Maybe for some people Gade is still a well known name, but who knows the name Asger Hamerik? Nevertheless it is an adventure to re-discover this late-romantic composer and a rewarding discovery, too. While reading about classical music you may have noticed that it is common practice to point out certain influences a composer had on the style of another composer. The composers with the most influence on Hamerik's music may have been Berlioz, J.P.E. Hartmann and of course Gade. But in the end no description of music can replace the actual listening. This should be combined with a little knowledge about the composer himself - and this is what this site wants to provide.
