These include the Chickahominy, the Eastern Chickahominy, the Mattaponi, the Upper Mattaponi, the Monacan, the Nansemond, the Pamunkey and the Rappahannock. Some Virginia tribes are listed on the Bureau of Indian Affairs' List of Petitioners as seeking status as tribes recognized by the U. S. government. These include petitions filed by the United Rappahannock Tribe, Inc., The Upper Mattaponi Tribe, Inc., the Ani-Stohini/Unami Nation, Mattaponi Tribe (Mattaponi Indian Reservation), the Monacan Indian Tribe and the Chickahominy Indian Tribe. Criminal Geography of Fredericksburg, Virginia By Kimberly Blizzard and Katie Henderson November 26, 2001 Violent crime in Fredericksburg, Virginia and its surrounding counties, Stafford and Spotsylvania, has decreased since its increase in the mid 1990s as a result of an increase in non-violent crimes, such as property crimes and drug abuse, and increase in population. Fredericksburg holds higher total crime status in the medium rate in comparison to its surrounding because of the higher density of population in the city. The population from the major cities, such as Washington, D.C., has sent a wave of migration from the city to the less populated areas in the lower counties, such as Stafford and Spotsylvania. Criminal History of Fredericksburg Fredericksburg, a city located to the south of Washington, D.C. and north of Virginiaís capital city, Richmond, has been said to hold the oldest history in the country.
