PSYCHOSOCIAL FACTORS IN SEXUAL DYSFUNCTIONS The factors that yields to the impairment of the normal patterns of sexual interest or response are often contributory rather than causal and may result from a complex interaction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible factors that may cause sexual dysfunctions. 40 male cases diagnosed as sexual dysfunction (according to DSMIV) within age range of 19 to 59 were included in this study. Cases were given a Data Form, Sexual myths evaluation form, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the State and Trait Anxiety (STAI 1-2) Inventory. Limited literature was used for comparisons rather than control group. Restrictive upbringing, absence of privacy, inadequate sexual information, traumatic “first experience”, negative job conditions were the factors seen most frequently in this study group. 27 out of 40 cases (%67.5) had their first experience in a brothel. This ratio seemed very high when compared with other studies. The ratio of acceptance of sexual myths was 64.85 % in total. The duration between the first symptom and application to the clinic was 6.4
