Well...not what I expected
I wasn't thrilled with it. I found that, even as a new Mac user, this book is too basic as far as it goes concerning Snow Leopard itself. Any user of a PC would know most of the stuff contained in here concerning basics just by fooling around for a couple days. True, the book gives direction and so one would waste less time, and the book does contain chapters on using specific features, but I was hoping for more info on how to perform basic tasks like unistalling applications, drivers and so on. Along with other maintenance tasks I'm used to doing in Windows XP Pro.

Course I can't say a lot for Snow Leopard in general as a very stable platform. Mine has not been since I purchased a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard. There've been chronic problems with it, and problems with Safari as well. XP is a better platform overall, though I'm still glad to get away from PCs, frought with their own host of problems/issues. (I have Windows installed in Bootcamp as a matter of necessity in a business world that uses only Windows.)

To be fair (and giving it 3 stars), I'm sure the book is fine for people looking for intros to a number of bundled features, from using I-Tunes to trying to figure out Time Machine (which is no Restore Point, believe me!). But that's not what I expected in a manual that says on the cover: "Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard." I expected a manual on understanding and using the platform itself to solve problems with the platform itself (yes akin to Windows various system tools and so on, which Mac OSes seem to lack in general), not on using the applications bundled with it. The title is a little misleading.

If your thing is playing with all the mini-applications, then go for it. If you work on computers in a more professional capacity, look for a different book.

Robin Williams never ceases to amaze. As a Mac user for many, many years, it's always wonderful to pick up her latest and see what the new Mac brings. The format is easy to follow and if I need to find how to do something quickly, it's easy to do. Kudos to Ms. Williams and Mr. Tollett.

Snow Leopard
I gave this book as a gift and haven't had any feed back from the "receiver". I leafed through it and it looks like it had bunches of good information for this new Mac program.

pretty good piece
This is another great piece, and I would recommend buying it because it is a good version the itzhak perlman played.

disappointed...
I love this music and the way Perlman played it.I recently bought this sheet music assuming that it is edited by Perlman since the cover page has "For Itzhak Perlman" on it and somewhere on the website says "by Itzhak Perlman".I was very disappointed to find out that the violin part was not edited, not by Perlman, not by anybody.No fingerings. Fascinating
This book is a fascinating look at ten Christian mythmakers, that is authors who have used the power of myth to convey Christian truths in a new way. The narrative begins with John Bunyan and his seminal Pilgrim's Progress, continues through George Macdonald, G.K. Chesterton, Charles Williams, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and finishes up with Madeleine L'Engle, Walter Wangerin, Robert Siegel, and Hannah Hurnard.

Professor Hein begins with a short biography of the author, and then proceeds to explain the author's work, examining its theology and significance. I found this book to be quite fascinating, with the author giving me a look at these masterpieces of Christian literature in a way that I had never thought of before. If you are a fan of any of the authors above, then I highly recommend that you get this book!

If you enjoy these authors, this book is a must read!
I had the privilege of taking courses under Dr Hein in the early 90's at Wheaton.He is a very knowledgeable teacher and has great affection for the people he is writing about in this book.If you have any interest inthese authors, this book is a must read.I wasn't aware that he hadwritten this book when I came across it looking for books on GeorgeMacDonald and C.S. Lewis.As an Economics major, I somehow ended up takingfour Lit. classes from Dr Hein because he is such a good instructor andpassionate about his subject matter.

Good overview of ideas of the writers
Christian Mythmakers is a good overview of some of the thoughts and ideas of various Christian fantasy writers.While the chapter on John Bunyan is basically little more than a summary of Pilgrim's Progress, the rest of thebook is interesting and thought provoking.The chapter on Charles Williamsis a "must read" for anyone interested in or confused byWilliams' work. ...
