INTRODUCTION PAGE
View Data On Page Two The information contained on this page is derived from the book, published in 1887 and compiled by Israel P. Warren (A Stanley Descendant), entitled "The Stanley Families of America As Descended From John, Timothy, and Thomas Stanley of Hartford, CT. 1636". There are numerous errors and/or omissions in the original book in regards to the assignment of numbers to the descendants, in dates of birth, dates of death, and in the names of several descendants. Those known errors have been corrected. As with the book, the aim of this page will not be to closely follow the ramifications of descent outside of the Stanley name . The Stanley daughters, who by marriage lost that name, became, by so doing, incorporated into other family lines, many of them of high position and repute. There are 4525 descendants listed in the book, not including spouses, parents of spouses, children with last names other than Stanley, and descendants born after publication of the book in 1887.

Thanks goes to screenwriters Sulka and Franklin for maintaining a pretty lively line-up of homicides and to director Skogland for not failing to demand from his cinematographer all those graphic close-ups.

72. John Stanley: A Concise Biography
Portrait, life and work of this blind composerorganist in London. Music samples from his opus 2 concertos for harpsichord/organ and strings.
http://www.baroquemusic.org/bqxstanley.html
BAROQUE COMPOSERS AND MUSICIANS John Stanley
John Stanley was born in London on 17th January, 1712. At about the age of two, he had the misfortune to fall on a marble hearth with a china basin in his hand, an accident which left him almost blind – apparently he was still able to distinguish colors and possibly some shapes. He began studying music at the age of seven. Under the guidance of Maurice Greene, composer and organist at St. Paul's Cathedral, he studied "with great diligence, and a success that was astonishing" (Burney). At the age of nine he played the organ, probably as an occasional deputy, at All Hallows, Bread Street. The organist died on 23rd September 1723 and exactly one month later eleven-year-old Stanley was appointed organist to the church at a salary of £20 per annum. The St. James's Evening Post reporting the event stated that Stanley "is become the Surprize of the Town for his ingenious Performance on the Harpsichord and Organ; and, in the opinion of good Judges, bids fair to equal, if not exceed the Merit of his celebrated Predecessor." When he was fourteen "in preference to a great number of candidates" (Burney) he was chosen as organist at St. Andrew's, Holborn and at the age of seventeen became the youngest person ever to obtain the Bachelor of Music degree (B.Mus.) at Oxford University.

COMMENTARY Dennis Willis Juli Tolleson CONTACT US SOUNDWAVES S T O R E CAST: Stacy Galina, Alexis Arquette, Adam Wiley, Greg Vaughan, Eva Mendez, Ahmet Zappa, Angela Jones SCR: Ethan Wiley DIR: Ethan Wiley STUDIO: Dimension Home Video Viewers, lend me your ears. That isn't as corny as it sounds. When a character puts his ear to the ground in this movie, it's permanently. This is a body-count shocker. If you're going to make a body-count shocker, then make each death a gas or a gas-and-a-half. Anyway, that's the let's-entertain-them theory of gore-auteur writer-director Wiley. Got your tally sheet? Here we go: A farmer goes out into torrents of rain with his shotgun to check his stock and immediately gets levitated by a little kid whose eyeballs spit fire. The futureless farmer is struck by bolts of lightning and charred to a crisp. The corpse, after rising off the face of the earth, falls from the sky and scrunches against the ground with an impactful thud. A woman in a cornfield is scythed to death. Bloody, and solemnly presented, as it were a religious ceremony. As Wiley would tell you, that's social relevance.

75. John STANLEY: Six Concertos For Organ/Harpsichord. CD $8.95
Full description of CD content, illustration, and music samples. Historic 1764 organ. Little Orchestra of London, Leslie Jones.

BMC 1 John STANLEY (1713-1786):
THE LITTLE ORCHESTRA OF LONDON,
Leslie Jones, Organist and Conductor
Harold Lester, Harpsichord

John Blow (1649-1708): A Voluntary for the Cornett Stop
Recorded in St. Mary's Church, Rotherhithe, London.
Organ by John Byfield 1764.
1. Concerto No 2 in b minor for Organ and Strings
Largo-Adagio - Allegro - Adagio-Allegro moderato - Adagio-Allegro – Allegro
2. Concerto No 4 in d minor for Strings, with harpsichord continuo
Adagio - Allegro - Andante – Allegro

3. Concerto No 5 in A Major for Harpsichord and Strings Largo-Allegro - Adagio - Allegro - Allegro moderato 4. Concerto No 1 in D Major for Strings with organ continuo Largo - Allegro-Adagio-Allegro - Allegro - Adagio - Allegro 5. Concerto No 6 in B flat Major for Harpsichord and Strings Adagio-Allegro - Largo - Allegro 6. Concerto No 3 in G Major for Organ and Strings Adagio-Allegro - Andante - Allegro 7. John Blow (1649-1708): A Voluntary for the Cornett Stop Total time 61:04 If you haven't heard these Concertos before – don't hesitate! Composed between 1742 and 1745 they are varied, tuneful, frequently contrapuntal, grand in the Handelian manner – and very baroque. Highly enjoyable and entertaining from start to finish. If you have heard them before, then you probably heard them in one of the versions for string orchestra – all six performed all on one sound and textural level as Six Concertos for Strings. The present recording takes a different approach. These concertos were entitled "For Strings and Continuo, or Keyboard and Continuo", and we took John Stanley at his word! In fact, when preparing the scores, conductor Leslie Jones found that some are more suited to Strings, some to Keyboard. In the end, conductor and producer settled on the following: two concertos as Organ with strings, two as Harpsichord with strings, and two for Strings, one with harpsichord continuo, the other with organ continuo.
