View by Tissues(labs 1-11) View by Organ Systems(labs 12-23) Mission statement: This section is a compendium of images from the histology lab sessions. Since they were made from the some of the same kodachromes that were used to make the Color Atlas of Veterinary Histology (Bacha, Wood), many of the images will be the same as seen in the book. It is organized by labs and easy to quickly navigate through, providing a quick and easy reference to the images presented in lab. Credit goes to Dr. Patricia McManus of the University of PA School of Vet. Med. for the slides in the mammalian/avian blood and bone marrow sections. Some pages require the use of the quicktime plug-in

http://www.pathguy.com/histo/000.htm
Ed's Basic Histology Gallery This site was placed primarily for the medical students at The University of Health Sciences in Kansas City. It introduces basic concepts of histology actively, without having to schedule classroom time. You will need basic histology competency in the years ahead.
  • You will need it to make sense of what's happening at the tissue level in "Pathology", in reading professional journals, and when you are caring for sick people. You will need it to complete your three "Pathology" signoffs and hundred-or-so lab cases successfully. You will be expected to review at least some of your own biopsies with the pathologist, regardless of your speciality.
Students who complete this exercise can expect to be successful on the first histology signoff. (We are considering this as a requirement for completing the first unit of the new curriculum.) In this exercise, you will be required to identify, all by yourself, under a real microscope with a flesh-and-blood instructor, EACH of the following:
    nuclei
    euchromatin and heterochromatin
    nucleoli
    mitotic figures
    cytoplasm
    simple columnar / cuboidal epithelium
    stratified squamous epithelium
    exocrine glands
    smooth muscle
    skeletal muscle
collagen fibers fat blood vessels lymphatic vessels red blood cells neutrophils lymphocytes
We hope you enjoy the dynamic approach to histology. We encourage you to ask at any time, "What is this cell DOING?"

Department of Biological Sciences
University of Delaware Mammalian Histology (B408) is taught in the fall semester annually and is one of the courses required for the Medical Scholars Program with the Jefferson Medical College. Consequently, it is taught at a comprehensive level and concentrates heavily on human tissues and organ systems. A strong component of this course is tissue structure at the ultrastructural level and how it relates to structure-functional relationships at the light microscopic level. A sizeable collection of color light microscopic images as well as black and white electron microscopic images have been archived and can be accessed by links with this home page. These images files have been produced by: Dr. Roger C. Wagner Professor of Biological Sciences University of Delaware 28499@udel.edu Dr. Fred E. Hossler Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology East Tennessee State University College of Medicine This page was constructed by Anuj Parikh , MSP class of 1998 In addition, labeled illustrations used in lecture have been digitized and may be used for study purposes. Three dimensional models are often useful for understanding the volume structure represented by two dimensional images and several of these are also linked to this page.

  • HistoNet send an e-mail message with " subscribe " in the "subject" line
HistoNet is starting something new to notify you when there's a server problem. Generally, the list is busy enough now there should be some mail every day. If your mail stops for more than a day or so, you can now check this spot on the Histotech's homepage. This may cut down on all the email that generated when there's a server outage.
If your mail has stopped and there's nothing posted ,it may be that you were removed from the list because of a problem with your email system. Whenever mail boxes get full, email systems go down or your internet connection fails, the Histonet server gets a error message back telling us your mail didn't go through. Herb and Linda each spend an hour or two each week going through these messages, deleting them and removing people from the list if they have generated several error message. So anyway, if your mail stops and nothing is posted at the web site for several days subscribe again.
