Product Description
Rishabh (Salman Khan) is a partner in an upcoming media company while Pari is a doctor. Both are intensely in love with each other. They love vowed to work hard to build a life of their dreams. They seem destined to live happily ever after, but fate intervenes. Pari (Preity Zinta) has a fatal accident. Suddenly, Rishabh is all alone. He is devastated. He cannot handle this shattering loss. The four walls that once symbolized their love become a fortress of trapped memories for him. What stops him from being sucked into a whirlpool of depression is but one slender thread - he has still to fulfil Pari's wish - to build a charitable hospital for the poor.Life takes an unexpected turn for Rishabh when he meets Dhani (Bhumika Chawla).Dhani has seen such darkness in her life, that she well realizes the importance of enjoying the smallest of joys that life may throw her way. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Average romance/melodrama with Salman Khan delivering one of his better performances
This is about a husband (Salman Khan) very much in love with his doctor wife (Preity Zinta). She dies requesting her heart go to a patient she knows ( Bhoomika Chawla). The husband opposes this decision and doesn't know who the recipient is. However the girl comes into his life and there is mutual attraction. He resists this. Is the wife pretty much channeling through this heart conveying her wishes? Who is he drawn to - his dead wife or the girl? Will his resistance be too much for the heart of the girl to take?

I found this movie average overall. However Salman Khan was particularly good at conveying subtlety and grief, and it is one of his best performances. In fact he more convincingly conveyed grief than Preity conveyed wasting away (though Preity is always solid and generally is here too). For me (and many others I see) the patient with the heart, while attractive enough, lacks substance and Salman's connection with her seems distant. In fact he showed more spark with a short chat with her best friend. There is also a short divergence into unnecessary comedy with an over-effeminate stereotyped gay boy, which should have been jettisoned.

There is good evidence that in cases of heart transplant the recipient does seem to develop tastes the donor had so the premise is an interesting one. I felt uneasy with the ending of this though. Was he really in love with the girl legitimately or was he trying to continue a shrine to his dead wife through the body of another. Getting them together seemed sudden and forced.

If there is a reason to recommend this is Salman's performance (and if you are a fan of Preity she's mostly fine too). The movie itself though is pretty average but OK enough. Elsewhere on the Net it rates about an average (though some put it down at a 3 out of 10 and a few up at an 8 out of 10). Comments on Salman's better performance and the recipient's bland one are common.

3-0 out of 5 stars If not for Preity Zinta..
I would give this 5 out of 5 if Preity Zinta was the one playing the caracter who got the hearttransplant. Bhumika Chawla is annoying in her role as i think she is in all her filmcaracters. I don't know what, but there's something about her that doesn't convince me. I give Salman Khan 6 out of 5 (haha) as I would watch a movie with him playing a mute caracter.. and Preity Zinta is allways a joy to watch no matter what movie or genre. ... Read more

Excerpt: Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso, usually shortened to Tenzin Gyatso (born Lhamo Döndrub , 6 July 1935) is the 14th Dalai Lama, a spiritual leader revered among the people of Tibet. He is the head of the government-in-exile based in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India. Tibetans traditionally believe him to be the reincarnation of his predecessors. The Dalai Lama was born fifth of seven children to a farming family in the village of Taktser. His first language was, in his own words, "a broken Xining language which was (a dialect of) the Chinese language" as his family did not speak the regional Amdo dialect. He was proclaimed the tulku or rebirth of the 13th Dalai Lama at the age of two. In 1950 the army of the People's Republic of China invaded the region. One month later, on 17 November 1950, he was enthroned formally as Dalai Lama: at the age of fifteen, he became the region's most important spiritual leader and political ruler. In 1951 the Chinese military pressured the Dalai Lama to ratify a seventeen-point agreement which permitted the People's Republic of China to take control of Tibet. Rikki met his fiancé Anaida (Lara Dutta) at The Ritz (Paris), the same night that Princess Diana and Dodi walked out of the hotel and into the paparazzi. As Rikki says, "When two lovers die, another two are a born". They dance... they sing... they're in love!Alvira, a princess by nature discovers her prince at Madame Tussaud's. When a gigantic wax model of Superman falls from the ceiling, Alvira is a sitting target. But Steve the Prince (Bobby Deol), a lawyer by profession saves her life but steals her heart! They also sing, they also dance and they also fall in love...Stories unfold, time passes, the two strangers start enjoying each other. That Alvira is a Pakistani Brit and Rikki originally from India... that Rikki is crooked, earthy, and rakish: dabbler in various businesses; that Alvira is prim-n-proper, wannabe blue-blood, stiff upper-lip: Asst. Manager at House of Fraser's... none of these details matter. They have gotten alarmingly attracted to each other! Their brief encounter has created a complicated quadrangle... Rikki Thukral and Alvira Khan have gotten themselves and Steve and Anaida into a lovely mess... To get out of it both of them bend over backward, thinking quickly on their feet, dancing around each other's emotions... 3-0 out of 5 stars "Sway This Way"
Note: The film is presented in Hindi with English subtitles.

'Jhoom Barabar' is an overall entertaining film of serendipity and kismet unfolding between two strangers who happen to meet at a busy cafe while waiting for a train. A conversation soon ensues and to pass the time they attempt to impress each other by making up an imaginary, romantic tale. They both claim to be waiting for their future mate and express how deliriously happy they are. As you might expect in the course of events they fall in love with each other during the wait and now must swallow their pride and find a way express their true feelings for each other. Neither wanting to let the other know their stories where made up they arrange to meet again and bring along their significant others. Will they continue their mutual charades and lose each other forever or will they find the courage to express their true feelings for each other?

Abhishek Bachchan (Rikki) and Preity Zintal (Alvira) do a solid and believable job of portraying two chance, smitten romantics but I actually preferred the performances of Lara Dutta and Bobby Deol as their make believe lovers. However what really made the movie for me was the four or five intermittent appearances by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan in the whimsical role of a dancing, singing sprite who apparently has some mystical cupid-like connection with the budding relationship between Rikki and Alvira.

Solid production values, recognizable cast and an excellent soundtrack make 'Jhoom Barabar' and easy and enjoyable watch. My rating: -3 Stars-.

good movie, great songs, but there arent that many, like u would expect in a hindi movie

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Movie Ever
This movie is a complete waste of time... would never ever watch it again even if someone paid me to do so... can't believe it's a Yash Raj production.Honestly, this movie doesn't deserve even a single star.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Movie
I was expecting so much from this movie. Especially after watching the previews. I went to see this movie in the theater. What a huge disappointment. This is one of the first Yash Raj films that actually bored me to sleep. The first half was so boring, I wanted to walk out the movie cinema. Finally the second half had a little dancing but that was it.
The music of this movie was nice. Not worth it to buy this dvd. rent it first.I give this movie 3 stars for the music and dancing, not the story line.
