General Information
The English, Math and Chemistry Placement Tests are designed to assess the current reading, writing and math/chemistry skills of prospective students wanting to attend Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). These tests not only place the student into the appropriate English, Math and Chemistry classes, but they also give the student an idea of their skill level for other classes. The Placement Tests are held in Room 3102 unless stated otherwise, please check below. Please refer to a campus map for exact room locations. Latecomers will not be admitted after test begins. On the day of the Placement Test you will be required to know your Social Security number. All test materials will be provided.
English Placement Test
The English Placement Test is comprised of an Assessment and Placement Services (APS) test of multiple choice questions. The APS test takes 50 minutes to complete. Several multiple measures are also considered when determining course placement. The highest APS score given is 75 points. The English Placement Test results are valid for 3 years. Your APS score will place you into one of the following English courses. CSKL 333 Intro to Basic Reading and Writing Skills ENGL 302 Improvement of College Reading and Writing CSKL 350E Beginning Reading ENGL 100 College Reading and Writing (satisfies SRJC English requirement) ENGL 305 Development of College Reading and Writing Skills ENGL 1A Reading and Composition (transferable to University/4 yr. College)
