the Truth!!!
Author Tiffany L. Warren has "wowed" me yet again. In the Midst of it All was a story that made me laugh and cry while being both amazed and shocked all at the same time. As Warren weaved together intricate details of Zenovia's coming of age during her experience with the Brethren of Sacrifice, we are reminded that its not about religion, but relationship. Religion is based upon man's interpretation of laws, while relationship is connecting intimately with the Lord to learn his ways and his will for our lives. As Zenovia's tale unfolds, you will be surprised at what she has to go through and amazed at the decisions she has to make at such a young, tender age. Dealing with the issues of mental illness, the prophetic, and cults are just a few of the taboo subjects Warren tackles with skill and expertise. The book club discussion questions at the end were an added treat as they are sure to spark conversation that will be beneficial to each and every reader.

You'll fall in love with this story instantly
I absolutely loved this book. Tiffany L. Warren writes a wonderful story about mistakes and consequences, finding and losing yourself; In the Midst of It All reminds us that some relationships are not meant to span our lifetimes, but we can gain tremendous wisdom from them.

Zenovia "Zee" Sinclair isn't a typical teenager. For one, she's smart as a whip, wise beyond her years and quick to speak her mind. And she's taking care of her schizophrenic mother in secret. When some members of a local church--they call themselves "The Brethern"--come by and convince Zee and her mother Audrey to visit, Zee's life changes. Audrey is quickly wrapped up in the strange church and its even strange-r members and, of course, Zee is along for the ride.

Instantly, Zee is attracted to the smart, handsome Tristan but flirts with his older brother Justin, an emotional triangle she'll only understand years later. After being hurt by Tristan, Zee finds solace in the hip, experienced and vivacious Emil. But Zee learns that when you play with fire, you get burned. Her indiscretions with Emil may cost Zee a cherished friendship with Tristan and to top it off, her mother marries another Brethren and stops taking her medication, waiting for God to heal her of her mental illness.

Eventually, Zee leaves for college and graduates with much success.

But God sometimes has a funny way of working out His plan, and though it takes Zee a moment to embrace it, she does so fully and the ending is better than she could have imagined.

A feel-good story with a compelling plot, Tiffany L. Warren carves out a small place in your heart for each of these characters and their struggles, and manages to aid you in completely understanding them all.

A must read!

Standing firm In The Midst Of It All

17-year-old Zenovia has had a hard life thus far- born to a single schizophrenic mother in the 'hood and prone to prophetic visions on top of her surroundings. Her mother Audrey has visions too- this shared gift bonds them even as Audrey's mental illness keeps a wedge between them.

After visiting many churches, the mother/daughter team falls in with a cult, The Brethren Of The Sacrifice. Audrey loves it, but Zenovia can't stop questioning The Brethren's beliefs, which have room for many rules and regulations, but none for mercy or forgiveness. Zenovia's challenge is to not lose her dreams in order to keep her place among the Brethren, the one place where she and Audrey found acceptance.

I enjoyed watching Zenovia's walk of faith as she questioned the doctrine of The Brethren and sought to be who she was born to be instead of who they wanted to make her into. Warren does a great job of tackling two controversial issues: mental health and cults vs. true Christian faith.

Inner Visions
Tiffany L. Warren impressed me with her multi-dimensional characters, unconventional and unpredictable storyline, and down-to-earth voice in Farther Than I Meant to Go, Longer Than I Meant to Stay. The same was true for The Bishop's Daughter. Thus, I was excited to dig into her latest offering, In The Midst of It All.

The book tells the story of Zeenovia, a teenager who's blessed with the gift of sight and who happens to have a schizophrenic mother named Audrey. When Audrey and Zeenovia visit a new church, their lives change forever. The Brethren of Sacrifice is not your average worship center with its stringent rules, clandestine operations, and feared Council of Elders. Audrey takes to the Brethren right away because a premonition she had years earlier predicted it. Zeenovia questions the things she encounters, including the Brethren's belief that Audrey should give up her medication to await a mental healing from above. When it seems Zeenovia has strayed off the path of what the Brethren deem acceptable, her life takes yet another drastic turn.

Once again, Tiffany L. Warren impressed me with her engaging plot and believable characters. The book doesn't come across as preachy, and the characters show that they have flaws just like the rest of us. I anxiously await the next title from this talented author.

