Malcolm X Time Line Malcolm X was born as Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Louise and Earl Little.Louise Little was a mulatto born in Grenada in the British West Indies and Earl Little, a six-foot, very dark skinned man from Reynolds, Georgia, was a Baptist minister and organiser for Marcus Garvey, who wanted that all Afro-Americans go back to the land of their ancestors, Africa. Louise, his second wife, bore six children: Wilfred, Hilda, Philbert, Malcolm, Yvonne, and Reginald. Earl Little also had three children by a first wife: Ella, Earl, and Mary. Because of the father's advocacy for Garvey's movement, the whole family was terrorised by the Ku Klux Klan. To avoid any more harassment by these white racists, Little had to migrate with his family to Lansing, Michigan. It did not help. The white racists of Lansing killed Malcolm's father and laid him on a railway track, claiming he committed suicide. Alone and without money, Louise Little got more and more desperate, before the white authorities sent her to a mental hospital. Malcolm attended school until eighth grade living with different families. When his teacher stopped him from trying to become a lawyer, he dropped out of school and went to his older half sister, Ella, who lived in Boston. There, he took a job as a shoeshine boy at the Roseland Ballroom. A career as a hustler seemed a more tempting option, and he was soon peddling narcotics. He met a white girl called Laura who quickly became his girlfriend. Having a white girl and being a very good dancer, he soon was a notorious young man with crazy clothes and a haircut made to resemble the hair of white people, which he was very ashamed of later. But Roxbury proved to be too small for him, and in 1942 he took a job as a railroad dining-car porter, working out of Roxbury and New York. Settling in Harlem, New York, he became more and more involved in criminal activities. He robbed, worked as a pimp, and sold narcotics.

Malcolm Little, the son of an African American Baptist preacher, Earl Little, was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on 19th May, 1925. Malcolm's mother, Louise Little, was born in the West Indies. Her mother was black but her father was a white man.
Earl Little was a member of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) and a supporter of Marcus Garvey . This got him into trouble with the Ku Klux Klan and after the family were threatened they moved to Lansing, Michigan. Little continued to make speeches in favour of UNIA and in 1929 the family house was burned down by members of the Black Legion.
In 1931 Little was found dead by a streetcar railway track. Although no one was convicted of the crime it was generally believed that Little had been murdered by the Black Legionnaires. Malcolm's mother never recovered from her husband's death and in 1937 was sent to the State Mental Hospital at Kalamazoo, where she stayed for the next twenty-six years.

THE NEW ADVENTURES OF LITTLE PRINCE by Dance Dimension Project Date: 1 Dec 2000 Time: home Venue: Drama Centre Rating: what's on By: Malcolm Tay DEAR SAINT-EX, It's been 57 years since you wrote 'The Little Prince', and you wouldn't believe how popular it has become. Your seemingly simple story about a little prince and his travels has been translated into over 90 different languages and made into a cartoon series, a movie and a play. Now, a contemporary dance group in Singapore (Dance Dimension Project, or DDP for short) has adapted your story and turned it into a dance called THE NEW ADVENTURES OF LITTLE PRINCE. And what a dance it was! Lasting about 90 minutes, it was split into 18 little segments, performed by 5 adults and 10 children. To be honest, I was a little cautious when I heard that so many "young dancers" were going to be on stage, especially when they're between the ages of 4 and 7. They make mistakes without knowing it, and lack the discipline and poise that adult dancers have learned to develop over the years. Yet, they made up for all their shortcomings with the frank and spontaneous energy that they unconsciously exude, contrasting boldly against the composure and poise of the adults. It helped that many in the audience thought they were really cute too; this dance wouldn't have been complete without them.

SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN TO COME TO ME
by Malcolm Smith
Taken from a taped interview with Joyce Hagelthorn on WPON AM, (Pontiac, MI) on July 17, 2000. Sometimes not too often, but occasionally I get profound statements coming from people when they sit in front of me. My favorites are always from the kids. In New York a few weeks ago, a lady brought her son to me. He was seven years old. No major health problem, just hyperactive like most kids. He sat on the stool, looking up at me. I'm looking down at him, thinking how do I explain what I do to a seven year old child. As I'm thinking this, he says, "So what do you do?" Is this kid psychic, or what!
"I got magic hands," I say. "I put my hands on people and that makes them big and strong."
"That's great," he replies. "What's on the table there?"
"Relaxation tapes."
"Do you have any classical music?"
"You like classical music?"
"I play the violin."
His mum sat on a chair about two feet away. We found him a nice relaxation tape, and I put my hands on his head. In a matter of two or three minutes, his head fell to his chest as he went into the relaxation mode. Without looking up he says to his mum, "You know, I do believe the power of God is flowing through me." The mum puts her hand to her mouth and looks at me like stunned. "Say that again," she says. And word for word, he says, "I do believe the power of God is flowing through me."

