61. Hypothyroid
hypothyroid. hypothyroidism is the underproduction of the thyroid hormone. Low plasmalevels have been associated with a hypothyroid. Sea kelp, 10 tablets daily.
http://www.vitawise.com/Nutritional_Healing/hypothyroid.htm
A Self-Help Guide For Nutritional Healing Hypothyroid Hypothyroidism is the underproduction of the thyroid hormone. This is a very common condition. Symptoms include fatigue, loss of appetite, overweight, painful prementstrual periods, muscle weakness, dry and scaly skin, a yellow-orange coloration in the skin (particularly on the palms), yellow bumps on the eyelids, hair loss ( including eyebrows), recurrent infections, constipation, depression, slow speech, and myxedema (drooping, swollen eyes). the most frequent symptoms seen in those suffering from this disorder are intolerance to cold and fatigue. if a person is cold while others around him are hot, he is suffering from reduced thyroid function. A condition called Hashimoto's disease is sometimes the cause of an underactive thyroid. In this disease, the body becomes allergic to the thyroid hormone. By measuring the hormone levels in the blood, it can usually be determined if the thyroid gland is working properly. Problems with the thyroid can be the cause of many recurring illnesses and fatigue. Thyroid Self-Test To test yourself for an underactive thyroid, keep a thermometer by your bed one night. When you awake the next morning, place the thermometer under your arm and hold it there for fifteen minutes. Keep still and quiet. Any motion can upset your temperature reading. A temperature of 97.6 F or lower may indicate an underactive thyroid. Keep a log! If your readings are in this category, see your doctor.

62. Hypothyroid Graves' Disease
hypothyroid Graves' Disease. When measurements were done in the hypothyroidphase, all patients had positive TBII but negative TSI. Conclusions.

Hypothyroid Graves' Disease EMIL LESHO, DO, and ROBERT E. JONES, MD, Tacoma, Wash Abstract Background. Spontaneous conversion from hypothyroidism to hyperthyroidism has generally been considered uncommon. Methods. Values obtained were serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine, free thyroxine index, radioactive iodine uptake (RAIU), thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulins (TSI), and thyrotropin-binding inhibitory immunoglobulin (TBII). Results. Five patients spontaneously had a minimum of two cycles in thyroid function with extremes of hypothyroxinemia to hyperthyroxinemia. One patient had four documented cyclic shifts in thyroid status. When measurements were obtained in the hyperthyroid phase, all patients had TSI, increased RAIU, and an undetectable TSH. When measurements were done in the hypothyroid phase, all patients had positive TBII but negative TSI. Conclusions. Spontaneous reversal of thyroid function may be more common than previously thought. Clinical features associated with lability of thyroid function were abrupt change in goiter size, exaggerated response to therapy, or the presence of TSH-receptor antibodies. Over the period of observation, which lasted from 6 months to several years, the five patients in our series spontaneously had at least two cycles in thyroid function, with extremes of hypothyroxinemia to hyperthyroxinemia. One patient had four documented cyclic shifts in thyroid status. When tested in the hyperthyroid phase, all patients were found to have TSI, increased radioactive iodine uptake (RAIU), and an undetectable TSH. When tested in the hypothyroid phase, all had thyrotropin-binding inhibitory immunoglobulins (TBII) but no TSI.

hypothyroidism Hypothyroidism describes the clinical syndrome which results from a deficiency of circulating thyroid hormones; myxoedema is a severe form of this syndrome and usually applied to cases in which deposition of mucinous substances results in thickening of the skin and subcutaneous tissues. The prevalence is approximately 15 per 1000 in females and 1 per 1000 in males with a peak in the fifth or sixth decades. However, any age group may be affected. Onset is extremely insidious and symptoms may be unnoticed for several years. Lethargy, fatigue and physical and mental slowness are common presenting features in adults; in children, cretinism may result.

General Description
Hypothyroidism is an under production of thyroid hormone. The two hormones produced by the thyroid controls the body’s temperature, ability to burn calories, and energy usage. An under production of these hormones is a hypothyroid condition, while an overproduction creates a hyperthyroid condition. It is estimated that hypothyroidism affects over 13 million people in the USA and even more worldwide, 90% of which are women. One in eight women may develop a thyroid condition at some time in their life usually between the ages of 30 and 50.

70. HYPOTHYROID INFO
Some hypothyroid Info and Links DISCLAIMER I AM NOT A DOCTOR. THIS ISNOT MEDICAL ADVICE. Your symptoms could certianly be hypothyroid.
http://seafish.freeyellow.com/thyroid.html
Some Hypothyroid Info and Links
I've been hypo my whole life, but was only diagnosed this past year when I finally got dramatically ill during pregnancy. Believe me, if you are hypo getting onto medication is nothing to be afraid of - it will revolutionize your life! Things you believe to be simply personality traits (don't like crowds, or dont' like loud music, for example, or I'm not a morning person or I'm irritable for others) will change as dramatically as weight, hair, energy level and libido. Your symptoms could certianly be hypothyroid. A strong family history makes that even MORE likely! So here's HYPO 101. There are no options that I know of for those of us who are hypo other than horemone replacement. I looked around and asked around the alternative treatement community and online for a while, and came to the conclusion for myself that nothing seems to get the thyroid to start making horemones again. And without proper levels of horemone, your body literally falls apart. Without T3 especially, your body cannot repair tissue damage (which is why exercise leaves you sore for a week, and a cold puts you out of comission for a month). Basically your tissues get very toxic resulting in a hoast of problems including Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia (both of which respond impressively to T3/T4 medications). If you are hypo you NEED replacement - without it, you are going to get sicker - high or low blood pressure, elevated cholesterol are common to hypo womyn. Don't go there.

I was just diagnosed hypothyroid about 2 month ago. The reason I went to doc. was because I started having severe panic attacks. In addition I had been feeling quite sick prior to that. Example, low energy, mood swings, muscle aches, poor concentration, low temps, ect... I never expected a thyroid problem.
Now that I have been on Synthroid for approx. 7weeks I still feel bad, but in addition I've noticed that I have more symptoms. Example, sweating palms, shakiness, dizziness, irratibility, nausea, feeling like im going to pass out, sometimes I notice these feelings are worse when I go without eating for extented periods of time. I am a hairdresser, and sometimes we dont get a chance to eat on time.
I already called doc., but she is out over the holidays. I talked to the nurse, and requested a Glucose Tolerance Test. It was the only thing I could think to request. I'm not looking for you to diagnose my symptoms, but rather a suggestion of whether or not I'm on the right track. Should I ask for any other tests in addition to/ or in place of the Glucose Test.
