Carter's legal thriller The Emperor of Ocean Park The Culture of Disbelief In Jolie Blon's Bounce In May of 1915 one of the jewels of the Cunard fleet of ocean liners was making its way across the Atlantic from New York to Liverpool, when it was torpedoed by a German submarine. The ship sank in eighteen minutes, with a total of 1,200 casualties, and one hundred twenty-four Americans among the dead. Lusitania: An Epic Tragedy by Oxford-trained historian Diana Preston is a meticulous recreation of the liner and the days leading up to the attack, as well as an investigation of the culpability and response of the British, American and German governments to the incident. The attack is popularly thought to have brought about America's entrance into WWI, and though U.S.-German relations were certainly strained afterwards, American troops stayed clear of the conflict for two more years. All sides saw the public relations potential of the tragedy, and many official documents were altered or censored, making it difficult to sift the truth from propaganda. One of the most interesting and humanizing aspects of the book is Preston's attention to the happenings on the final day of the ship, and to the personalities and decisions of the captains of the Lusitania and the German sub.

This is where he remained until he retired in 1952 and moved to Orange City, Florida. Kathyrn graduated from Dubois High School in 1916. They were married in Bluefield, WV on 5-20-1920. Seaton and Katy had 3 children: Seaton Tinsley Preston, Jr. b.8-29-1921 d.9-24-1994 m. on 7-26-1945 Aline Marie Debbaut b.4-27-1923 in Antwerp, Belgium.