Trials and Temptation on every hand.........
"In The Midst Of It All" was a good and fast paced read that gave insight to the brains and craziness of religious cults. The characters were real with a storyline that draws you in to visions and mental illness. The Regal Sisterhood found this to be a very interesting read which provided great discussion material.

Part 1 of my planned three-part Breakfast at Tiffany's program
I'm planning to read Sam Wasson's new book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.To get there, I first read Truman Capote's original story.Next up, viewing of Blake Edwards' 1961 film.Then, on to Wasson's book.

The three additional stories here are of little weight and value - it's 'Breakfast' that is Capote's slim masterpiece. Its 119 small, generously spaced pages can be easily gulped down in a single setting.

Like 'Catcher in the Rye,' the reader is left amazed that these words were conceived and written 50+ years ago (original publication date: 1958) so vibrant do they feel.Capote's original incarnation makes much plainer than the book the nature of Holly's true vocation.And, contrary to Audrey Hepburn's gauzy, iconographic screen beauty, Capote's Ms. Golightly is, while lithe, of coarser and tougher stock.When my wife asked me my opinion after finishing it, my immediate reaction was that it was sadder and darker than I expected.

Capote's writing is a marvel.As Norman Mailer's cover blurb notes: Capote was - at one point - seen as the best writer of his generation.It's hard not to read these pages and think of his blazing start as a young writer and juxtapose that against the parody he'd become later in life.He abused and wasted his talent through prodigious consumption of drugs and alcohol, not to mention a well-honed talent for blowing up important friendships with his thinly disguised literary send-ups.

Flamboyant characters drawn with rare perception
This story of a single young woman beset with ambition, beauty, questionable judgment, and an impecunious past is crafted with imagination and attention to detail.In a big city, Holly Golightly bounces through the very short (~110 small pages) novel among a surprisingly realistic cast of larger-than-life supporting characters.

There's no excuse for not reading this classic.

Three short stories round out the volume.The first two short stories weren't anything special, but the third was very good, a touching tale of an orphaned 7-year-old living with only his elderly handicapped-since-childhood aunt as a friend.

Good story
In a way it's hard to believe this short story is what inspired the iconic movie.Especially, since Tiffany's plays even a smaller part here than the movie.It was hard to get Audrey Hepburn out of mind while reading this, because this book takes place twenty years earlier-during the WWII.All material written in that time was always so serious (The greatest generation-they say.) that it was hard to picture such a flighty and worldly personalty for that time.Though I have no doubt that it must be true.It just takes an adjustment.Overall, it's a good story.I wish I could say the same for the three additional stories in this book.To me those, House of Flowers, Diamond Guitar and a Christmas Memory were a waste of time and a disappointment.But this book is still worth the purchase price for Breakfast at Tiffany's alone.

Capote's Unique Literary Gifts on Display in the Original Story of Holly Golightly and Three Other Tales
Those who know Truman Capote's alternately poignant and comic 1958 novella only through the memorable 1961 Audrey Hepburn film directed by Blake Edwards may be surprised to find that Holly Golightly, in her original incarnation, is recalled in a flashback as a nineteen-year old Manhattan "party girl" during WWII. The still provocative story is really a memory piece fifteen years later by the narrator, a struggling writer with no name except the one given to him by Holly - "Fred" - after her beloved brother. The rest of the elements will be familiar to anyone who has seen the movie, though Capote is more forthright in describing Holly's hedonistic behavior than film censors could allow in the early sixties. Revealed gradually is her background as Lulumae Barnes, a hillbilly child-bride to Doc Golightly, written with more comedy than pathos here, as well as her erratic, amoral journey to Hollywood as a starlet and then as a "companion" to wealthy men in New York who give her cash for the powder room.

Eccentric characters fill in the corners like Mr. Yunioshi, the Japanese fashion photographer who lives upstairs, and Sally Tomato, the gangster who passes messages to Holly while serving time in Sing Sing. Capote has less affinity for the romantic conventions found in the movie as he more comfortably explores the tale of two emotionally stunted people who find momentary support from one another. The melancholy ending is testament to that, and as such, the book is well worth reading for Capote's gift for illustrative prose. Three very brief stories from Capote are also included with the book, all with their charms - "The House of Flowers", the fanciful tale of two warring bordellos in the West Indies; "A Diamond Guitar", a tender story of a prison inmate who attempts to use his glass-diamonded guitar as a means to escape; and "A Christmas Memory", a childhood remembrance of his distant cousin embodied by the elderly Sook. ... Wonderful Activity
As others have said, this is so much more than a coloring book. I have a serious illness that really limits me and the time that I spent coloring these added so much to my days plus the fact that I could then display them so that I could look at them over and over. I have a wall that I displayed them on along with other stained glass designs that I love to look at. It is definitely a great book to add to any collection.

