Die Feen ; this remained unheard, but his next, Das Liebesverbot Rienzi , and did much conducting, especially of Beethoven In 1839 they slipped away from creditors in Riga, by ship to London and then to Paris, where he was befriended by Meyerbeer and did hack-work for publishers and theatres. He also worked on the text and music of an opera on the 'Flying Dutchman' legend; but in 1842 Rienzi , a large-scale opera with a political theme set in imperial Rome, was accepted for Dresden and Wagner went there for its highly successful premiere. Its theme reflects something of Wagner's own politics (he was involved in the semi-revolutionary, intellectual 'Young Germany' movement).

Richard Wagner The Early Years Wagner was born in Leipzig on 22 May 1813. "Wagner's official father was the police actuary Carl Friedrich Wagner, but the boy's adoptive father, the actor-painter Ludwig Geyer, who took responsibilty for the child on Carl Friedrich's death in November 1813, may possibily have been the real father" (Sadie 1992, IV:1054) . The terror of war and invasion by foreign troops accompanied Wagner's first year, until "at last on 16 August, the child's christening, delayed by events of the war, was able to take place in the Thomaskirche, where he received the names Wilhelm Richard" (Westernhagen 1981, 6) He was an intelligent child who had an early interest in the theatre. Thanks to his stepfather Geyer, Wagner got to know Carl Maria von Weber. Wagner saw von Weber conduct Der Freischutz , which had a lasting impression on him. "What attracted him to the theatre was, by Wagner's own account, not so much the search for entertainment as the pleasurable excitement of a purely imaginary world" (Westernhagen 1981, 19)

LESELUST Richard Wagner - Miss Bukarest Roman, Aufbau Verlag, 190 Seiten, ISBN: 3351029268 Erschienen August 2001 Der Autor: Richard Wagner , geboren 1952 im rumänischen Banat, studierte Germanistik und Rumänistik in Temeswar und arbeitete als Deutschlehrer und Journalist. Er veröffentlichte Lyrik und Prosa in deutscher Sprache und war Mitglied der "Aktionsgruppe Banat". Nach Arbeits- und Publikationsverbot verließ er Rumänien im Jahr 1987. Seitdem lebt er als freier Schriftsteller in Berlin. Er erhielt zahlreiche Preise und Stipendien, unter anderem den 2000 erstmals verliehenen "Neuen deutschen Literaturpreis". Weitere Titel: Ausreiseantrag / Begrüßungsgeld / Die Muren von Wien / Mythendämmerung / In der Hand der Frauen / Lisas geheimes Buch / Im Grunde sind wir alle Sieger Als Wasserleiche liegt sie nun vor ihm - Erika. Seine Landsfrau, wie Schelski mit einem Seitenblick auf Dino Schullerus sagt. Ob er sie kenne? Ob Schelski glaube, alle Rumänen würden sich automatisch kennen? Außerdem, aber das erwähnt Schullerus nicht, ist die tote Frau da vor ihnen keine Rumänin sondern genaugenommen eine Banater Schwäbin. Aber damit hätte er schon wieder verraten, dass er sie kennt. Ja, er kennt diese Erika schon sehr lange. Sie waren eng befreundet, alle drei - Erika, Lotte und Dino. Voller Idealismus. Und als dann der Prager Frühling plötzlich die Gefahr birgt, dass die Russen auch Rumänien besetzen, beschließt Dino, der Securitate beizutreten. Mit den lautersten Absichten - sein Land vor der Okkupation zu bewahren. Das zumindest zu Beginn. Denn schon rasch wird er für ganz andere Dienste eingesetzt. Spitzel spielen. Menschen unter Druck setzen. Auf die intellektuelle Schicht hat man es ganz besonders abgesehen. Und Erika hat besonders engen Kontakt zu ihnen. Außerdem ist sie mit einem Deutschen liiert und will mit ihm in den Westen. Eine Information, die Dino eigentlich weitergeben müsste. Aber trotz der Gefahr, dass auch diese Information irgendwo abgehört worden war, meldet er nichts.
