"This is good hard-drivin' bluegrass and a collection of superbly crafted tunes. I especially enjoyed the title track, "I Dreamed of An Angel," "West Virginia Gal" and Jack's two instrumentals. The Collected Bulletins Of President Idi Amin by Alan Coren Buck House Blues
June 27, 1973 BEEN MAINTAININ' a low profile dis past month, world, on account of a lotta bricks an' stuff gittin' bunged through de windahs o' Amin Towers, an' most o' de residents been goin' aroun' on all fours to avoid gittin' de ole skull sheared off at de conk. Dat de main reason I ain't been sendin' de shimmerin' prose off to de famous Punch magazine, can't git down de Post Office fo' flyin' beer-bottles, not to mention de dead pig sittin' in de presidential Jeep. Been sellotaped to de steerin' wheel by de Uganda WVS, an' if you asks me, they gotta lot to learn about de proper channels o' political protest: if they want to put a curse on someone's bowel movements, de proper place is in a letter to de Times Anyway, what upsettin' de popperlace is de stories what fillip de newspapers about Corporal Gowon an' his ole woman gittin' de red carpet treatment in London, whippin' aroun' in de Royce-Rollses, all de white buggers cheerin' an' chuckin' de bowlers in de air, ole Gowon stuffin' his face wid cucumber sandwiches while Queen Elizabeth stirrin' his tea and de King o' Edinburgh showin' Mrs Gowon de aspidistra beds and tellin' her de one about de one-legged Chinese jockey, also de management o' de renowned Harrods turnin' on de full treatment an' de Gowon family loadin' up de back o' de truck wid gole toothpicks etcetera. All dis rubbish gittin' on de Ugandan wick, an' causin' untole hardship, especially to anyone wot got four wives crawlin' about like crabs, shriekin' every time a car backfirin' an' consequently worn out by de time they gotta hit de sack.

    Buck Rideout: "Accessibility"
    By Allison Pruitt
    Senior Staff Writer
Rideout is a senior from Greenwood who is majoring in English and political science who says that he came to Ole Miss to enjoy the small atmosphere associated with the campus.
"I really like Ole Miss for what it is. Everyday I'm impressed that you can walk across campus and see 10 people that you know," Rideout said.
Ridout is the older of two children, with a younger sister who is a sophomore at Ole Miss.
Rideout cites the reason for students to vote for him as simply being "my desire to lead."
If elected, Rideout wants to give student government a new image. The presidential hopeful said he wants to break away from unfulfilled promises, and instead work with students to influence policy that affects them the most.
According to Rideout, focusing on the issues that are most important to the students means that he would not focus on issues that he does not feel he can realistically make a change in. Instead Rideout feels that attention should be focused on things that affect students on a daily basis, such as the attendance policy in several classes. He says that teachers should not have the right to impose extreme attendance policies, such as threatening to fail students for missing only one class.
"I'm a 22-year old man you can't fail me for missing class," Rideout said. "We're students who are paying to go to school here. Whether you make an A or fail is up to each student."

'Cookie's Fortune' O'Donnell and others hail Ole Miss, Oxford
    By Mike Gill
Entertainment Columnist Its hardly a secret that many of today's brightest stars are living only 30 minutes away from Oxford in Holly Springs for the shooting of the movie "Cookie's Fortune."
The cast of "Cookie's Fortune" includes notable names like Ned Beatty, Glenn Close, Patricia Neal, Chris O'Donnell, Liv Tyler, Julianne Moore, Danny Darst and director Robert Altman.
When asked about trips to Oxford, actor Chris O'Donnell, playing the role of a police officer, told numerous stories about his love for Oxford and Ole Miss.
"I bought an Ole Miss baseball cap and I'm coming to a football game this year," said O'Donnell, whose eyes lit up when he found this Ole Miss reporter in front of him.
Also, O'Donnell was very fond of the sororities on campus. As a matter of fact, most of the conversation revolved around his new found infatuation with Ole Miss sorority girls after looking through an Ole Miss yearbook. The Kappa Delta sorority caught his eyes as he spoke in non-coherent sentences with a slightly reddish face.
In addition to Ole Mss, he spoke highly of the restaurants lining the Oxford Square.