Very nice overview of Tiffany's work. Not exhaustive but affordable.
I've a few books on Tiffany's stained glass work, including the definitive collection of his lamps and a cut-out paperback with photos of various windows and lamps. In terms of price and coverage, this is a Goldilocksian "just right" middle choice for someone who doesn't want a major investment but is interested in the breadth of Tiffany's work.

Primarily, this book covers the works that are owned by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, and in fact I bought my copy in its shop to help me remember my visit. (Aside: it is indeed among the best museum shops in the world, and I felt compelled to buy *something*.)

The museum does have an impressive Tiffany collection, including some of the works you've seen photographed in all the "usual places," such as his wysteria window, Autumn Landscape, and the dogwood window. It also has several lamps, vases, and -- possibly surprising to some people -- furniture, mosaics, boxes, and other items that don't get quite as much "airplay" but are still quite beautiful.

The book is separated into chapters on Tiffany's background, interiors, stained-glass windows, mosaics, favrile glass, lamps, enamels and ceramics, and jewelry, metalwork, and woodwork. The text is academic and a little dry, but suitable for the context. You learn about the provenance of the item rather than how it was constructed.

The photos are lovely, with plenty of closeups -- though not *quite* close enough, I found, for my stained-glass hobbyiest's eye. That is, the closeup of the Magnolias and Irises window shows enough detail for you to appreciate the glass and maybe the soldering, but you never see how amazingly the windows are plated. (Fortunately, the museum lets you take non-flash photos, so I have a few examples of my own.) You also see sketches and other in-progress designs, as well as other documents -- such as a drawing of a theater that Tiffany designed which was demolished in 1902.

But if an item isn't in the museum's collection, it isn't mentioned here; if you're looking for an exhaustive All About Tiffany book, this isn't it. It isn't *meant* to be an All About Tiffany book, and as other reviewers have noted, this doesn't focus on windows or lamps. And, at 100 pages, they can't include everything.

Personally, I was blown away by his mosaics (which I'd never seen before), and I realized why the favrile lamps earned him such a reputation (the photos here, like all the others, simply do not do them justice). So I'm very glad that I have this book in my growing collection; certainly, at the reasonable price it gives you a very good overview.

Loved This Book
I saw this exhibition at the Met in NYC and was enthralled by it.I showed the book to a fellow Tiffany lover and he said though he has many books on Tiffany there were items in this one he had never seen before.I say buy the book and then a ticket to NYC and go to the Met and see the originals.Both are worth the price.

Not quite what I was looking for
I bought this book expecting to find many pictures of Tiffany's wonderful stained glass windows.In that, I was disappointed, hence the two stars.There is, however, a great sampling of Tiffany's work including jewelry,lamps, and an absolutely stunning green desk collection that I had neverseen before.In all it is a great collection of the artist's work andgives an excellent overview of his amazing depth.

Good resource and reference book...
...which is, unfortunately, a little light on the pictures and photos in general. You do get to see some exceptional pieces and good photography to be sure, however, I would have preferred at least 30-40 more images, instead of the interminably long text.

A single picture unveils a lot more than words ever could, no matter how beautifully and eloquently they are written. Then again, it is still a great book to add to your collection.

wonderous display of decorative art
While money might not necessarily buy happiness, it undoubtedly can lead to pleasure. One can but envy those with the funds to possess some of the fantastic objects displayed in this splendid book. A vast array of decorative art is on view; items such as glassware, jewelry, furniture,lamps,silverware and imperial eggs. Definitely a gorgeous display of artistic luxury!

Apart from the many photographs, the text of this volume is unusually interesting. There are a number of articles detailing the history of Faberge, Tiffany and Lalique. There is also coverage of other topics such as modernism, financial royalty, the French crown jewels, theatre and noted contemporary designers.

The photographic and printing quality are excellent and this reasonably priced book is sure to give ongoing pleasure. If you cannot have the real thing, good reproductions are somewhat of a consolation!

