On the 3rd August, at Beccles, aged 57 years, Matilda, relict of the late Mr Stephen BARTRAM. On the 28th July, the Rev Charles TUFNELL, vicar of Stourpaine, Dorsetshire, aged 44. In addition to the above: -

>From microfilm supplied by the British Library Newspaper Library EPITOME OF SUFFOLK NEWS ....Parish Chests.-By some mischance the Stowmarket parish boxes containing the records and historical papers of the parish, extending over a period of 600 years, were removed by the contractors when the church was restored, and were lost sight of until Tuesday week, when they were found to have been placed upon the waste piece of land in Ipswich-street, and left exposed to the weather. It is stated that some of the parchments having been taken away, attention was drawn to the circumstances, and the remainder have been removed to a place of greater safety. It will be seen by Hollingworth's History of Stowmarket that some of the documents were of great antiquarian value. Indeed, it was said by the late vicar, who arranged them, that they were the most complete set of parish records in the Eastern Counties. It is hoped by all interested that the damage and loss are not so great as anticipated.

Round 26 Match report by Fred Leggett
Marconi-Fairfield v Melbourne Knights
It was fireworks at Marconi, both on and off the pitch. As the final bars of the national anthem drained away, the surprise fireworks display started, much to the delight of the rain affected crowd. Well done Ross, I think everyone appreciated it, as they did the Stallionettes half time 'umbrella' routine - they just get better and better. As does the team. An early flourish from the Knights was all they really contributed to the match, and had the Stallions not taken their foot off the pedal in the second half, the 5-0 scoreline could well have been doubled. Sean Babic scored the first after the prostrate goalkeeper spilled the ball - although I think tv evidence on Monday may show that Babic used an elbow to elude his marker as he powered through to take the chance. An excellent headed goal by Francis Awaritefe (my man of the match) sent the teams in at half time with Marconi 2 up. Francis was delighted to score his 99th Ericsson Cup goal - his first this year incidentally. The second half was basically a one way procession, with Vlado Zoric heading in Marconi's third of the night - and their 1000th national League goal as it turned out, and no doubt I will be corrected, but I think we are the first club to notch the four figure mark.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1999 Globe/Vince Rosati Lions battle to reach 6-0 By Jim Henry Globe Assistant Sports Editor Missouri Southern’s sixth victory didn’t come without a struggle. The Lions broke the game open during a seven-minute span in the second half and decked Saint Francis (Ill.) 76-55 Saturday night in the final game of the Freeman Sports Medicine/Chris Tucker Memorial Basketball Classic at the Lions’ Leggett and Platt Athletic Center. The Lions’ 6-0 start is their best in school history. Their previous best was 5-0 in the 1982-83 season when they finished 20-9. Senior forward Carlos Newberry scored 14 points to lead five Lions in double figures. Newberry, who didn’t score in the first 18½ minutes had 10 second-half points and finished five-of-seven from the floor and two-of-two at the foul line. Center Osiris Ricardo and guard Eddin Santiago netted 11 points apiece, and forward Leo Gomes and guard Carlos Escalera each had 10. Ricardo also snared seven rebounds, and Gomes made five steals. Doug Darguzis, 6-foot-9 senior center, captured game honors with 18 points for Saint Francis (2-5). Darguzis hit eight-of-10 from the field and two-of-three at the line. Forward Brandon Moore contributed 15 points.

The Descendants of Simon Weekes and his Son Francis

Notes taken from a Weeks GEDCOM, original author is unknown It has been said that Francis Weekes came in 1635 to Salem, MA, but there is no record of that statement, but removed to Dorchester, where George Weekes had settled, but that is uncertain, although probable, as Roger Williams lived there.
DOCUMENTARY HISTORY OF RHODE ISLAND WINTHROP PAPERS "After the Colony of Massachussetts Bay had passed upon Roger Williams in the autumn of 1635, Gov. John Winthrop, who was a friend of Williams, wrote privately to him and suggested that he should go and settle at Narragansett Bay." In his letter to Major Mason, dated Providence, 22 June 1670, Williams
Yet he changed his plans even before he left Salem, for while still there he, with more than twenty of his followers, was considering the erection of a plantation at Narragansett Bay. These plans may have been under contemplation even before the act of banishment was passed. (The governor and assistants met at Boston to cnsider about Mr. Williams, as he had drawn about twenty persons to his opinion, and they intended to erect a plantation about Narragansett Bay from whence the infection could spread. A warrant was sent to him to come to Boston immediately but he said he could not come without hazard to life, so a pinnace was sent with
