Impersonators took part in a concert on Wednesday
Elvis Presley, whose fans are preparing for the 25th anniversary of his death on Friday, has been voted the world's greatest rock and roll star, by a huge margin. Presley won almost 10 times as many votes as his nearest rival, being named by almost 40% of people in the United States survey. A host of Elvis events are taking place during the week
Jimi Hendrix was next, on 4%, while John Lennon, Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen were among a host of legends with 2%. Up to 100,000 Elvis fans are expected to converge on his Graceland home, where a candlelit vigil will start on Thursday to mark the anniversary. The poll, for US television network ABC, also found that nine out of 10 people thought the star had a lasting impact on US culture. But only half said they were fans, while six out of 10 said he was a bad role model.

Commemorate Martin Luther King Day with Pizzazz!
There could be no richer way to acknowledge Martin Luther King Day than to celebrate and explore the remarkable music for organ by African-American composers in a special annotated recital by the renowned concert artist, Dr. Mickey Thomas Terry, PhD. This unique and exciting program will be presented on Monday, January 20, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Leo the Great (2055 Bohland Avenue in the Highland Park area of St. Paul, 651-698-5581) on the 56-rank 1985 Schantz organ. Dr. Terry, editor of the new and acclaimed African-American Organ Music Anthology , issued by MorningStar Music Publishers, is responsible for bringing to press previously unpublished works by such composers as Thomas Kerr, Mark Fax, Betty Jackson King and many others. A recitalist that "...plays with zeal and intelligence, with equal parks passion and poetry" (PIPEDREAMS, Minnesota Public Radio), Dr. Terry will share his musical talent as well as give background and context for this remarkable repertoire. A resident of Washington, D.C., Dr. Terry has concertized throught the United States including the Kennedy Center, the Piccolo-Spoleto Festival and the American Guild of Organists national conventions in New York City and Denver.

The following maps were developed at the March 26th meeting. Residents identified areas they liked and disliked. Areas identified as problem areas are designated in red, whereas areas in green are types of areas residents appreciated and would like to see more of. In this excercise, students and attending faculty acted as facilitators. Impresssions and facts were diligently recorded for future use. The information we gathered during this exercise allowed us to identify areas that residents appreciated (which we could look at as a model for future designs), and which areas needed the most work.
