Chick Young (Bud Abbott) and Wilbur Gray (Lou Costello) are railroad baggage clerks who receive a strange shipment. Two large crates have arrived and have to be delivered to the local House of Horrors, They buckle up and take the crates down to this horror wax museum and begin unpacking the goods. But what they find chills them to the bone. In one of the crates they find Dracula’s coffin - complete with the count’s body (Bela Lugosi) - and the other crate houses the original Frankenstein creature (Glenn Strange). Chick is a rationalist and is sure that these are imitations made of wax, but every time he leaves the room, these creatures come alive and Wilbur is at their horrific mercy. But before long the creatures disappear into the night. In the meanwhile Lawrence Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr.) appears and tries to convince Chick and Wilbur that these creatures must be destroyed. Not knowing that Talbot is in actuality the Wolfman, they all travel to a remote island where a mad scientist is at work to give the Frankenstein creature a new brain, and as it turns out Wilbur’s brain would suit his needs just perfectly. What follows is a furious and hilarious slapstick comedy with scares and laughs mixed at the same rapid pace.

The Abbott and Costello Show First Show Last Show Genre Comedy Network SYN Slot Day Various Slot Time Various Jumped The Shark when... Votes Never Jumped The Second Season Day One Bingo the chimp joins the cast Stinky slaps Lou The cartoon Other Thoughts:
  • The second season (there were only two) They changed the theme song for the worse, gave the show actual plot lines (which inevitably sucked), cut down the ad-libbing, put in an almost unbearable laugh-track and got rid of the best character Stinky. Damn near tragic. Who's on first? HEEEYYYYYY AAAABBBBBAAAAATTTTT!!!!! All time classic series! How could this ever jump- spent many a late night buzz coming home from the bars, or after late Yankee games on WB 11, watching this terrific show! Also, Seinfeld's direct inspiration for his show was from here, no shit! Best characters: Mr. Baciagalupe and Sidney Fields The reason that "Seinfeld" was so popular was that it simply updated the Abbott and Costello TV show. Two New York bachelors in an apartment building and neighborhood inhabited by nuts. If Bud and Lou had been on in California in the 1950s, more people would know that Jerry stole from them. They lived in Paterson, NJ.. not Manhattan... but the Seinfeld analogy is an excellent observation.

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)
A review by Damian Cannon.
A sharply written spoof of 1930s horror films, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein has lost none of its humour with the passage of time. It's the unfortunate reality that when corpses need to be transported, somewhere along the line baggage handlers are going to be involved. Now, Chick Young (Bud Abbott) and Wilbur Grey (Lou Costello) aren't the world's best porters but they get by, even though Chick is frequently infuriated by Wilbur's idiocy. However, when coffins purporting to contain the remains of both Count Dracula and Frankenstein's monster come their way, trouble is on its way. The first case comes with McDougal (Frank Ferguson), the owner of a house of horrors towards which these exhibits are going. Steaming about the lethargy of Chick and Wilbur's sorting, he really blows his top when he sets eyes on the rough handling that his prized specimens are getting. Forced to deliver the cases themselves, when it's dark (of course), Wilbur's poor mental faculties let the duo down immediately. What he's forgotten is the urgent phone call that came through that afternoon, all the way from Lawrence Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr.) in London. Under no circumstances were they to let McDougal have his goods, because the contents are still alive! Unfortunately Talbot is also "The Wolf Man", which means that he grows an awful lot of body hair at the most inopportune moments. Thus Wilbur is left opening one of the boxes, in spooky surroundings, while Chick messes about outside. Distracted by the plaque which describes Dracula's life, the newly-revealed coffin slowly opens to display the piercing gaze of Dracula (Bela Lugosi) himself. Every time Wilbur notices, the lid slams shut and Chick comes running to find that nothing's wrong. This is too much like crying "Wolf!" for Chick's liking.

Abbott: Well, Costello, I'm going to New York with you. Bucky Harris the Yankee's manager gave me a job as coach for as long as you're on the team.
Costello: Look Abbott, if you're the coach, you must know all the players.
Abbott: I certainly do.
Costello: Well you know I've never met the guys. So you'll have to tell me their names, and then I'll know who's playing on the team.
Abbott: Oh, I'll tell you their names, but you know it seems to me they give these ball players now-a-days very peculiar names.
Costello: You mean funny names?
Abbott: Strange names, pet names...like Dizzy Dean...
Costello: His brother Daffy Abbott: Daffy Dean... Costello: And their French cousin. Abbott: French? Costello: Goofe' Abbott: Goofe' Dean. Well, let's see, we have on the bags, Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know is on third... Costello: That's what I want to find out. Abbott: I say Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know's on third. Costello: Are you the manager?

Ala "Who's On First"... by Rabbi Jack Moline ABBOTT: I see you're here for your Hebrew lesson.
COSTELLO: I'm ready to learn.
A: Now, the first thing you must understand is that Hebrew and English have many words which sound alike, but they do not mean the same thing.
C: Sure, I understand.
A: Now, don't be too quick to say that.
C: How stupid do you think I am - don't answer that. It's simple - some words in Hebrew sound like words in English, but they don't mean the same.
A: Precisely.
C: We have that word in English, too. What does it mean in Hebrew?
A: No, no. Precisely is an English word.
C: I didn't come here to learn English, I came to learn Hebrew. So make with the Hebrew.
A: Fine. Let's start with mee. C: You. A: No, mee. C: Fine, we'll start with you. A: No, we'll start with mee. C: Okay, have it your way. A: Now, mee is who. C: You is Abbott. A: No, no, no. Mee is who. C: You is Abbott. A: You don't understand. C: I don't understand? Did you just say me is who? A: Yes I did. Mee is who.
