From Marx to Maharishi: New Swindles for Old
A "Reactionary" View in Eight Paragraphs
Dr. Joseph Keller
When Negro youth go bad, they become robbers. When Jewish youth go bad, they become swindlers. When Nordic youth go bad, they sometimes become President. This essay is about swindlers. When the world got sick of the swindle called Marxism, swindlers needed a new swindle to replace the old. The diamond trade, which forces American men to indenture themselves, for oversize pieces of industrial grit, was already saturated. So was central banking, which in America already had stolen from public officials, the privilege of issuing fiat money. Where would Marxist Jewish youth find new jobs? Remembering that Edward I had expelled Jews from England for their inability or unwillingness to ply honest trades, some Jews made a movie ("Braveheart") libeling Edward. This made them feel better, but did not solve their problem. Communism wasn't Marx's invention; it was so well known in ancient Greece that it was lampooned in a popular comedy by Aristophanes. Similarly, the key equations of the greatest work of the greatest Jewish scientist, Einstein, originated on the blackboard of an Irish professor. Some older texts call the equations, the "Fitzgerald - Lorentz transformation". The German professor, Planck, who invented quantum theory, introduced the name, "theory of relativity". So, "Einstein's" theory of relativity was invented by an Irishman and named by a German.

home page: www.utdallas.edu/~harpham At the heart of modern political thought lies an ongoing debate about capitalism. What is a capitalist economic system? What social, political, and moral relations flourish alongside a capitalist economy? Does a capitalist economy promote freedom for the individual or merely provide the framework for one class to exploit another? How does change in a capitalist society affect democratic political institutions? Is big government the solution to problems in a capitalist economy, or the problem itself? How are we to understand the larger historical significance of the breakup of communist regimes throughout the world? How has globalization changed the world in which we live? This course will address such questions through a reading of the works of Bernard Mandeville, Adam Smith, Karl Marx, Joseph Schumpeter, and Thomas Friedman. The course will be structured around three great debates that have shaped our understanding of capitalism over the past 300 years: the debate over morality, self-interest and markets in the eighteenth century; the debate over technological change in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; and the debate over globalization in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.

    Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, 1809-1865.
French socialist -anarchist. To his own question, "What is property?", Proudhon answered famously, "Property is theft!". Proudhon called for a complete reorganization of modern society that abolished most of its trappings - including money and the state itself. He advocated communitarianism as the form of reorganization of society. He argued that "goodwill" would emerge naturally once these "social constructs" were gone. Karl Marx directed his Poverty of Philosophy (1847) directly against Proudhon. Léon Walras (1860) also had a go at a critique of Proudhon. How to Ensure that Your Work Does Not Alienate You
The Continuing Story of Today's Events

Special Edition Issue 15 By Simon Jacobson December 20, 2001 And Joseph could control himself no longer (Torah portion this week - 45:1)
I am the Omnipotent G-d of your father. Do not be afraid to go to Egypt, for it is there that I will make you into a great nation. I will descend into Egypt with you, and I will also bring you back and ascend with you (46:3-4) Israel settled in Egypt, in the Goshen district. They acquired property there and were fertile, with their population increasing very rapidly
(Haftorah this week - Ezekiel 37:19-22,25) Macrocosm/microcosm: Just as Jacob reconciles with his brother Esau after building his family in Charan, Joseph reconciles with his brothers after building his family in Egypt and establishing himself there. He spearheads the huge business of Egypt, selling grain to the famished nations in return for their money. The great wealth Joseph generates turns Egypt in a superpower, the most powerful empire of its time. see essay special edition #12 ). Joseph and his brothers, on the other hand, make peace and stay together for the rest of their lives. Only later, would their rift manifest itself again, in the split between the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah.

    Proudhon, Pierre Joseph (1809-1865)
From his study of history and observation of the world, Proudhon derived a 'serial dialectic'. Everything in the world is 'serial' - i.e. is differentiated, divided, graduated and graded, but also coordinated, articulated, grouped; everything is multiple, everything is synthesis. The 'series' is a 'whole composed of elements arranged according to a certain reason or law'. 'Serial dialectic' is a 'law' of progression and organization, a general process of growth common to matter and spirit, to man and society. An antinomic dialectic, it unfolds as a chain of antinomic pairs whose opposition is the source of all movement and cannot be resolved into synthesis. Such a dialectic of tension, or of the 'balancing of opposites', is thus fundamentally opposed to the Marxian dialectic of synthesis. Labour is the real measure of exchange value, the only standard by which different products can be compared. The substance common to wages, investments, capital and profits is that they are either objectified labour or accumulated labour. Supply and demand are simply 'iMments tradueteurs', (translating factors) constantly disrupted by monopolies, fraud, speculation ete., and do not allow use value (utility) and exchange value (Iabour costs) to be objectively comparcd. For the 'law of proportionality of values' to be respected, a 'constituted value', a synthesis of use value and exchange value, must be created; 'society's accounts' must also be drawn up, labour seientifically managed and the structure 'socialized'.