Little things mean a lot
How mighty oaks of history can grow from tiny acorns
By PAT ST. GERMAIN Winnipeg Sun THE TIPPING POINT: HOW LITTLE THINGS CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE Malcolm Gladwell (Little, Brown) Two men leave Boston on the same night with the same mission: to warn their fellow revolutionaries the British are coming. One, William Dawes, is relegated to history's scrap heap while the other, Paul Revere, becomes an American hero for the ages. A pair of businessmen are on the brink of pulling an old shoe line out of production when suddenly Hush Puppies become the hottest new trend in footwear fashion, and sales skyrocket nationwide. And a seemingly trivial new policy of cleaning up graffiti and busting subway fare-jumpers sends New York City's major-crime rate into a nosedive. What gives?

By WAYNE JANES Toronto Sun THE TIPPING POINT: HOW LITTLE THINGS CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE Malcolm Gladwell (Little, Brown) Science and culture writer Malcolm Gladwell is prepared to put his money where his mouth is. If he has his way, what happens with his new book, The Tipping Point, will help to prove the theories in it. In his book, subtitled How Little Things Can Make A Big Difference, Gladwell says that an inconsequential event can trigger sudden, major shifts in cultural behaviour. Like when an unknown restaurant 'tips' suddenly into the hottest spot in town.

http://www.estadium.ya.com/daviscup/Malcolm_Whitman.htm
Malcolm Whitman Part of the Harvard Three who led the original Davis Cup team in 1900 to glory defeating a British Isles side 3-0. Malcolm Whitman beat Arthur Gore 6-1, 6-3, 6-2, while classmate and donor of the Cup Dwight Davis clinched his singles teaming up with Holcombe Ward in the doubles at Longwood Cricket Club, Boston. Whitman's father wanted him to concentrate on his law course and put away his racket after two quarterfinal losses in the U.S. Championships of 1896 and 1897. Whitman persevered though and came through to win three straight Championships the following year and in 1899-1900. He beat Bill Larned for his third crown 6-4, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2. He didn't defend his title in 1901, but returned: "to represent my country" in 1902, in the all-comers final, only to be beaten by a British invader Reggie Doherty 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. The New Yorker had a weird bouncing reverse twist serve - never seen these days - and was a sharp volleyer, ranking in the U.S. Top Ten for six years, being crowned at number one in 1898-1900 and number two in 1902. In the 1902 Davis Cup Challenge Round against the British Isles he beat Joshua Pim 6-1, 6-1, 1-6, 6-0 and gained revenge over Reggie Doherty beating him 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 to help the Americans keep the Cup 3-2.

Australia LETTER IN DEFENCE OF THE LITTLE PEBBLE
IN RESPONSE TO THE LETTER "TIME TO LEAVE" DATED 21 FEBRUARY 2002
AND DELIVERED ON 22 MARCH 2002
Dear Glenn and all who signed the "Time to leave" document, I never imagined that I would ever write such a letter as this to you, Glenn. I could well imagine writing to the others in your Apostolate because the attitude of denial has been brewing for a few years. Most of the readers would not know the underlying facts which are the true causes for the loss of faith in those members of the Community of the Holy Family and other Fourth Branch members of the Order of Saint Charbel. For the time being the Little Pebble has chosen not to expose these causes and effects from which so many doubts were freely assented to and fostered leading to a denial of the truth in those members who signed the document. Regarding the Holy Family Community I have also known most of those concerned for the last 14 years and I have travelled down the same road with you in your journey and pilgrimage of faith. I have witnessed many of your "highs" and "lows" over these years. I have helped many of you to grow in the understanding of private revelation and prophecy in particular in the Teachings of the Catholic Church. I have witnessed your joys and comprehension of God’s Plan for the Little Pebble and your growth in understanding the charism given to him. In short I have witnessed your certitude in the truth of your own consciences over these years.
