ANDERSON, THOMAS SCOTT (1830?-1868). T. Scott Anderson, attorney and Texas secretary of state, was born in Tennessee between 1827 and 1830 and moved to Texas in 1852. He began a law career in Austin, where he advertised his services in the local newspaper. In 1852 he served on the Provisional Railroad Association of Travis County. He was at one time a law partner of Horace Cone qv in Houston. Anderson served as secretary of state under Governor Hardin R. Runnels, qv beginning on December 22, 1857. In the gubernatorial election of 1859 Runnels lost to Sam Houston, qv and Anderson resigned his position on December 27 of that year. While Anderson was secretary of state, he married Mary McNeill Harper, on January 30, 1858. Shortly after their marriage the couple moved to Dallas, where they lived until 1860, when they moved to Columbus. Anderson served as a Colorado County delegate to the Secession Convention qv in Austin in 1861. On August 21 of that year Captain Anderson, now in the Texas State Militia, was mustered into the Confederate Army in Colorado County, with a rank of colonel. Anderson's Second Texas Regiment, a division of the Third Texas Cavalry, saw action in the Arkansas valley as well as in Tennessee, before Anderson assumed command of the Confederate Military Prison, Camp Ford, near Tyler. Once the war ended he moved back to Colorado County, to Eagle Lake, a town easily accessible to Galveston by train. He made frequent trips to the seaside city, at that time a thriving cultural and business center. Anderson died on September 25, 1868, at his home in Eagle Lake and was buried near the graves of Confederate soldiers who had died while encamped there.

MILLER, THOMAS SCOTT (1850-1912). Thomas Scott Miller, attorney, was born in Jackson, Louisiana, on May 20, 1850, the son of John C. Miller. In 1869 he graduated from Jackson Centenary College, of which his father was president. Miller attended Harvard College from 1869 to 1873 and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1875. He moved to Dallas in 1876 and practiced with Alfred H. Bennett and Seth Shepard. qv On September 4, 1893, he was elected professor of law at the University of Texas and in May 1894 was named chairman of the faculty and dean of the law department. After a year he resigned and returned to Dallas to become general counsel for the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad. He resigned because of ill health and returned to private practice. FIRST FLIGHTS IN DIRIGIBLE BALLOONS
"The public disbelief in flight, however, extended only to heavier-than-air craft. Dirigible balloons, filled with hydrogen gas and fitted with engine, propeller, elevator, and rudder, were known to have operated successfully. Captain Thomas Scott Baldwin in the United States, Alberto Santos-Dumont in France , Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin in Germany, were building and flying airships without great fanfare or furor.
    CAPTAIN BALDWIN MEETS GLENN CURTISS
Captain Thomas S. Baldwin, California's pioneer dirigible balloonist, brought Curtiss into the flying fold by ordering one of the lightweight Curtiss motorcycle motors for his nonrigid, gas-inflated, cigar-shaped airship. Baldwin built more than a dozen dirigibles, all equipped with Curtiss motors, and in the summer of 1908 delivered a specially constructed military model to the Aeronautical Division of the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Washington. With Baldwin operating the controls from the rear of the skeleton framework and Curtiss, balanced up forward, looking after the motor, the craft easily met government specifications in a two-hour flight over the Virginia countryside.
The New York World in 1909, announced a prize of $10,000 for the first flight between New York and Albany. Two attempts by dirigible, one by Thomas Baldwin and one by George T. Tomlinson, had ended in failure.

    http://pages.prodigy.net/korbell/_wsn/page10.html
Thomas Scott Daly: author's diary NEWS FLASH! I am less than ant shit! To presume that I am an "author" is pure hog-wash of the most self-absorbed and hysterically fantastic and dilusional nature.
Just the same; once in awhile I write something that I find rather amusing. I am aware that my taste are a bit suspect, but occassionaly my opinions (in regards to my "work") are fortified by corroborating feedback from my confounding wealth of dubious sources. Hence, I offer my latest submission to be ridiculed and grossly miss-understood by the masses of plebian-minded dogmatic fools that consider themselves to be the literati.
The Night I Read NOTES OF A DIRTY OLD MAN, by Charles Bukowski
    by Thomas Scott Daly.
The night was putrid with the smell of my hair after it went into the flickering flame of the half-burnt candle. I was insane with the crazed antics of the words dancing before my eyes, staggering across the pages, and yet deep in the back of my mind I was intoxicated with a recognition of me as he, Chinowski, the fool, the genius, the drunken ass of a thousand bad dreams and beyond, writing as if from the bottom of a caldron of Dago Red with a bourbon float and still making absolute, undeniable sense. My burning hair lit the room. AHH! Now I can read, I thought, yet the stench became unbearable. I had a drink off my pint, poured some on my hair; the room was dark againÂ…and so quiet, but it was reeking with wisdom few ever know. I sat..I smoldered, I took another hit.

Deep in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains where the
mist plays lazily in the valley and the wind whispers quietly through the pine tree boughs, a craft, as old as humankind itself, is born.
The craft, representatative of time well spent, refined ideas, quality and beauty, brings meaning into the life of the artisan and the patron.
For it is the beauty that surrounds us that nourishes our spirit and enlivens our heart. These are the sensibilities that
Thomas Scott forges into each piece that he crafts.
Within each piece of furniture that Thomas produces there tells a story of self-discipline, self-respect, and
the pursuit of beauty and excellence. To recognize these in a handcrafted object is to identify who we desire to be.
Many eons ago, when humankind first cut saplings and
learned to harden spear tips in fire, temper bow wood and straighten arrow wood, a bond was forged. A relationship that runs so deep that many of us find it hard to express in words the reverence we feel
when we see a masterfully crafted piece of furniture. We at Blue Ridge Woodworkers wish to inspire you with the
