Antonio Salieri Life Photo Gallery Home Page Antonio Salieri Life He studied with Gassmann and others in Vienna, and also knew Gluck (who became his patron) and Metastasio. In 1774 he succeeded Gassmann as court composer and conductor of the Italian opera; from 1788 he was also court Kapellmeister. He made his reputation as a stage composer, writing operas for Vienna from 1768 and presenting several in Italy, 1778-80. Later he dominated Parisian opera with three works of 1784-7; Tarare (1787), his greatest success, established him as Gluck's heir. In 1790 he gave up his duties at the Italian opera. As his style became old-fashioned his works lost favour, and he composed relatively little after 1804, but he remained a central and influential figure in Viennese musical Iife. His many pupils included Beethoven Schubert and Liszt There is little evidence of any intrigues against Mozart , still less of the charge of poisoning. Salieri's circa 40 Italian operas are traditional in their emphasis on melodic expression, but they also show Gluck's influence, with dramatic choral writing, much accompanied recitative and careful declamation: some combine seria and buffa elements. Among his many other compositions are oratorios, church music, cantatas, arias, vocal ensembles, songs and orchestral and chamber works.

Gassmann Wiener Musiklebens bekannt machte ( unter anderem P. Metastasio und C. W. Gluck ) 1766 nach Wien; ab 1770 Opernkomponist mit wechselndem Erfolg; 1774 im Alter von 24 Jahren Hofkompositor, 1788 Hofkapellmeister. Hatte 1784-87 große Erfolge in Paris, wurde als Nachfolger C. W. Glucks gefeiert und galt als " musikalischer Papst" Wiens. Nach dem Tod Josephs II. zog er sich immer mehr aus dem Salieri Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien (Erarbeitung der Statuten des Konservatoriums) und stellte das musikalische Wiener Kongress Schubert , L. von Beethoven , F. Antonio Salieri Antonio Salieri (Legnago 18/08/1750 Vienna 27/05/1825) Musicista, compositore, didatta. Studiò violino con il fratello Francesco e clavicembalo e organo con Simoni organista del paese. A 15 anni, sotto la protezione della famiglia Mocenigo, si recò a Venezia: studiò canto col Pacini e composizione con Pescetti. Qui conobbe L. Gassmann, maestro della cappella imperiale, il quale lo condusse a Vienna e lo seguì come un figlio dandogli anche un'ottima istruzione musicale e letteria. Successe a Gassmann nel 1774 come compositore di corte e direttore d'orchestra del teatro imperiale. Tra i numerosi viaggi ricordiamo la sua presenza a Milano dove partecipò all'inaugurazione del Teatro Alla Scala (1778) con l'opera Europa Riconosciuta. La collaborazione con il musicista Gluck lo portò a comporre quel grande capolavoro " Les Danaides Nel 1788 successe a Bonno come maestro della cappella di corte. Fu presidente della Tonkunstler Societat (società delle vedove e orfani dei musicisti, fondata da Gassmann nel 1771), fin al 1818.

Nella capitale austriaca conobbe Gluck e Metastasio. Scrupoloso rappresentante della maniera italiana settecentesca, curante gli accenti, il fraseggio e l'accompagnamento orchestrale, si guadagnò a Vienna una posizione centrale nella vita musicale cittadina. Tra il 1788 ed il 1824 venne insignito della carica di Kapellmeister alla corte viennese. Sotto l'influenza di Gluck, da cui cercò di carpire i segreti della tragédie lyrique fra il 1784 e il 1787 ottenne a Parigi un grande successo con tre lavori che si adattavano al gusto parigino. Basilio's Homepage Antonio Salieri Guestbook Contactar al autor Este compositor, nacido en Legnano , Italia, el 19 de agosto de 1750, es citado frecuentemente como el personaje que más intrigó contra Mozart Con Mozart fue diferente; no solamente por tratarse de un gran genio, sino porque podía desplazarlo y era, al mismo tiempo, más joven; sus recursos cortesanos le dieron el triunfo, aun cuando sólo fuese pasajeramente; en la actualidad cada quien está en su lugar. Salieri inició sus estudios musicales con su hermano Francisco, que era violinista; más tarde continuó con el organista Simoni, hasta que, en 1765, ingresó al internado de la basílica de S. Marcos, en Venecia, donde tuvo por maestros a Pesceti y al tenor Pacini. Radicándose en Viena, en 1766, continuó sus estudios con Florian Leopoldo Gassmann, quien le facilitó la representación de la opera cómica antes citada, y que gustó mucho al emperador. Escribió alrededor de 40 óperas, 3 oratorios, 5 misas, un Réquiem, 4 Te Deum, más de 200 cánones, (de 2 a 4 voces), motetes, una sinfonía, un Concierto para órgano y otras piezas más.
