Beginning in 1981, Penghlis has portrayed multi-faceted villain Tony DiMera, as well as his twin brother Andre, on and off for the past 20 years. Penghlis left the show in 1986 and returned for a second stint of evildoing from 1993 until 1996, when the character of Tony was killed off. Quick thinking on Penghlis' part enabled the current “Days of our Lives” writing team to bring Tony back from the dead. The event, billed as Deidre Hall: 90210, will mark the first time the popular trio have come together for an exclusive visit with fans. Ms. Hall, known to millions as the beautiful and compassionate Dr. Marlena Evans on NBC's Days of our Lives, originated the concept with her first fan "Lunchbreak" almost two decades ago. "It all began with a letter from a fan who was losing her eyesight. Her only request before she went completely blind was to meet Marlena in person. How could anyone say no to that?," Hall recalls fondly. "We've held an event almost every year since then", but this one she says will be extra special. "Drake and Thaao are both so handsome and so charming- what more could a girl want?" Drake Hogestyn, who plays Hall's onscreen husband, the heroic John Black, has been romancing Days viewers for over 16 years. This year there are only 10 categories, but the categories are better, IMO, instead of hokey categories like "favorite teen" or "favorite new couple". Here's what I voted for in each category. You should vote the same, too. :) OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR Grant Aleksander (Phillip, GL) Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) Hunt Block (Craig, ATWT) Roger Howarth (Todd, OLTL) Thorsten Kaye (Ian, PC) Grant Aleksander is terribly underrated. Penghlis' two previous stints ended with his characters' demise or so it seemed. The last time DAYS fans saw Penghlis was in 1995 when Tony DiMera, dying of a rare disease, killed himself with a self-inflicted gunshot. His other alter-ego, Andre, was seen drowning in quicksand in 1984. Somehow, one of Penghlis' alteregos cheated death. According to online chatter, the show has managed to twist history to explain how Tony survived his gunshot wound he wasn't really shot. Penghlis reveals that during his final scenes, Tony was seen smoking a cigarette something that character never did.
