Chapters: Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, List of Aerosmith Band Members, Brad Whitford, Jimmy Crespo, Joey Kramer, Russ Irwin, Ray Tabano, Rick Dufay. Excerpt:Brad Whitford Bradley Ernest Whitford (23 February 1952, Winchester, Massachusetts ) is the rhythm guitarist for the hard rock band Aerosmith . Career After attending the Berklee College of Music , Whitford played in local bands Symbols of Resistance, Teapot Dome, Earth, Inc., and finally a band called Justin Thyme before joining Aerosmith in 1971, replacing original guitarist Ray Tabano . Aerosmith would go on to be one of the most successful bands of the 1970s. However, following a string of less successful albums in the late 1970s, Whitford left the band in 1981 to work on his own project with singer Derek St. Holmes , simply called Whitford/St. Holmes. The project was dissolved after a sole self-titled album was released in 1981. Whitford briefly toured with The Joe Perry Project , featuring former Aerosmith band mate Joe Perry , before both Perry and Whitford rejoined Aerosmith in 1984. In the mid-late 1980s, all band members completed drug rehabilitation , including Whitford, who completed programs to combat his alcohol abuse . Whitford remains sober to this day and continues to be an active force in Aerosmith. Whitford also served as a producer for a well-known Boston band, The Neighborhoods, who were led by a rabid Aerosmith fan, David Minehan. When, in 1994, Whitford was forced to leave unexpectedly in the middle of an Asian tour due to family illness, Minehan was flown to Japan where he performed in Whitford's place for several days until Whitford returned. Whitford missed the start of Aerosmith's 2009 summer tour after requiring surgery as a result of a head injury sustained while getting out of his Ferrari , jo... ... Read more

Product Description

In the New York underground music scene of the 1970s, Cyrinda Foxe was a legend and icon. Partying with huge headliners and obscure bands alike, she eventually fell in with Steven Tyler, lead singer of an unknown band called Aerosmith. In DREAM ON, Cyrinda chronicles her life, from growing up in an abusive home, to her troubled marriage to the rock legend, never straying far from some of the most lavish, intoxicating partying you'll ever read about. Throughout, Cyrinda tells a story that only she could tell, a story that reveals how she went from rock's top-to rock bottom.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dream on, dream out
It's said that one should not speak ill of the dead. But "Dream On: Livin' On the Edge With Steven Tyler and Aerosmith" might leave you wanting to do just that for Cyrinda Foxe-Tyler, the late ex-wife of Steven Tyler and (by her own admission) a huge pain in the backside. Foxe-Tyler's autobiography is a slow embittered grind that seems less like a recounting of her own life than an endless stream of seedy recountings about just what a jerk her ex is.

Born to a moody abusive mother with a penchant for marrying various moody abusive men, Cyrinda (then Kathleen Victoria Hetzekian -- although she refuses to reveal the last, because "I want to leave my father out of this") was a miserable military brat lugged around the globe.

Her refuges: rock'n'roll (Elvis, the Beatles, the Stones), light drug use, and sexual experimentation with the boys on base... and pretty soon, her life was all about those three things. Before long, she had left Oklahoma and Texas behind for the bright lights of the big city, namely New York -- courtesy of Lou Reed and a pair of Danish black boots. And despite being "the most naive, cotton-candy-headed being in the world," Cyrinda quickly established herself in Max's Kansas City, NYC's gay underworld, and Andy Warhol.

And then after a brief first marriage (her first husband is a faceless footnote), she met, got pregnant by and married Steven Tyler, the volatile and popular singer for the band Aerosmith. But of course passion doesn't last forever, and despite having a beautiful daughter between them, their acrimonious marriage was doomed from the start.

There are two kinds of rock wives/paramours: the classy and genuinely intelligent ones like Marianne Faithfull and Bebe Buell, and then there are the Angela Bowie ones who want to shovel dirt on their exes. Cyrinda is solidly in the latter grouping -- "Dream On: Livin' On the Edge With Steven Tyler and Aerosmith" seems to exist solely to smack her ex-husband in the head as frequently as possible, and often as tastelessly as possible (the "dive for it" anecdote is revolting).

When she isn't heaping dirt on Tyler's head, Cyrinda devotes most of the book to ranting randomly about various topics -- she raves about gays, her hatred of religion, her aversion to getting a job (to the point of sleeping with people for room and board) and how she is cooler and more in tune with young people and sex than her contemporaries. She also seems a bit fixated on her own sexual exploits, rangingfrom unofficial prostitution to a threesome with David and Angela Bowie to voyeuristic peeking at others having sex.

And her embitterment spreads to everything in this book, including other members of Steven Tyler's family --she gets in some digs at his ex-lover Buell and daughter Liv, barely acknowledges his second wife Teresa, and utterly ignores his third and fourth kids.

And it's undeniable that Tyler was a drug-addled mess for countless years... and that's just what his friends say. But despite her seedy anecdotes about Tyler, the person who is most degraded in "Dream On" is Cyrinda herself -- she comes across as lazy (how dare her ex not hire a full-time nanny for someone who refuses to get a job!), hypocritical (she demonizes Tyler for abuse, while proudly talking about the gouges she left in his face -- by her own admission not the only ones) and generally deluded about how others see her ("You're too intellectual!"). Not to mention deluded about her own place in life (seeing herself as an "aristocrat" compared to Aerosmith).

