Gray St. Many people have worked very long hours and/or supplied (or contributed) materials to make the construction of this house possible -the first for our College of Architecture. Sam Mockbee, as our Goff Scholar, got us started (he was scheduled to be here, but had to cancel), Linda Price of the City of Norman connected us with Shirley Wynne as client and HUD for funding. In the Fall Semester, design of the house was done individually, then collectively by Gary Armbruster, Bill Ashworth, Chris Cleburn, Brian Easley, Bob Erickson, Anna Finigan, Phil Hayes, Steve Londry, Scott Lowe, Sara Megee, Chris Miller, Jace Paddleford, Karla Smalley, and Mike Esser. Between semesters, drawings and specifications were developed for the Contract between the University and the City, with Moore-Norman Votech supplying the 'trades'. In late January the house was demolished and the new begun in early February. Most of the above students continued to work on the construction, joined by other students from Architecture, Construction, and Interiors: Dalinda Schaaf, Lisa Porter, Sonal Gandhi, Tom Biddick, Rory Carlisle, Greg Mohr, Mike Mitscher, Karl Tietz, Liza Conrades, Jill Welch, Jason Wenzel, Mark Wershay, Floyd Vann, Lidje Ayalew, Other students registering: Becky Bagget, Chris Ellis, Cheryl Gates, Omi Omilaye, Shau Lin Hon, Julia Yoon, and Mark Deaver.

We will screen films that deal with topical issues and promote independent voices, as well as reflect a part of our own community in Upstate New York. The first in the series, scheduled for this October, will be a celebration of Native American culture. This program provides the public with the opportunity to see new work coming out of Native American communities, and to keep abreast of the social and political issues concerning Native Americans and the population at large. After the success of the film series "Voices from the Arab World" last year, the Rochester Contemporary realized that a scheduled forum for showing short film/video and real alternative works by independent filmmakers dealing with timely, socially relevant, powerful and non-commercial content was all but unavailable in the greater Rochester region. virtual geograhies Chris Craig Virtual Geographies was as a project for nine Fine Art students at the University the West of England. It was a residency project that ran at the Watershed Media centre in Bristol (UK) that gave the students the opportunity to work artists, Yasser Rashid, Annie Lovejoy, Mac Dunlop and the Art group Mongrel. The project focussed on mapping the social and political context of a chosen environment, a geography that exists as a virtual layer on a physical location, from cultural identity to geography in cyberspace. The students had to negotiate a territory or site for the work and translate it into an exhibition, at the Watershed ,in January 2000. Tuesday October 12th 1999 Jacky Puzey , the Watershed Exhibitions officer along with the university project tutor Nick Lowe, discussed the residency program, outlining the project, with all interested students.
