Product Description
Investigation of the links between stress and physical health is a continuing area of research, though many facets of the stress-health relationship remain unexplored, particularly in research investigating the role of chronic psychological stressors to health, such as low SES. Research has focused on assessing stress due to lower SES with more encompassing, objective measures such as income or occupation, however, this approach fails to account for the role of perceived SES in the health of older adults. In the few studies which have investigated perceived SES, the role of psychosocial resources has not yet been examined. In the present study, both objective and perceived measures of SES, as well as psychosocial resources, were examined in relation to the self-reported health of older adults. Perceived SES was found to relate to health not only directly, but also mediated by psychosocial resources and, lower perceived SES was found to contribute to the relationship lower objective SES to poorer health thereby suggesting a complex interplay of SES, perceived SES and perceived health and well-being. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not useful for learning VS 2008
As an experienced programmer I picked this up hoping to get some quick-start help on using Visual Studio 2008. Boy, was I disappointed. It tries to be an encyclopedia of software development, but is utterly useless for the topic the title suggests. Basic "for dummies" factoids such as how to tell VS 2008 where a header file is located are not in the index, and AFAICT, not in the book at all.

Don't waste your time and money on this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Reference Guide & Instructional Material
In keeping with the For Dummies tradition, this book is at a minimum, an excellent starting point for someone wanting to get introduced to the features of Visual Studio 2008.The multiple "mini-books" contained within this guide and instructional manual are well organized and will get the novice to semi-pro going in a short amount of time.Great book!

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this book
This book is a disjointed incoherent babble. The author is knowledgable but incapable of putting his knowledge im writing. If you are not already versed in Visual Studio 2008 you will have a very hard time following his train of thought and exercises which for the most part are incomplete. If you want to learn VS 2008 buy another book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good overview
This book provides an overview of Visual Studio 2008.It is not a programming language book.To learn C#, Visual Basic, or C++ you need to get a book on those languages.
However, there are many parts of Visual Studio and the IDE that aren't covered anywhere else, except in the online documentation from Microsoft that sometimes can be a challenge to find what you are looking for.
This book explains a number of terms, such as LINQ, Ajax, Asp.net, ADO.net, CSS, etc.It also gives a good overview for deploying your application using OneClick or the Windows .msi installer.
A number of those kinds of topics are consolidated in this one reference.
The book is not a language tutorial. But it does exactly what it claims - it is an excellent Desk Reference for Visual Studio 2008.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Book
Visual Studio 2008 All-In-One Desk Reference for Dummies is an excellent book.I found it to be very helpful and informative.I would recommend it for all who are starting out in VS 2008. ... Read more

Aus Wikipedia. Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: The Miss America pageant is a long-standing competition which awards scholarships to young women from the 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The winner of the national pageant is awarded the title of "Miss America" for one year. The pageant originated as a beauty contest in 1921, but now prefers to avoid this term since Swimsuit and Evening Wear comprise 35 percent of the overall score used to judge contestants. The pageant began in Atlantic City, New Jersey and was held there each year in September through 2004 (except for the year 2001, when it was held on October 14). In January 2006 the pageant moved to its new home and time in Las Vegas, Nevada. The pageant presents itself as a "scholarship pageant," and the primary prizes for the winner and her runners-up are scholarships to the institution of her choice. The Miss America Scholarship program, along with its local and state affiliates, is the largest provider of scholarship money to young women in the world, and in 2006 made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance. Since most of the contestants are college graduates already, or on the verge of graduating, most of their prize money is devoted to graduate school or professional school, or to pay off student loans for courses already taken. The Miss America Scholarship Program, along with its State and Local affiliates, is the largest provider of college scholarships for women in the United States. The Miss America competition originated on September 8, 1921, as a two-day beauty contest in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Excerpt: Vanessa Lynn Williams (born March 18, 1963) is an American model, singer, songwriter and actress. In 1984, she became the first African-American woman to be crowned Miss America, but a scandal caused her to relinquish her title early. Williams rebounded by launching a career as an entertainer, earning Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award nominations. Williams was born in Millwood, New York, the daughter of music teachers Helen and Milton Augustine Williams Jr. Williams and her younger brother Chris, who is also an actor, grew up in Millwood, a predominantly white middle-class suburban area. Prophetically, her parents put "Here she is: Miss America" on her birth announcement. Williams studied piano and French horn growing up, but was most interested in singing and songwriting. She received a scholarship and attended Syracuse University as a Theatre Arts major from 1981 to 1983. She discontinued her education at Syracuse during her sophomore year to fulfill her duties as Miss America, and then subsequently left the university to focus on her entertainment career. Twenty-five years later she graduated from Syracuse by earning her remaining college credits through her life experience with two long running Broadway shows and a Tony Award nomination under her belt. Excerpt: The Comfort Zone is the second studio album by American R&B singer Vanessa Williams, released by Polydor on August 20, 1991 (see 1991 in music). The album peaked at #17 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and reached number one on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In the U.K., it peaked at number twenty four upon its release before quickly falling out of the top fifty. It later re-entered the UK chart around the Christmas season, and climbed into the Top 20 and went on to receive a UK platinum certificate for sales of 310,000 copies. The first single off the album was "Running Back to You", a '70s funk-influenced uptempo track, which sampled a song from The Breakfast Club. The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number eighteen on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "The Comfort Zone", the second single, peaked at sixty two on the Hot 100, but number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. "Save the Best for Last" reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks straight. "Just for Tonight", was the fourth single from the album reaching number twenty-six on the Hot 100, followed by "Work to Do" which achieved moderate success. The album sold 2.8 million worldwide at its time of release, with 2.2 million of those sold in the US. It has since been certified three times platinum in the US and gold in Canada by the CRIA. Excerpt: "Colors of the Wind" by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz was the 1995 Oscar-winner for Best Original Song from the Disney animated feature film Pocahontas. It also won the Golden Globe in the same category as well as the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Movie. The song poetically presents the Native American viewpoint that the earth is a living entity where humankind is connected to everything in nature. The song was performed within the movie's narrative by Judy Kuhn as the singing voice of Pocahontas. Singer/actress Vanessa Williams recorded a version for the end credits which was successfully released as a single and became one of Williams' biggest hits in 1995, earning a Gold single for sales of 500,000 copies, and reaching #4 on the U.S. charts. For her version, Williams received a Grammy nomination as Best Pop Female Vocal Performance in 1996 (she lost to Annie Lennox's "No More I Love You's"). In the song, Pocahontas attempts to explain to John Smith about the wonders of the earth and nature including the spirit within all living things, encouraging him not to think of them as things he can conquer or own, but rather as beings to respect and live with in harmony. She also urges him to accept humans who are different in appearance and culture and to learn from them. The first line of the chorus tells of the wolf crying to the "blue corn moon" with the second line varying with the verse context. The second time the chorus is sung i...http://booksllc.net/?id=1271133 ... Read more
