Snider Of all the misbegotten, asinine movie sequels Hollywood has ever cooked up, "Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2" might be the worst. Not only is it an illogical, nastily violent affair full of stock characters and slasher-movie tactics, but it's a sequel to a movie that absolutely needed no sequel in the first place. We could forgive the latter crime of being an unwarranted sequel if it weren't for the former crime of being, sequel or not, a really bad movie. The twin transgressions of being awful AND unnecessary make this train wreck nothing more than a testament to Hollywood's greed mentality. The film starts with title cards telling us that what we're about to see is a re-enactment of actual events. " Blair Witch Project " started the same way, of course, with one important difference: "BWP" claimed to be the actual footage left behind by amateur filmmakers who had fallen victim to a rural Maryland witch legend they were researching. "Book of Shadows" merely claims to be a re-enactment.

About Me Ancestors Computing ... Lets Munch BIOGRAPHY
The British author George Orwell, pen name for Eric Blair , achieved prominence in the late 1940's as the author of two brilliant satires. He wrote documentaries , essays, and criticism during the 1930's and later established him as one of the most important and influential voices of the century. "On each landing, opposite the lift shaft, the poster with the enormous face
gazed down from the wall. It was one of these pictures
which are so contrived that the eyes follow you about when you move
BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU,
the caption beneath ran." - from Nineteen Eighty-Four E His parents had forced him to work hard at a deary preparatory school, and now after winning the scholarship, he was not interested any more in further mental exertion unrelated to his private ambition. At the beginning of Why I Write , he explains that from the age of five or six he had known that he would be- must be- a writer. But in order to become a writer one had to read literature. But English literature was not a major subject at Eton, where most boys came from backgrounds either irremediably unliterary or so literary that to teach them 'English Literature' would be absurd. One of Eric's tutors later declared that his famous pupil had done absolutely no work for five years. This was of course untrue: Eric has apprenticed himself to the masters of English prose who most appealed to him - including Swift, Sterne and Jack London.....

WITCH PROJECT
Reviewed by Eric Lurio
Rating: The Blair Witch Project The concept is intriguing. In 1994, a young filmmaker (Heather Donahue) and two of her friends (Michael Williams and Joshua Leonard) disappear in the Maryland woods while making a documentary and a year later the footage they took is found. What we have is a new kind of low budget horror film. One which the lack of quality is intentional. It makes it look real, and that's where the horror is supposed to come from. We know from the beginning that Heather doesn't know what she is doing. There is almost a child-like glee at the beginning of the film. The interviews she and her friends make at the beginning of the film are almost laughable in their incompetence. Then the three go into the woods for their two-day expedition. There seems to be a number of legends the documentary is supposed to deal with, the Blair Witch being only on of them. The "official" takes are really cheesy. Then they realize that they are being followed. They get lost. They fight, whatever it is that's stalking them leaves gifts. Everyone gets more paranoid as they run out of food and water. The tension being built up is palpable. You can feel it. But knowing that this is fiction dulls the sense of anticipation. Will we see whatever it is?
