Excerpt: Walter Francis O'Malley (October 9, 1903 August 9, 1979) was an American sports executive who owned the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers team in Major League Baseball from 1950 to 1979. He served as Brooklyn Dodgers chief legal counsel when Jackie Robinson broke the racial color barrier in 1947. In 1958, as owner of the Dodgers, he brought major league baseball to the West Coast, moving the Dodgers from Brooklyn to Los Angeles and coordinating the move of the New York Giants to San Francisco at a time when there were no teams west of Missouri. For this, he was long vilified by Brooklyn Dodgers fans. However, neutral parties describe him as a visionary for the same business action, and many authorities cite him as one of the most influential sportsmen of the 20th century. Excerpt: MLB Records: Henry Louis "Hank" Aaron (born February 5, 1934 in Mobile, Alabama) is a retired American baseball player whose Major League Baseball (MLB) career spanned the years 1954 through 1976. Aaron is widely considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time. In 1999, editors at The Sporting News ranked Hank Aaron fifth on their list of "Greatest Baseball Players." After playing with the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro American League and in the minor leagues, Aaron started his major league career in 1954. (He is the last Negro league baseball player to have played in the major leagues.) He played 21 seasons with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves in the National League, and his last two years (197576) with the Milwaukee Brewers in the American League. His most notable achievement was setting the MLB record for most career home runs. During his professional career, Aaron performed at a consistently high level for an extended period of time. He hit 24 or more home runs every year from 1955 through 1973, and is the only player to hit 30 or more home runs in a season at least fifteen times. He is one of only four players to have at least seventeen seasons with 150 or more hits. Aaron made the All-Star team every year from 1955 until 1975 and won three Rawlings Gold Glove Awards. ...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=14321 ... Read more

Turner's penchant for controversial statements earned him the nickname "The Mouth of the South". In addition to donations, Turner has devoted his assets to environmentalism and capitalism. He owns more land than any other American and uses much of it for ranches to re-popularize bison meat (for his Ted's Montana Grill chain), amassing the largest herd in the world. He also created the environmental animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers. Turner was inducted into the Junior Achievement U.S. Business H...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=30475 ... Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Turner Network Television (TNT) is an American cable TV channel created by media mogul Ted Turner and currently owned by the Turner Broadcasting System division of Time Warner which also owns Cartoon Network. Since 2007 TNT has re-launched local versions of the channel in Spain, Germany and Turkey with more European countries in the pipeline. Turner Network Television (TNT) was originally a live sporting events syndicator. TNT had many broadcast affiliates around the nation. Most notably TNT syndicated two NFLPA all-star games in 1982 and many Southeastern Conference football games during the early and mid '80s. TNT as a cable service of Time Warner Cable, was launched with a showing of the 1939 classic movie Gone with the Wind (which Ted Turner had acquired the rights to), on October 3, 1988. It was chosen because, it was said, it was Turner's favorite movie - it would also be the first program on sister channel Turner Classic Movies in 1994. Incidentally, the film had been premiered in Atlanta, Turner's hometown and the headquarters of Turner Broadcasting, as well as being the setting for Gone With the Wind. ... Read more
