After Norm left SNL, I decided the continue the site and expand the site. In July 1998, I stopped updating the site, mostly becuase of the difficulty of updating pages from AOL on 4.0. But the Ultimate Norm Page made it's return one year later in July 1999. I brought back the page, on Angelfire this time, because I was still interested in Norm and was excited because of all the projects he's currently involved in. A Tribute To Norm Macdonald Norm Macdonald is a hysterically funny comedian whose talents often go unrecognized and unappreciated. From his unjust firing from SNL's Weekend Update to his first movie being a total bomb at the box office, Norm is the classic underdog. Fortunately, everyone loves the underdog. Well, almost everyone.... Who is Norm Macdonald? Norm started out his comedy career as a stand-up comic in Canada. He went on to write for Dennis Miller and Roseanne, but finally got his big break in 1993 when he joined Saturday Night Live. After becoming a frequent correspondant to Kevin Nealon on the Weekend Update segment, Norm landed behind the Update desk himself at the beginning of the show's 1994 season. Unfortunately, one person who was not particularly fond of Norm was Don Ohlmeyer, president of NBC West. Rumor has it that Ohlmeyer was good friends with O.J. Simpson, the subject of Norm's constant mockery on Update. "In Los Angeles this week, the defense suffered a setback in the second O.J. trial when Simpson was ordered to turn over a secret videotape which lawyers say contains proof of his guilt. What's on the tape? The first O.J. trial." December 13, 1997 was Norm's final Weekend Update. Come January, he was replaced by Colin Quinn. Thanks to Ohlmeyer, Norm would now appear only in skits and not on Update. "That's like telling Roger Clemens you no longer want him to pitch for your team, but you want to keep him around as a pinch hitter," said TV Guide in their "Jeer" of Norm's sacking. Fans demanded NBC either reinstate Norm as Update anchorman, or let him out of his SNL contract altogether. On March 14 1998, Norm made his last SNL appearance.

Both have been fired.....Norm from Weekend Update and Dennis from his Tribune show. Both have hosted the Espy Awards....Norm once, Dennis twice. Both do stand-up and have been told by TPTB that they're not funny..Norm by Ohlmeyer, Dennis from Tribune. HBO specials...Dennis has done them, Norm is planning one, from the info, I have. Both have done movies although Dennis has done more....Norm has been in "Billy Madison" and "The People vs. Larry Flint", and the soon to be released "Dirty Work". Both have dark hair and a son around age six. Both were one of the best anchors SNL ever had and neither thinks they're any good in skits. Both wrote for SNL and "The Dennis Miller Show", credited or otherwise.