    32. Poems
But one day soon i'll get that big ole buck And when I do I'll buy a new truck. Especiallythat one big ole buck That made me ruin my brand new truck.
    http://www.geocities.com/rosespoems/poems.html
After that first poem, things just kept going. I kept writing poems as you can see. Hope they make you laugh. I miss hearing Mom laugh.
    GUN
Now, here I am with my gun
Bow and arrow's are all done.
Still waiting to get that friggin deer
Still drinking all of my Busch Beer.
My gun is loaded and ready to fire
My butt is sore and my feet are tired.
But I'm a hunter and will get my deer
And when I do I'll drink my beer.
It's cold, it's wet, standing in this muck Still waiting for that friggin buck. I've seen some does, but they won't do My ass is froze, my lips are blue. All of a sudden, he did appear There he stood, the friggin deer. I aimed my gun at the friggin buck And shotand hit my friggin truck. And now my truck with two holes in it Is mounted on the wall bove where I sit. And as for that ole friggin deer WellNext hunting season will soon be here. The Rose
I wrote this poem as I was driving back home from my mom and dad's house in Michigan. I had been there visiting and a friend of theirs had just come in from deer hunting and was telling us of his story of seeing a deer and all. Well, he used the word "friggin" so many times in his story... I was amazed. My Mom and I laughed about it. My Mom used to call this one buck that she would see out in the field... Lop Side Lisa as he only had one antler on his head. I thought of this poem as I was driving and called my Mom to recite to her what I had thought of. She laughed so hard. I loved to make my Mom laugh. She is in heaven now, but I will never forget hearing her laugh.

Ed. note: Otto Klement was one of the first Skagit county settlers, after arriving here in the fall of 1873. He eventually chose Lyman as his home on the north bank of the river, when Skagit was still part of Whatcom county and Washington was still a territory. By Otto Klement, circa 1926-29, transcribed by Ethel Van Fleet Harris The writer in 1881 opened a trading post at Lyman. The government had just extended the survey over the region. A few settlers had established themselves at eligible points along the river. A score or more of hunters, timber cruisers and adventurers had come to ferret out the mysteries of the trackless wilderness, and a few logging camps had commenced to move into the district. Jesse Kennedy, whose day job is with the National Park Service in Marblemount, shared this modern-day photo that illustrates the right way to skin a hog and cook it. As Jesse explains, "The critters in the photo include Houdini Hog (the one water trick he couldn't escape), Eric Muller (standing), and me. I wish I could recall what we were listening to. Rebel Fastpitch Softball Goes 2-1 In Mississippi State Fall Fest Oct. 6, 1997 Starkville, Miss. The Ole Miss women's fastpitch softball team came back from deficits in the first two games Saturday at the Mississippi State Fall Fest tournament, but the Rebels were unable to do it a third time. The Rebels defeated the Mississippi University for Women 6-4 in the first game and went on to a 4-3 victory over Jacksonville State (Ala.) only to fall to Mississippi State in the tournament finale, 1-3. "I was absolutely pleased with what I saw from our group," head coach Joyce Maudie said. "Probably the most important thing I was impressed with was the competitive spirit of our team, especially based on the fact that we are only in our first three weeks of our fall schedule." Against MUW, senior Holly Mitchell knocked in the tying and go-ahead runs with two outs in the seventh inning as the Rebels rallied from a two-run deficit to win 6-4. Jamie Cummings retired the side in the bottom half of the inning to preserve the win. History [Copied by Lory Brasel, lbrasel@leagent.net , from the book "History of Otter Tail County" Volume I - 1916 by John W. Mason] TUMULI TOWNSHIP. Tumuli township was first known by the name of Union, having been established under that name by the board of county commissioners September 8, 1869, being the third organized township in the county. The township continued under its original name until May 10, 1870, when it was changed to Tumuli by an order of the commissioners. It is not shown in the record when and where the first election was held, but it is presumed that an election was held and officers elected soon after the organization of the township. The petition for the organization of the township was signed by the following residents of congressional township 131, range 42. From the heading of the petition it is evident that some of the voters, or, at least, those who wrote the petition heading, were uncertain as to whether the county was organized at that time. They had an understanding that the county organization had been effected and that “officers were officiating in their several capacities,” and so they prepared the following “partition” for presentation to the “humble body of county commissioners.” It is here given as it appears in the original document:
