he Living Composers Project Gray John S (b. January 18, 1953, Halifax, Nova Scotia). Canadian composer of many electroacoustic works, a few ensemble pieces and music for film and piano; he is also a skilled pianist and keyboardist, and composes for these instruments frequently. Little Spring Song in Winterport, Maine. He failed to pass on any of his conservatory grades, and he sang in J.D. Ford's King's College School Chapel Choir, 1966-69. He wrote his first work in 1973, and continued as a chorister from 1974-75 in the Dalhousie Chorale (under Peter Fletcher). He was an undergraduate music major at Dalhousie University during the same years, but his studies were not completed, and no degree was granted to him. He was involved with Steve Tittle's performing ensemble Murphy's Law, first as poster designer/artist, then singer in the chorus and finally instrumental performer, 1975-78. He took part in a performance with the large anarchic ensemble the Epistome Orchestra in November 1977. In summer 1979, he was temporarily in charge of the Experimental Sound Studio, and in spring 1980, he had several meetings with filmmaker Floyd Gillis, leading to work on the Perspectives soundtrack and later on the Time Lines soundtrack. He would later do film scores for Jim MacSwain as well.

for communism
Communism is a society without money, without a state, without property and without social classes. People come together to carry out a project or to respond to some need of the human community but without the possibility of their collective activity taking the form of an enterprise that involves wages and the exchange of its products. The circulation of goods is not accomplished by means of exchange: quite the contrary, the by-word for this society is "from each according to their abilities, to each according to their needs".
With communism the government of people gives way to the administration of things. Contrary to the illusion produced by the present society the state and its institutions are not the inevitable result of the growth and complexities of societies, but the opposite, the result of the frantic socialisation of the species without community. The necessity for distinct organs of administration, repression and assistance has its cause in the maintenance of class society. The state is the defender of the dominant class which is increasingly integrated into it. It is forced to alleviate destitution which is increased by a social life where man becomes a predator for man.
With communism the oppositional but complementary relationship between the political and economic spheres disappears, i.e. between the citizen supposedly governing society in freedom and equality, and the producer as a slave to material necessity, hierarchy and the despotism of the factory. Communist theory and struggle are a critique of economy and politics.

GOMS Meets the Phone Company: Analytic Modeling Applied to Real-world Problems
GOMS analyses were used to interpret some perplexing data from a field evaluation of two telephone operator workstations. The new workstation is ergonomically superior to the old and is preferred by all who have used it. Despite these advantages telephone operators who use the new workstation are not faster than those who use the old but are, in fact, significantly slower. This bewildering result makes sense when seen with the aid of GOMS. With GOMS we can see that very few of the eliminated key-strokes or ergonomic advantages affect tasks that determine the operator's work time. Indeed, GOMS shows that some presumed procedural improvements have the contrary effect of increasing the time an operator spends handling a phone call. We concluded that if GOMS had been done early on, then the task, not the workstation, would have been redesigned. This page has been accessed times.

Project Ernestine served a pragmatic as well as a scientific goal: to compare the worktimes of telephone company toll and assistance operators on two different workstations, and to test the validity of GOMS models for predicting and explaining real-world performance. Contrary to expectations, GOMS predicted and the data confirmed, that performance with the proposed workstation was slower than with the current one. Pragmaticly, this increase in performance time translates into a cost of $2.4 million dollars a year to NYNEX. Scientificly, the GOMS models predicted performance with exceptional accuracy.

His tests were conclusive in some of these and unfavorable in none. The trials were made in 1827, with the diligence and care due to their importance, and they were most patiently aided and supervised by Dr. Gram, who had not yet acquired much practice of his own. derived from pure observation , in all that large field of practice which still lies outside the precincts of scientific therapeutics. This he thinks cannot justly be called an allopathic position ; it ought to take the name of loyal empiricism, in the right technical meaning of the term. In 1829, the second convert -Dr. Abraham D. Wilson- joined Gram and took his place as a homœopathist with Gray, ready to encounter the same losses and trials as he had to do and did. Next came Dr. Channing, Dr. Gerald Hull, and Dr. Vanderburgh ; but each of these with less opposition from the profession and less losses in professional income, and by 1834, the band of the new faith was large enough to break up the loneliness of position which Wilson and Gray had felt so keenly till they were so reinforced. Besides, Hering came to the United States in 1833, and other men of learning and talent in Pennsylvania very soon joined him, making there a powerful compensation for New York ostracism. Gray's joy at these accessions was very great. He often went over to see and confer with Hering and his Philadelphia colleagues.

THE LAIR OF HUNTERBEAR THREE YEARS OLD ON FEBRUARY 14, 2003 We cannot run away from the Winds of Challenge and Change. We have to take History and ride with it. Always ahead, always toward the Sun. And always aware that Democracy is natural and, given half a chance, it will always flourish. We have big fish to fry and we're going to have to do it in an American skillet over a long-burning fire from the timber of our own forests.
I was born from the Four Directions and things are always interesting. This extremely large Website is super-full of fascinating material: social justice radicalism, militant labor, Native cultures and issues and rights, and civil rights and civil liberties. GRAY, JOHN DE
Gray wrote, besides scientific addresses and many monographs, Telegraphy and Telephony (1878) and Electricity and Magnetism GRAY, HENRY PETERS (1819—1877), American portrait and genre painter, was born in New York on the 23rd of June 1819. He was a pupil of Daniel Huntington there, and subsequently studied in, Rome and Florence. Elected a member of the National Academy of Design in 1842, he succeeded Fluntington as president in 1870, holding the position until 1871. The later years of his life were devoted to portrait work. He was strongly influepced by the old Italian masters, painting in mellow colour with a classical tendency. One of his notable canvases was an allegorical composition called “ The Birth of our Flag” (1875). He died in New York City on the 12th of November 1877. See Francis C. Lowell, “ Horace Gray,” in Proceedings of the American Academy, vol. 39, pp. 627-637 (Boston, 1904). GRAY, JOHN DE (d. 1214), bishop of Norwich, entered Prince John’s service, and at his accession (1199) was rapidly promoted in the church till he became bishop of Norwich in September 1200. King John’s attempt to force him into the primacy in 1205 started the king’s long and fatal quarrel with Pope Innocent III. De Gray was a hard-working royal official, in finance, in justice, in action, using his position to enrich himself and his family. In 1209 he went to Ireland to govern it as justiciar. He adopted a forward policy, attempting to extend the English frontier northward and westward, and fought a number of campaigns on the Shannon and in Fermanagh. But in 1212 he suffered a great defeat. He assimilated the coinage of
