YES!!! The tie-die idea was definitely in effect. The entire LINE this year spent hours in the dungeon of the band room making these uniforms and they were SWEET. This is the 94' 95' LINE who went undefeated again that year. This was the senior year for alot of the members who graduated in 1995. This picture was also taken at the Chicago competition at North Brook, we finished in 6th place, playing Tom Float music including Paradox and Karn Evil 9. Not too bad, and pretty good. (front row) Kerri Hoesli, Tom Hollinden, Holly Reed, and Brian Nugent. (second row)Donnie Rhodes Travis Powers, Brett Mulzer, and Chad Nugent. (third row) Kim Lutring, Nick Conner, Aaron Brown, Kevin Shaeffer, and Chris Brown. (fourth row) Ryan Hoesli, Desiree Watts, Ryan Akers, Amy Syler, Crystal Powers, and Jason Northerner. Jeff Davis was unable to continue with the Winterline show went we went to Glenbrook.
This picture was also taken during the 1994 and 1995 season, this picture was taken at the University of Moorehead in Kentucky. Our performance there was somewhat crappy, however in the 1998 and 1999 season, the Drumline returned to claim second place. Since the Winterline program has gotten off to it's own start we've only played at Moorehead University twice since. This particular competition features solo performances by members of particpating drumlines across the nation. Including percussion clinics for snare, tenor, and drumset. (front row) Aaron Brown, Chad Nugent, Donnie Rhodes, Holly Reed, Nick Conner, Ryan Hoesli, Jeff Davis, Brett Mulzer, and Travis Powers. (second row)Kevin Shaeffer, Kerry Hoesli, Kim Lutring, Chris Brown, Desiree Watts, Crystal Powers, Ryan Akers, Tom Hollinden, Jason Northerner, and Brian Nugent.

Back to STS-79 Flight Day 05 Highlights:
On Saturday, September 21, 1996, 6:00 a.m. CDT, STS-79 MCC Status Report # 11 reports:
Activities aboard Atlantis/Mir continue smoothly as the nine astronauts and cosmonauts work in their second full day of docked operations.
Flight Day 6 began shortly after 9 p.m. central time Friday when Atlantis' crew was awakened by Mission Control. The continuing transfer of logistical supplies and scientific hardware is proceeding smoothly, with more than 85% of the total transfer items already moved from Atlantis to the Mir.
Early this morning, Mission Specialists Jay Apt and Carl Walz once again worked with the Active Rack Isolation System experiment to replace a broken pushrod. With that complete, Apt monitored the ARIS experiment as STS-79 Commander Bill Readdy and Mir 22 Commander Valery Korzun fired small maneuvering jets on their spacecraft to test the ability of ARIS to damp out any disturbances created by the firings. Walz also is continuing his work with the Mechanics of Granular Materials experiment in Atlantis ' double SPACEHAB module.

Monroe County Circuit Court (This is from a series of posts to the South-Central-KY list made by Sandi Gorin From Sandi:
As most of you know, Monroe Co is a burned courthouse, plus many years ago, the county clerk decided she needed more storage space and hired prisoners to clean out the old records. As the story was told to me, the late Eva Coe Peden and the late Gladys Wilson got word of this and took off at a dead run for Tompkinsville. The prisoners were stuffing old court records into garbage bags and throwing them in the back of a truck. Eva and Gladys (you too Moena?) gathered all they could. Eva and Gladys at least had spent many hours typing all these old papers, the majority of which were given to me by the husband of Eva. If the story is wrong, Moena - correct me. Anyway - these are "newer" because so many of the old records were burned, but they certainly fill in a lot of pieces. I will be running a series of abstracts from these - they are in random order as per names and dates (altho I will be starting with the plaintiffs A thru BIGGERSTAFF. I have 6 volumes in print of these. Return main page This page provided by GeoCities

HOUSTON – The best way to get to Carnegie Hall may be practice, practice, practice and the same goes for spacewalkers working on the Hubble Space Telescope. Working on the Hubble requires a combination of things: finessing delicate instruments squeezed into tight areas while in a bulky spacesuit and gloves; developing a rapport and routine with the other spacewalker and robot arm operator; as well as following a carefully orchestrated schedule all while being prepared for the unexpected. Above all, an astronaut needs to remain calm and not worry about the pressure to succeed. "It’s like being on the 18th green and thinking you’ll miss a shot," said former astronaut Tom Akers. "You can’t think about that. Keep your mind on what you’re doing." Akers and fellow spacewalker Kathy Thornton had the high-profile assignment in 1993 to install a device to correct the Hubble’s optical problems discovered after it was launched in 1990. The planned 3.5-hour task took about 35 minutes, but Akers said the duo was ready for most anything.

    CHOY - LI - HO - FUT - HUNG
    SAN SOO - KUNG FU
Our "style" of Kung Fu is called Choy Li Ho Fut Hung. It was first taught to Americans in the early 1960's by Chin Siu Dek , who learned it from his great uncle Chin Siu Hueng . It has been in the Chin family for seven generations, originating in a Kwan Yin monastery in the village of Pon Hong, Guangdong Province of Southern China. Lo Sifu Chin Siu Dek also brought with him two Buddhist training texts which date back to the early 1500's. Our Art also has ties to the Choy Li Fut and Shaolin styles of Kung Fu. Kung Fu itself has it's origins in the very basics of Chinese feudal life two thousand years ago. Choy Li Ho Fut Hung is not "sport fighting", but an authentic, traditional Chinese martial art. It is based on combinations of punches, kicks, leverages, take downs, and throws in perfect rhythm. These techniques are directed to vital points of the human body. The utilization of physics involving movement and leverage, along with concentration and controlled breathing, are all aspects of Choy Li Ho Fut Hung. This type of "free fighting" is known as San Soo. As a traditional Chinese martial art, hard physical training and fighting, along with empty hand and weapons forms, and traditional exercises are all stressed. But most important is the development of discipline, self confidence, and human character. The Art lies not in victory or defeat, but in the building of human character. Also, the traditions, philosophies, and culture of the Chinese martial arts are stressed.

In March of 1997, Sifu Akers wrote an article for The International Kung Fu San Soo Association Newsletter Traditions Within A Mo Gwoon
By: Master Tom Akers The history of the Chin family and the art of Tsoi-Li-Ho-Fut Hung ga San Soo is steeped in the history of traditions of China itself and you can not separate them.
In China the Mo Gwoon (school) was supported by the community. In return the Mo Gwoon provided security and treated people with herbs, acupuncture and Chinese medicine. They helped with many problems, financial and spiritual. The Temples (Taoist and Buddhist) and the Mo Gwoons were the most important places in the community. The head SiFu was very powerful in his community. When the SiFu became too old to teach, he and his family continued to live in the Mo Gwoon. It was the responsibility of a SiFu's disciples to take care of him in his old age, and his family after he died.
The Mo Gwoon of Lo’SiFu’s Great Uncle Chin Siu Hung was constantly besieged with requests to become disciples. It was a great honor to be accepted. Everywhere he or his senior disciples went, people would beg them “Please teach me.” They were very selective.
Upon acceptance of a new disciple a tea ceremony would be held, where candles and incense were lighted. The new disciple would vow allegiance and declare to uphold the traditions of the Mo Gwoon. A new disciple would be given a red packet (usually money) and then would move into the Mo Gwoon where many times he would remain for the rest of his life. He would train and do as the family and head SiFu wished. This is the origin of the Chinese term Yup Sot Dai Ji, meaning disciple. Yup Sot means to enter the SiFu’s house and Dai Ji means student. This was how it was all through history until Lo’SiFu came to the United States.
