FRIENDS OF BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST " NEWSLETTER" APRIL 1977 Firstly, let me say, "welcome to the Club!" I hope you’ll find that it’s been worth your while to join and I will endeavour to give the best possible service. One way in which you can help me to do this is to offer comment and criticism. I will always be pleased to receive your ideas about what you would like to see and what you don’t like.
As you can imagine, things are still in a bit of turmoil at my end, but as soon as I can put everything into order, I hope to work on the following ideas:-
b) I hope to carry out a series of "free draws" for any items of interest that come my way.
Anyway, remember to let me have your ideas! I will also be able to continue to answer particular enquiries you may have about the band, which are not covered in the biography. If you do write, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope, as unfortunately, the membership fee won’t stretch to extra postage!
For those of you who are interested, I can also obtain a full list of the band’s equipment. Before I get down to telling you what the band are up to lately, I’d like to make it clear that the information I give is as accurate as possible when it leaves me. Plans are changed often and rapidly and because I want to let you know the news before it becomes history (!), I sometimes have to work with vague plans. Of course, I will update the information whenever possible.

About The Cast LESLEY-ANNE DOWN Lesley-Anne Down (Dr. Susan Chandler) plays a stunning psychologist who uses her call-in radio show to explore the disappearances of lonesome women who are later found victims of a seductive killer. By the age of ten, Lesley-Anne Down began to crave a more challenging environment outside of her London, England classroom, and expressed the desire to enter the working world. Her well-meaning father sat her down with the classified ads to prove that there wasn't any work fit for a child of her age, but was surprised to find an ad that read, "Wanted: Child Models." And so began the illustrious entertainment career of Lesley-Anne Down. By age 12, the curtain had closed on the final act of Down's formal education and then, she says, is when her real education began. She completed three years of drama school at age 16 and traveled to the United States in search of work at the age of 18. For the next eight years, she shuttled back and forth between America and Britain while she began to accumulate an impressive list of acting credits. Down's versatility as an actress has earned her accolades for performances in such classic feature films as "Brannigan" with John Wayne and Richard Attenborough, "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" with Peter Sellers, "A Little Night Music" with Elizabeth Taylor, "The Great Train Robbery" with Sean Connery and Donald Sutherland, "Rough Cut" with Burt Reynolds and David Niven, "Hanover Street" with Harrison Ford, and John McTiernan's "Nomads" with Pierce Brosnan. She recently completed filming on her own screenplay, "Saving Grace," which was directed by her husband, Don FauntLeRoy, and is due for release in 1997.

A notable prisoner
Dawn at lastthe sudden brilliant dawning of an eastern day.
It has been a weary night, a night of restless pacing to and fro; a night of anxious listening to the tramping of the Roman guard outside; a night during which the horror of anticipated agony has grown moment by moment, and become at last a dull frenzy of hopeless terror. Dawn at last! But daylight brings no comfort to Barabbas in his prison cell. He must die, to-day. This sun, now rising so softly from behind the Mount of Olives, shall, at noon, beat down remorselessly on Golgotha, where he by then shall hang in agony, betwixt earth and heaven, as if by both rejected. No help; no hope; none to take pity; no, not one. Oh that the cold, clear Pascal moon, that he cursed it for its pure brightness as it flooded his cell last night, might have shone on forever! But the long night is over. It is dawnat last; and the day now dawning is his day of death. There had been an unusual stir outside during the night. A hurrying crowd went by, with lanterns and flaring torches. He could hear the clashing of swords and staves, and the suppressed excitement of an expected capture, as they passed hurriedly out of the City.

Anderson Barclay And Sarah Prather Barclay By Teddy L. Barclay Pope, Ed. D. August 1, 1999 Draft Copy Foreword: This paper was researched and written because of the interest of Barclay family members and of other families connected to the Barclay family wanting more information about Anderson Barclay. The specific questions had to do with who were his descendants, as distinguished from the descendants of his brothers, when did he come to Texas, and what was his role in the Texas War for Independence. Readers should remember that the men who lived at that time considered themselves to be doing what needed to be done; for themselves, their families and their posterity. They did not set out to be heroes, although that is how it turned out. We owe a debt of gratitude to Anderson Barclay and others of his era for their gift of the freedom of Texas. Background Anderson Edward Barclay, along with his wife Sarah Prather Barclay, was the first of the Barclay family, (Anderson's father, Walter Barclay, and his mother, Elizabeth McQueen, and their sons and daughters) to settle in the Menard District that became Tyler County and other counties. He and Sarah made their first home at St. Augustine. Their second home was in North Tyler County in the area of Peach Tree, Mount Hope, and Chester. Anderson Barclay was born in Franklin County, Tennessee, in 1806. (d.1870 after) He came to Texas from Tennessee when he was a young man. His wife Sarah Prather (m. 1829) came, and the relatives of his mother, Elizabeth McQueen Barclay.

Chest of Hope Chapter One Thorran Odhinsunar appeared at the north edge of a sleepy Louisiana town. The sign post up ahead, through several well-placed bullet holes, read New Hope. With a sad smile, he lifted his old leather bound suitcase with one hand and a large wooden chest with his other. Resting the wooden chest upon one massive shoulder, he started walking toward the town. The heat of the day bore no obstruction to his seven-foot, six-inch body. The sun brightened his red hair and beard, which made it appear that his head was ablaze. His stride was crisp as he covered the distance to the Barclay Bank, located in the middle of town.
As with the sign, the town had seen better days. Most of the store fronts were empty and For Sale notices were visible here and there. He observed the glossy white new BMW, astride the equivalent red GMC 4x4 parked at the bank. Well, at least some things never change, he thought to himself.
Contemplating the position of the sun, he calculated, nine, maybe ten a.m. He was never any good at telling this kind of time. To him, it just didn't matter. Sunup-work, sundown-rest; at least that is how it should be.
At the bank Robert Holmes entered the lobby. He noticed the usual glass of sweetened iced tea, placed on his desk next to the name plate that registered President. Robert thought, What a great way to start another day of banking.