"Dream On: Livin' On the Edge With Steven Tyler and Aerosmith" is a sad memoir of a sad woman, whose bitterness wasn't exorcised until the very end of her life. And that bitterness coats every page of her autobiography, leaving you feeling vaguely unclean. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 30 years and no sigh of quiting
I first got this book 30 years ago and I came to Amazon recently just to replace my worn out copy! I'm not into romantic novels. But I enjoy reading about the Romanovs and thought, well this will be fun. And it is.

Okay it's fluff. But it's very well written fluff and you have to respect that; good writing is good writing. It takes you expertly away to another time and place. Olga Nikolaevna has always been my fav and it's nice to think she had a romance in the short time given her. Nothing could come of it of course, but while nursing during the WWI, the real Olga Nikolaevna indeed did, with one of the injured soldiers she cared for. Well why not a Mr. Kirby?

It's very sweet that in the book, the innocent romance begins when Olga is 16, and so there are years for the two characters develop a bond...and not the mere weeks the real Olga had. The fact that it's an "impossible" relationship due to their difference in rank, only adds to the romance of the story . Here a look or a word, speaks worlds.

I re-read " The Summer Day is Done" every few years and it's always enjoyable. All I know is even though I have passed on 1000's of books during those 30 years,I could never bring myself to put "The Summer Day is Done"in the box and passit on to another reader....and I'm glad I can get a newer copy on Amazon for myself!

Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Summer Day Is Done
R.T. Stevens has done an absolutely wonderful job of this fictional novel of the Imperial Family! The main characters are John Kirby, a British officer, and Grand Duchess Olga Nicolaevna, the eldest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna. The Summer Day Is Done is such a charming book and so difficult to put down - it makes you want to smile, and yet at the same time, so tragic that it is quite easy to find yourself in tears. The portrayal of the Imperial Family in this book, I find, is much better than a lot of other books on the family (fiction or non-fiction).

Overall, The Summer Day Is Done is definitely worth a read and one to treasure for a lifetime.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Summer Day is Done
I just finished this book, and although I knew the hero and heroine would not end up together, I couldn't but the book down. The description of the characters are vivid and makes you love them dearly. Many things have been written about the Romanovs, and this book give us a glimps of what could very well have been.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I've ever read
The Summer Day is Done is one of three superb books I have read in my lifetime. It moved me to tears, an unusual response from me while reading.I read it over twenty years ago and only two other books since then have touched me so deeply: The Clan of the Cavebear, and The Time Traveler's Wife. There are "must-reads" that I purchase and enjoy, such as the Harry Potter books and James Patterson books. But this book has stayed with me for a lifetime.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Summer Day Is Done
This is my favourite book ever! The love between Grand Duchess Olga and Mr. Kirby is very sweet and touching, even though it is a very unlikely match. I also loved the Imperial Family because they were all so united and loving. The end is very sad though, because we know that the Romanovs were murdered in 1918. But still, the love continues in the heart, even though Olga's life ended so early and tragically. But overall, this book is excellent and I recommend it for EVERYONE. ... Read more

I bought this book because I heard about Draplin talking about it on his website ([...]). The book is awesome. Very unique compared to other over-priced Logo Design books. I find these logos of the past to be much more inspiring than today's logos. The layout of the book is perfect too. My co-worker keeps snaking it off my desk if that says anything. ... Read more

Isabella Cordova was the proudest senorita in all of Texas. And for good reason. As a teen-ager, she had inherited the sprawling Cordova estate. Now, a woman in her twenties, she was as beautiful as the land she owned. She had much to be proud of. But trouble was brewing. This was the Texas of Sam Houston, a rough territory overrun by ruthless men whose hunger for land and power knew no bounds. Colonel Hendricks was such a man; already he owned everything in town....everything that is but the Cordova estate. Soon Cordova cattle were disappearing, the servants were being harassed, and a document had appeared contesting Isabella's ownership of some of the land. Then an English stranger arrived...Jason Rawlings...quick witted, not afraid of a fight. Isabella thought he could handle the problem for her but Jason's plans didn't include the fiery senorita. He was on a manhunt and didn't plan on being swayed to help the beautiful Isabella.

Rodriguez previously played for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim from 2002 to 2008, and served as their closer starting in 2005. Rodriguez holds the major league record for saves in a single season with 62, set in 2008. Rodríguez pitching for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on April 16, 2007. Rodriguez signed as an undrafted amateur free agent in 1998. Originally a starting pitcher, Rodriguez moved to relief pitching in 2002 after elbow and shoulder injuries shortened his 2001 minor league season with the Lake Elsinore Storm. In 2002, he made his major league debut. Because of the multiple injuries to the Angels bullpen, the club brought him up during the middle of September. He emerged as a postseason relief hero, winning five postseason games despite never having won a Major League game before. Because Rodriguez had played very little in the Major Leagues, hitters in the playoffs had little idea what to expect from him, a situation that often favors the pitcher. In the ALDS against the Yankees, he got two victories (with 1 win resulting from a blown save). Against the Twins in the ALCS, he went 20 with seven strikeouts in four and one-third innings. Finally, in the 2002 World Series against the Giants, he had a 11 record with 13 strikeouts in eight and two-thirds innings. At 20 years old, he became the youngest ever to win a World Series game. In 2003, Rodriguez became a setup man. He gave up an earned run in 9 of h...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=710032 ... Read more
