Is there a difference between black and white schools?
Mr Luke maybe the first observer to describe the academic, social and administrative behavior of New York City public schools in such bold, unforgiving terms.Blackberries and Black Students is the first transparent examination of the culture of education that characteristically defines many predominantly minority schools in an urban environment.It objectifies a number of important sentiments and concerns that have engrossed many educators for a long time but which, for a number of reasons, had gone unarticulated.It should be required reading for prospective teachers enrolled in undergraduate education programs, and should be an item on the syllabuses of graduate education courses as well.

Even if you do not agree philosophically with everything he says, you will be mesmerized, as I was, by his mastery of the English language.This book should be part of the library of every pedagogue, principal, assistant principal, superintendent, even the chancellor himself.

Clifton Luke's new book, MERMAIDS ON NEPTUNE: LITERARY REFLECTIONS ON CONEY ISLAND CULTURE, is unlike anything I have read about Coney Island.As amatter of fact, it may be the only book on Coney Island written in such a literary style. His facility with the English language is quite impressive, as is his familiarity with, and constant allusions to, literary, historical and musical influences.It is obvious that he is a consummate reader and intellectual who is able to relate mundane events and experiences to hidden, symbolic motifs that we often take for granted.

Good stuffs
For who ever study about animal physiology and human phisiology, this book would be a good option for you. With a reasonable price for these much information you will gain, I will definitely recommend everyone in biology major to read and make it become of your favorite book.

Bad bad bad
I ordered a book that said it was in good condition and i paid for two day shipping. The book did not come due to shipping issues through the post office for a month but I never saw the extra money that I paid for two day shipping. Also, it was rated in good condition but when it came, the spine was literally falling off. ALtogether, a more than disappointing experience.

This book provides an ok overview of Medical Physiology.Do not expect the most up to date information in this edition nor good coverage on all subjects.

Clear, concise, illustrated
This was the standard A and P text book when I was in college.It is still, after all these years, an excellent resource.Admittedly it is now dated, but the basics are still true and this book is clear, well illustrated and he does an excellent job of explaining each topic. Example topics: Cell Physiology, Blood and Immunity, Cardiovascular System, Urinary System, Respiration, Nervous System, Gastrointestinal and metabolic Systems, Endocrinology and Reproduction.Good index.Graphs, charts,andsketches (all B&W) on almost every page helps explain the concepts.I recently took an medical technical class and this was still a good reference for the anatomy and physiology section of that course.
