5-0 out of 5 stars Useful for OB-GYN residents
I think my entire class of OB-GYN residents bought this our intern year. I still use it now as a third year. It covers a lot of the information you can get pimped on, and explains it well. It is small enough to carry around, so those slow rotations, where you have 5-10 minutes throughout the day, this is a good resource. The only negative things I notice is that there is a lot of information, so you have to read instead of skim. And the book cannot fit into my white coat pocket. But definately one of the books I rely upon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fast delivery.
Came quicker than expected...within a few days. Also, was just as described - a new book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Have for New RNs in Women's Health/L&D/Maternity Depts, etc.
I'm a new Rn (13 months) working on the L&D unit at a large teaching hospital in Orlando, FL and I've been researching maternity nursing software for a new smartphone/PDA that I plan to purchase. The search lead me to the Skyscape website and this Johns Hopkins manual. Skyscape allows you to download a trial form of the software onto your pc so that you can view the product before buying. This is the 5th item that i've viewed today alone and I'm so incredibly HOOKED on the manual that I plan to buy it from Amazon immediately and purchase the pda software (though I am a little apprehensive about the software now based on reading the second reviewers comments on here).Anyways, I will be precepting a graduate nurse in a couple of weeks and I will totally recommend that she purchase this manual as well because it provides an AWESOME, EASY TO READ, TO THE POINT, description, instruction and medication treatment (dosage, side effects & contraindications) for EVERYTHING that I've encountered thus far on L&D - and I've only read the section on "Normal Labor and Delivery, Operative Delivery, and Malpresentations".I wish I had read this when I first started working on the floor because it would've provided a GREAT transition into this field of nursing from nursing school. The information provided is SHORT, SPECIFIC and VERY CLEARLY WRITTEN. Even though the manual is written for med students, it totally provides a great learning tool for nurses as well because it will help me with anticipating the need of the physician when providing intrapartum care on the labor floor, which in turn increases provision of effective patient care.A big THANK YOU to the authors ! :o))

5-0 out of 5 stars A good book for your rotations
This is a compact book following the same formula for the other manuals from this collection (Ex Washington manual). It is not a treatise and it is not intended to be so, quite the contrary. It is a pocket book, easy to carry and to manipulate. It cover all the topics you might need for your day to day life in the hospital in a short , but not too short, and up to date format. I like the fact that you can read any chapter in less than 30 minutes. I recommend this book for medical students in need of a compact book to carry during the GOB internship or for revising topics before an exam.

1-0 out of 5 stars an utter waste of time (and EXPENSIVE)
Do NOT buy the PDA version of this classic manual. The manufacturer shipped me a mismarked (wrong Operating System) shrink-wrap package with a warning that opening it would disallow a refund. The correct product had been mailed despite the mislabeling, but the convoluted registration process was time-consuming and produced an INVALID activation code. The purported SmartPatch fix also failed. Now, 6 days after paying for the product, it still doesn't work and the short East-coast technical support hours mean that MAYBE tomorrow, the 7th day after purchase, I MIGHT be able to use this product. Had this manufacturer been less paranoid about piracy, using a more standard serial # activation (like OTHER manufacturers), I'd be a happy customer recommending their product. ... Read more

Seriously. You WILL die by the end of this story.

You very much don't want to read this book.

You have been warned.

And if you DO give in to temptation, if you DO give into your morbid sense of curiosity, then I beg you not to read the story to the end.

There's still time.

Turn back.

Don't give in to temptation. Save your .99 cents. Save yourself.

You have been warned.

1-0 out of 5 stars This was a waste of money
This shouldn't even be allowed to exist on Amazon Kindle. It is a waste of money and says nothing. Very disappointing and I am frustrated that I had to pay for it.

Product Description
The scene is an underground game show. A very sick and twisted underground game show. Here contestants vie to see who can make their unwilling participants "Scream the Loudest". The rewards are many for the winners. But for the losers, well, they will be introduced to a whole new level of fear....

READING SAMPLE:

"Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm Bill Howz, and this is 'Scream Studs'. In the past we have fulfilled your voyeuristic pleasures, and tonight should be no different.

"Now, let's meet our studs and find out whose date Screamed the Loudest!

"Come on out guys, and let's find out which one of you is our biggest stud.

"Welcome to the show, guys. Seated to my right is Aaron Bly and to my left is Wally Towly. How's it going guys?"

"Great."

"Couldn't be better."

"We always start the show off by asking our studs to rate themselves, and I'll start with you. Now, Aaron, do you think of yourself as a ladies' man?"

"Always have, always will."

"Whoa, doggy! The man oozes confidence. Your turn, Wally. Do you think of yourself as somewhat of a romantic?"

"Could charm your mom to bed."

"And don't think it hasn't been done before — the whore! Let's move on. Let's see...Aaron, who was the lucky gal?"

"Her name was Karen Appleby."

"And as the rules go, you had two days and two nights to find a woman and make her scream. That's pretty much it as far as our rules go — unless you screw things up, then a whole new set of rules apply...."
