BIBLIOGRAFIA Rem. reg. seconda, 1886, pp. 61-67. A.f. 556: decreto 17 nov. 1638.

Liner notes by Alexander Schmitz Produced by Vic Juris and John Etheridge Executive producer: Gertraud Jankejová Zugegeben, Gitarrenduos gibt es im Jazz seit Eddie Langs und Lonnie Johnsons' Uranfängen in Fülle.

LINER NOTES for SOLO ARTIST CD Terry Silverlight is a monster talent. He's a powerhouse virtuoso on the
drums, and an arranger, composer, and producer on a par with the great
innovators of today's music, and this release is long overdue proof of
these statements. "Where has this guy been?," you might ask - "why don't I
already know him better?" Good question - and the answer lies in the
character of this guy behind the drums.
It's not often that one encounters unselfishness in the music business -
performers tend to be a relatively ego-driven bunch, driven to achieve,
competitive in a ruthless marketplace, looking for a break, trying to get
their stuff over. Terry is the exception to this rule. He believes in the
value of service to others, and that by trying to bring positive energy into a given situation he's helping to make the world a better place. I've never heard him put anybody down, or complain about the music, or musicians around him, or working conditions, or any of those everyday things that people in general tend to focus on and grouse about. Terry's truly an

Al Martino The coolest of the dramatic Italian balladeers to emerge in the fifties, Martino most closely identified with his background. Thus, it was fitting that he was chosen for the role of Johnny Fontane, the popular Italian singer (reputedly based on Frank Sinatra), in Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘The Godfather’. The son of Italian immigrants, Martino was a boyhood friend of Mario Lanza who encouraged him to become a singer. After appearing in local nightclubs, he recorded ‘Here in My Heart’ for the small BBS label in 1952. The record topped both the American and British charts and won Martino a contract with Capitol. His old fashioned style denied him further significant record success in America throughout the fifties, though he continued to chart in Britain with the songs ‘Now’, ‘Wanted’ and ‘The Man from Laramie'.
His career was revived by a version of Leon Payne’s 1949 country hit, ‘I Love You Because’ and ‘I Love You More and More Every Day’. In 1965, he had his biggest hit, ‘Spanish Eyes’, when Eddie Snyder wrote an English lyric to a tune written and recorded by Bert Kaempfert as ‘Moon Over Naples’. A star attraction of the cabaret circuit after his role in ‘The Godfather’, he further consolidated his once more fashionable Italian image with ‘To the Door of the Sun (Alla Porte del Sol)’ and a remake of the song ‘Volare’.

90. Vic Damone

http://www.lentriola.com/damone.htm
Vic Damone A Frank Sinatra copyist in the forties, Damone later extended his range to become one of the few remaining practitioners of the art of romantic ballad singing. After winning a place on Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts, in 1947, he started singing regularly on the radio and at nightclubs, and signed with Mercury Records. ‘I Have But One Heart’ gave him a minor hit but his first big success was ‘Again’ from the film Road House (1948). Another million-seller was ‘You’re Breaking My Heart’, based on the turn-of-the-century ballad by Leoncavallo. Signed to a film contract (by MGM), like many singers of the time, Damone had an undistinguished screen career beginning with ‘Rich Young and Pretty’ and ending with ‘Spree’. By the early fifties Damone was a moderately successful recording star. His hits included a revival of ‘Why Was I Born?’, film songs such as ‘Vagabond Shoes’ and ‘Just Say I Love Her’, and even versions of ‘Tzena, Tzena, Tzena’ (originally a hit for Mitch Miller, the man who had signed Damone to Mercury) and ‘Truly, Truly Fair’, the best selling version of which was by Guy Mitchell) produced by Miller on Columbia, for whom he now worked.
These last two records saw Damone attempt to sing in a more muscular fashion, but the record that established his star status marked a return to traditional balladry. ‘On the Street Where You Live’ was from Lerner’s and Loewe’s Broadway show ‘My Fair Lady’, which opened to great success in 1956. Subsequent records for Columbia, which included the theme songs to ‘War and Peace’, ‘An Affair to Remember’, one of the last songs written by Harry Warren, and ‘Gigi’, were less successful, as were his sixties recordings for Capitol.

Home Made Apple Pie or Pie a la Martino
Chef: Steve Martin You need: 1.5 cups self raising
125 g of butter
1/2 cup of raw sugar
I Egg
Pinch of salt. 1 tin of pie apples [or enough apples to fill the size of your pie dish!] Method: Combine ingredients in a Bowl. [NB: Rub the butter in don’t melt it!] Once ready distribute about 2/3rds in a greased pie dish, and then add the apples. At this point you can add a pinch of cinnamon or other spices if you wish. Perhaps some Rhubarb, whatever you like ! Then pat out the remainder of the pasty across the top of the apples, sprinkle lightly with more raw sugar and "Robert is your fathers brother!" Slow oven for about an hour checking regularly until the top browns [ 175deg for 60 mins approx.] Spring form tin is handy as the bottom can be a bit soggy at times depending on the wetness of the apples. Album Review top Dean Martin 's final sessions for Capitol Records before his switch to Frank Sinatra 's Reprise label produced this curious LP, which sought to take advantage of the long-subsided craze for cha-cha music. It was Martin 's second album under the baton of Nelson Riddle , who must also have been itching to join Reprise (as he did by 1963). In any case, both artists turned in competent but uninspired performances. Martin could sing as easily over charts filled with peppy horns and Latin percussion as he could over anything else, but the music did not especially move him, and the result was an odd coda to the Capitol years. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide Album Credits top Dean Martin Main Performer Related Albums top Tony Bennett - I Left My Heart in San Francisco Tony Bennett - Mr. Broadway