A Lost Pair of Kites
Breakfast At Tiffany's, a book by Truman Capote, is a short novel that is very well-written.The book consists of four short stories, and although the plot of the four stories have nothing in common with one another, they are tied together by a central theme.Capote also demonstrates superb use of symbolism throughout his book.
The main idea of each short story revolves around the loss of someone or something loved.The first story, "Breakfast at Tiffany's," is about two close friends, but after a series of dramatic events are forced to leave each other forever."House of Flowers" tells of Ottilie, a girl who chooses to leave her rich, easy life and marries to a poor boy who works in the fields.In "A Diamond Guitar," one friend betrays the other, leaving Mr. Schaeffer watching "the face of his friend, suspended above him...it was so distant, judging."And finally, "A Christmas Memory," is perhaps the saddest of all four stories.Here, two lifelong friends who have spent every Christmas together, eventually grow apart due to a sudden change in lifestyles.Capote says that loss is something all must endure, and the only way to deal with a loss is to grow from it.
The author relies on symbolism to bring more life to his stories, and no doubt he uses this element well.For example, the Houngan in "House of Flowers" explains to Ottilie that if she catches a wild bee and it "does not sting, then [she] will know [she has] found love."The bee represents Ottilie's heart, something wild and free.Yet if she allows herself to be tamed, then she will find true love.It is instances like this that make Capote's stories timeless.
Capote engages the reader's attention in each story.His language is simple, and the reader never becomes bored with what he has to tell. But perhaps what brings his book together is the message he communicates: loss of love is unavoidable, and by overcoming it comes learning and knowledge that love will come again.

A Lost Soul
Truman Capote has a great imagination. Every story I have read by him has held my interest. I am anxious to read his other novels. Although this novel is a short read, it held my attention very well. Breakfast At Tiffany�s is a novel filled with a love interest, a little suspense, and scandalous affairs; it�s a little racy for the time this story takes place.
Lulamae Barnes wanted to re-invent herself. She picks a new name, Holly Golightly. I feel she has picked this new name to reflect the persona she wants to project; someone who was always on the go-someone not too easily tied down. She is a little gullible, a little naïve, and also outspoken. Holly Golightly is someone you love intensely for the short while she is in your life and someone you long for long after she has exited. I also feel that everyone could relate to her at some point in her life (all the way from the pain in her childhood, when she felt like she never belonged anywhere or to anyone, to the time she lost her brother, Fred).
Holly was a young woman who had quite a few gentleman callers. She seems to fall for the older men in her life. Holly suffers from this �father complex.�
My favorite character is the narrator of the story. He is an older gentleman as well. He is in his sixties and a writer. As they developed their friendship, he also developed a fascination with Holly. He reminds her of Fred, so she asks if she can call him Fred, and he graciously accepts. As the two interact as friends, �Fred� quietly falls in love with her.
I was most disappointed that Holly never quite knew of his love for her. I think that if she had known then maybe she could have had a better life with him.
I rated this novel with five stars because I could not put this story down until I had finished it. I am not an avid reader so that is saying a lot for this story. If I can�t wait to finish a book, then I feel the author had captured my heart for the length of time it took me to put it down. It is almost like getting a kiss from a long lost lover.

The Opulent World of Tiffany Flatware
This book is a must have for the collector, dealer or appraiser.Loaded with history and incredible photos. What I found most interesting was the break down of the Victorian dining room table. Serving pieces for foods that sadly most people today can't even spell. A vanished life when a person was judged on the manners and dinign skills they possesed. Invaluable is a great addition of the section on how this silver is made. An indepth listing and history on the famous Mackay service cover an entire chapter.

This is a terrific book! It covers the complete spectrum of Tiffany silver flatware from 1845 to 1905. It's lavishly illustrated with photographs, diagrams, and original pattern drawings. It covers the full-line patterns, the not-full-line patterns, and the custom patterns made for the likes of the Vanderbilts and the Hearsts.

The book breaks the patterns down by designer: early pieces by retailers Polhamus, Hebbard, Gorham, Moore and others; the major designers Edward Moore, Charles Grosjean, and Paulding Parnham. It shows the various place pieces in standard patterns, as well as covering the extensive amount of fabulous and rare serving and other odd pieces (how many of you own a scallop serving fork?) There are also several useful appendices, including: Flatware Terminology; Glossary of Technical Terms; Tiffany Flatware Markings; and a Tiffany Chronology. As well, a thorough index makes it easy to find patterns or pieces you are looking for.

All in all this is the perfect book for the collector of this wonderful silver. It does not contain pricing information, which is a good thing in this day and age of online auctions, as such pricing info is often outdated by the time the book reaches the press.