Wendover Capital’s advisors will employ the concepts of Modern Portfolio Theory, which focuses on attaining the highest expected return in conjunction with a given level of risk. This is achieved by selecting the appropriate asset class balance, predominantly using institutional asset class (index) funds that have no management risk. This academically accredited management approach has proven effective in avoiding the extreme market swings that can stifle real dollar growth. A simple example illustrating the importance of this: Year 1

    Portfolio B:
Based on William Sharpe’s 1990 Nobel Prize winning work, this demonstrates the critical difference between arithmetic and geometric returns; what amounts to a math trick. These two portfolios both have a 10% average annual return, yet there is a meaningful difference in real dollar account values, which would be dramatically greater with longer time periods and/or higher market volatility.

    Jesus Cares!
    Glen Koop
IF ANY PERSON had reason to be upset, it would be Jesus. Jesus had every reason to be bitter and angry with his brothers and fellow countrymen. He could curse religious leaders and Roman rulers for rejecting him, finding him guilty, then nailing him to the cross. Jesus might look at today’s world and say as God did to Moses, "I have seen these people...they are a stiff-necked people. Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them" (Gen. 32:9). The affair leading to the crucifixion was a mockery of justice: treachery by a follower and collusion by Caiaphas, Pilate, Herod, and their forces. All of them, even the centurion in charge of the crucifixion, knew the man was innocent. It was the dirtiest bit of injustice carried out in history. Yet people of that day and Christendom thereafter marvel at what God in Jesus Christ did for all humanity. It was amazing how Jesus took the false accusations, abuse, spit, curses, beatings and mockery at the hands of the religious leaders, Pilate and soldiers. It was divine! These facts bring one conclusion: Jesus cares!

Updated by the P.O.W. NETWORK 1998. REMARKS: NO PARA - NO RAD CNTCT - SAR NEGA SYNOPSIS: On the night of March 29, 1972, an AC130A Hercules "Spectre" gunship departed Ubon Airfield, Thailand on a night reconnaissance mission over supply routes used by North Vietnamese forces in Laos. The crew of the aircraft consisted of pilots Maj. Irving B. Ramsower II and 1Lt. Charles J. Wanzel III, and crew members Maj. Henry P. Brauner, Maj. Howard D. Stephenson, Capt. Curtis D. Miller, Capt. Barclay B. Young, Capt. Richard Castillo, Capt. Richard C. Halpin, SSgt. Merlyn L. Paulson, SSgt. Edwin J. Pearce, SSgt. Edward D. Smith Jr., SSgt. James K. Caniford; and Airmen First Class William A. Todd and Robert E. Simmons. As the aircraft was in the jungle foothills 56 miles east of Savannakhet in southern Laos, it was shot down by a Russian Surface to Air Missile (SAM). U.S. government sources stated in February 1986 that a fighter escort plane reported that the aircraft crashed in a fireball, no parachutes were seen, nor was radio contact made with the AC130 or any of its crew. However, family members were later told that a support plane traveling with the AC130 heard radio signals indicating that there were survivors. The support aircraft plane left the area to refuel. When it returned, there were no signs of life. Because of enemy concentration, rescue teams could not get into the area. A clandestine Pathet Lao news agency release stated: "The U.S. imperialists on the night of March 30 sent aircraft to attack the liberated zone in Savannakhet Province, Southern Laos. An L.P.L.A. antiaircraft unit shot down on the sopt a U.S. AC-130 in addition to another American AC-130 which had been shattered over the same province early morning on March 29. Many U.S. crewmen aboard these planes were killed." The Air Force reviewed this release and stated that no AC-130 had been shot down on March 30; however, one had been lost at that location on March 31, but the crew had all been rescued. The report, although distorted, was believed to relate to the Young aircraft. Several years later, the inscribed wedding band of Curtis Miller was recovered by a reporter and returned to Miller's family. The existence of the ring suggests to Miller's mother that the plane did not burn, and gives her hope that he survived. A May 1985 article appearing in a Thai newspaper stated that the bodies of Simmons and Wanzel were among 5 bodies brought to the base camp of Lao Liberation forces. The same article reported a group of 21 Americans still alive, held prisoner at a camp in Khammouane Province, Laos. The U.S. and Laos excavated this aircraft's crash site in February 1986. The teams recovered a limited number of human bone fragments, personal effects and large pieces of plane wreckage. It was later announced by the U.S. Government that the remains of Castillo, Halpin, Ramsower, Simmons, Todd, Paulson, Pearce, Wanzel and Smith had been positively identified. In a previous excavation at Pakse, Laos in 1985, remains recovered were positively identified as the 13 crew members, although independent examiners later proved that only 2 of those identifications were scientifically possible. The U.S. Government has acknowledged the errors made in identification on two of the men, but these two individuals are still considered "accounted for". Because of the identification problems of the first excavation, the families of the Savannakhet AC130 have carefully considered the information given them about their loved ones. The families of Robert Simmons and Edwin Pearce have actively resisted the U.S. Government's identification, which is in both cases based on a single tooth. These families do not know if their men are alive or dead, but will insist that the books are kept open until proof dictates that there is no longer any hope for their survival. Nearly 600 Americans were lost in Laos during the Vietnam war, and many were known to have survived their loss incident. However, the U.S. did not negotiate with Laos for these men, and consequently, not one American held in Laos has ever been released. Barclay B. Young was promoted to the rank of Major during the period he was maintained Missing in Action.
