A Must Have Book!
I played many Clementi sonatinas in my younger years and decided to give this a try.I've only been able to try out a few since I just received this book but I have a feeling it is going to be one of my favorites. I can't wait to be able to sit down and really play these.The book is beautiful and the music is difficult so I would not recommend this for a beginner.

Pretty good edition
This reproduction by Dover of the Peters edition of these sonatas is pretty good and very affordable.

First time Clementi
I brought this after reading about how Beethoven liked Clementi sonatas and how much better his sonatas are comparing with his sonatinas (which i find boring). The very first sonata - op.7 no.3 attracted me immediately so that I decided to learn it. There're some very rich sound/polyphonic elements in it like Bach's, and also dramatic elements like Beethoven's, which just make this sonata sounding quite unique and fun to play. It's my first time learning a Clementi sonata, and find it a fascinating experience. I'd recommend any intermediate or advanced pianists give Clementi sonatas a try!

Not what most people think when they think of Clementi

Clementi Sonatinas
The music book came but took about a month.Luckily I didn't need it right away.

Great product, as always
Exactly what I was looking for - and Amazon has a great price.Perfect music for pianists working on technique.

I still like op. 36 the best.
The volume consists of op. 36, which consists of the 6 sonatinas for which Clementi is best known, 3 more sonatinas which comprise op. 37, and 3 more which comprise op. 38.Although the third movement of op. 37 no. 3 is quite melodious, op. 36 still reigns as the most enjoyable of the three.

Don't let the opus numbers mislead you.Clementi composed op. 37 and op. 38 in 1780 and op. 36 in 1798.The opus numbers were assigned by someone later, and not by Clementi.

It seems that many composers have a tendency to become more complex during the course of their careers.Clementi, apparently, was an exception.

This is off the subject, but the University of Tennessee Library has a set of the complete works of Clementi reproduced in manuscript form.There is a delightful set of waltzes in this set.

Charming intermediate pieces
Being charmed by the Allegro from Sonatina in G Major (Opus 36 no.2) out of 'The Piano Handbook' by Carl Humphries The Piano Handbook: A Complete Guide for Mastering Piano, I was eager to find more of these short, intermediate Clementi works for myself and my students. This book is a wonderful well edited compilation of these pieces, which Beethoven so often recommended to his students for their elegance and logical clarity. I must agree with the great Titan that these works are excellent for the intermediate classical piano student.
