John Williams John Williams est né à New York le 8 février 1932. En 1948 il a déménagé avec sa famille à Los Angeles. Là-bas il étudiait à l’UCLA (Université de la Californie) et prenait des cours privés en composition chez Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Après son service dans l'Armée de l'air, M. Williams est retourné à New York pour fréquenter l'Ecole de Musique Juilliard où il a étudié le piano avec Madame Rosina Lhevinne. Pendant son séjour à New York il a travaillé aussi comme pianiste de jazz dans des clubs et pour des enregistrements. John Williams est retourné à Los Angeles où il a commencé sa carrière dans les studios de tournage en travaillant avec des compositeurs tels que Bernard Herrmann, Alfred Newman et Franz Waxman. Dans les années soixante il écrivit la musique pour beaucoup de programmes de télévision et gagna 2 Emmys pour son travail. En janvier 1980, John Williams fut nommé directeur du Boston Pops Orchestra, le dix-neuvième directeur depuis la fondation de l’orchestre en 1885. M. Williams est resté directeur du Boston Pops Orchestra même après sa retraite en décembre 1993. M.
