Men's Lacrosse Drops Season Opener, 18-3 Eagles fall to Great Danes in opening game of the season. March 18, 2002 Albany, N.Y.
- The Boston College men's lacrosse team lost their first official game of the season on Saturday afternoon at Albany, N.Y. John Cella, Sean Connelly, and Matthew Safaii each tallied one goal for the Eagles and Ted Cella added an assist. With the loss, Boston College falls to 0-1 on the season while Albany improves to 2-1. BC struck first as sophomore John Cella got BC on the board less than three minutes into the game. However, BC's 1-0 lead would not last long as Albany went on to score twelve consecutive goals. About ten minutes into the third period, senior Sean Connelly ended Albany's run by sneaking one by Albany goalie Kevin Rae. With 11:42 left in the fourth period, BC added their final goal as Ted Cella found senior Matthew Saffai open in front of the net who put it past the goalie. After BC's first goal, Albany's defense tightened up and allowed BC only 18 more shots in the game. As Albany's defense tightened, their offense caught fire and was too much for BC to contain. BC goalies James Karambay and Michael Tait were bombarded by 51 Albany shots. Karambay made a solid effort playing 44:05 and making 18 saves. Tait made four saves in five minutes.

The GLASS CANDY "Love Love Love" LPs and NUMBERS "Ee-Uh!" 12"/CD are here finally, and are in the store. Color vinyl for both is on a first come first served basis. Also, the GLASS CANDY LP version art is different than the CD version, so don't be confused. We also have GLASS CANDY posters available in the store. We don't have many of these, and they look great! Also, the GLASS CANDY LPs are a little more expensive because they were expensive as hell to make, but it was worh every penny. Trust me. You will not be disappointed. Mew MP3s coming very soon.
Playlist: The Ali G show, Liquid Liquid reunion show (totally blew my mind. AMAZING!)
We have the debut zine from ELFBOOT , our resident artist in the store (Non-TMU section). It is super thick, some of it is color. All the art are his original pieces. A few you may have seen, but most are new. It is an excellent thing. He made 40 numbered copies. Be sure to check this out because you won't be disappointed. If you aren't familiar with his stuff, he designed the website and the ads you see in all your favorite magazines, as well as a staff photographer. Most importantly, he is a key contributing photographer for the Society Page.
The BLACK DICE 12"s are all gone. Try Catsup Plate. They may have some. Meanwhile, we got a cool item in the store today! Check it out!

SACHEM WARD MELVILLE The #4 seeded Sachem Flaming Arrows defeated the #1 seeded Ward Melville Patriots 7-6 in the Suffolk County semi final game at King’s Park in front of 1,200 cheering fans. Sachem will face Northport in the County Championship on Sat. June 2nd at Hofstra University. The two-time NYS Champion Ward Melville Patriots were denied a chance to defend their title by an aggressive Sachem team who kept the Patriots out of rhythm throughout the game. Senior All-County Midfielder Nick Miaritis opened the scoring on an unassisted goal to put the Patriots up 1-0. Just 20 seconds later, Sophomore Midfielder Mike Ward fired one passed Sachem Goalie Senior Matt Darak to make the score 2-0. Sachem answered back with their first goal by Senior Midfielder Paul Blumenauer on an assist from Senior All-County Attackman Jamie Lovejoy, who lead all Sachem scoring with 5 assists. Sachem scored their second goal on a good shot from Senior Midfielder Cody Shea, off Lovejoy’s second assist. The first quarter ended at 2-2.

REGULAR MEETING
SEPTEMBER 10, 1999
Present:
John Harvey, Chair
Bon Heaton, Selectman
Thornton Stearns
Bill Wichman
Richard Hart Howard Parkhurst, Treasurer
Dave Gagne Bruce Beckley, Secretary Tom Wilkins Anne Krantz
Business:
The August meeting minutes were approved. The Treasurer had received no bank statement or town accountant’s report on which to report. The town has yet to set up the accounting for the Peabody Mill Environmental Center so no status of accounts could be reviewed. Jan reported on sending our news to the NHACC for its newsletter. Charles Koch will be asked to register the Daquino Forest as a tree farm. Bill reported the wetlands survey has progressed well and the field work will be completed soon. Alice Pacquette and several teenage 4-H members appeared to request support in their effort to clear the former Bedford Ski Club slope at the Bragdon Farm. Primarily they wish to remove the invasive autumn olive and scrap metal. The ACC said support in the form of chipping or removal of material from the site would be given. The ACC asserted its interest in the property and desire to uphold the voters’ desire that the land be managed for conservation. It was a surprise to most members to learn that new survey markers are evident on the hill where communications facilities had previously been proposed. John reported on communications from DES regarding a cease and desist order being served on a Baboosic Lake owner for illegal filling at Lot 24-59. Review of a proposed subdivision along the Souhegan River brought out concerns for setbacks and future streambank erosion. The Commission would like to see future access provided for over a road abandoned when the NBAS was created in 1943 as the Tyrrel land is subdivided. The commissioners realize this is outside the ordinance and would be a community-oriented concession by the owners. Bruce reported on conversations that may lead to a proposed zoning change that would create a conservation district overlay on the NBAS and possibly other parcels. Legal maneuverings over the Woolsey bequest were discussed and a future addition to the Ross Sanctuary noted. Bruce suggested offering donors of easements on parcels over 10 acres free land management services. This will be considered at a future meeting.

COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS members: Legislators Maisano (Chair), Carsky, Ryan, Pinto, Wishnie, Noto staff: Adenekan, Neglia GUEST: Commissioner Landi WCDPW, Deputy Commissioner John DAquino DEF, Robert Abbamont, DPW, William Randolph (CEO), Larry Fasnecht, DPW Legislator Maisano called the meeting to order at 4:55 p.m. Legislator Maisano requested Commissioner Landi to give an update on the removal of snow and ice from the County roads. Commissioner Landi stated that the Snow and Ice Removal Agreement involves an act by the Board of Legislators authorizing his office to enter into inter-municipal agreements with municipalities willing to clear snow and ice from County roads within their jurisdictions. With the exception of the Bronx River Parkway and Grasslands Reservations, local municipalities have always provided for the removal of snow and ice from County roads. He stated that the new inter-municipal Agreements will be for a term of five years, from October 1, 2000 through September 30, 2005. Legislator Carsky asked if seasonal workers would be hired to remove the snow and ice from the bridges? She stated that at one time welfare-to-work clients would remove the ice and snow from the bridges over the Bronx River Parkway, however, this has not happened for several years.
