Excerpt: "Release Me" is a popular song by Eddie Miller, Robert Yount, and Dub Williams, published in 1946. Miller wrote the song in 1946 but could not get anyone to record it for years, so he recorded it himself in 1953. Shortly afterward it was covered by Jimmy Heap, and with even better success by Ray Price and Kitty Wells. Subsequently a big seller was recorded by Little Esther Phillips, who reached number one on the R&B chart and number eight on the pop chart. A version by Engelbert Humperdinck reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. The Engelbert Humperdinck song has the distinction in the UK of holding the number-one slot in the chart for six weeks during March and April 1967, and preventing The Beatles single, "Penny Lane" / "Strawberry Fields Forever", from reaching the top. "Release Me" was also the highest selling single of 1967 in the UK, recording over one million sales. The story of how the song reached number one in the UK Singles Chart is one of pure chance and being in the right place at the right time. In 1965, Humperdinck, who at the time was performing under the name of Gerry Dorsey, met up again with an old friend of his, Gordon Mills. By this time Mills was successfully managing Tom Jones. He took him onto his management roster and changed his name. He released a couple of near misses in the UK although one song "Dommage, Dommage" had been successful in Europe. Excellent German language score
Finding a german language score for Hansel and Gretel is nie on impossible, so when I found this one I snatched it up.It's a beautiful score with very clean pages with clear and wide staves.The German and English texts are far enough apart that you can easily white one or the other out as need be.I would highly recommend this score for anyone in search of the hidden gem Hansel and Gretel auf deutsch is.

Dover Score of Humperdinck's H&G
This is a nice edition, easy to use and in clear, though relatively small print. At least you don't have to turn pages too often ;)
There is a new Schott edition of the same piece available, at least in their hire library, which includes bar numbers as well. There are some, if not say many, differences, and in these cases I would trust Schott. The issues are dynamics and articulation-affected rhytmical issues as well as some small details in orchestration (at the moment I can remember one place which had 2 bassoons in Dover and only 2nd bassoon in Schott).
So, if you are going to perform it, make sure which edition orchestra is using, otherwise this is a great buy. ... Read more
