Product Description
Incest perpetrators are the pariahs of society's major institutions, even those specifically designed to help them. The contributors to this book maintain that while the key actor in the incestuous family has been generally condemned, the obligation of the treatment community must remain constant for all service recipients - to help them seek solutions and change as well as develop strategies to alleviate suffering.

Who is the incest perpetrator? What treatment options are available? What services do they want? Using a direct, practical approach based on an extensive research program, this book provides a basic profile of the incest perpetrator, treatment guidelines and referral options, and future implications for research and practice.

Experts in criminal justice and clinical treatment join forces with perpetrators to unravel the critical issues of remedial concern, including legal and ethical issues. Throughout, the emphasis is on help and corrections. The volume is directed at trained therapists and students of the helping professions - guidance counsellors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, law enforcement officers, physicians, nurses, teachers, ministers and pastoral counsellors, probation officers, etc. It will also be an important resource book for all mental health, correctional, and self-help treatment facilities with incest offenders in their populations.

From the supplier: A fellow Mississipian praises Tennessee Williams as a writer who gave voice to passion and dreams. Williams made life seem noble. The fellow Southerner first became aware of Williams through a movie adaptation of 'Summer and Smoke.'

5-0 out of 5 stars Best from med student - chief resident
I am a 4th year medical student and used this book while on a senior elective in surgical oncology. Absolutely excellent! Easy to read, concise chapters and all the information needed to shine like a surg onc wannabe rockstar. No need for a highlighter as all information is pertinent. Every medical student interested in surg onc should own, but not needed for a medical student general surgery clerkship. However, this book should be required for all general surgery residents.

5-0 out of 5 stars its the best... when things are to be looked up fast!
the best book on surgical oncology when you need to refer real fast... best a resident in surgery can have

5-0 out of 5 stars a must have!
This handbook is the must have for every surgery resident or even staff member who's not an oncologist, very clear and easy to read....

5-0 out of 5 stars New Gold Standard Handbook
As others have said in their reviews, the MDA Surg Onc Handbook is well written, easily readable and a great source for studying for the boards or just quick review before a case or clinic. Our Surg Onc department uses this as its preferred text for the residents - even buying several copies so that they and the students could always have one to review while on service.

Treatment plans are cutting edge but available to the community and the presentation of controversies is helpful in understanding the topic.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE comprehensive cancer book
If you are looking for exellent value for money in (surgical) oncology, you have to purchase the MD Anderson Handbook. In a compulsively readable yet comprehensive style the entire field is covered. In contrast to its title, it is not only focussing on how things work in Houston, but altenative state of the art diagnostic and treatment options are discussed. In our surgical clinic, the book has become a standard reference text. ... Read more

Excerpt: Richard Nathaniel Wright (September 4, 1908 November 28, 1960) was an American author of powerful, sometimes controversial novels, short stories and non-fiction. Much of his literature concerned racial themes. His work helped redefine discussions of race relations in America in the mid-20th century. Wright, the grandson of formerly enslaved African-Americans, was born on the Rucker plantation in Roxie, Mississippi in Franklin County, outside of Natchez. His family soon moved to Memphis, Tennessee. While in Memphis, his father Nathaniel, a former sharecropper, abandoned the family. His mother, a schoolteacher, had to support herself and her children. In 1914, Ella Wright became ill, and the two brothers were sent to Settlement House, a Methodist orphanage. In 1916, Wright, his brother, and their mother returned to Mississippi, moving in with Margaret Wilson, Wrights grandmother. Later, the family moved in with Wrights aunt and uncle in Elaine, Arkansas, but left after whites murdered Wrights uncle, Silas Hoskins, in 1916. The family fled to West Helena, where they lived in fear in rented rooms for several weeks. Mrs...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=43153 ... Read more
