The Family and Child Psychology Research Centre
The Family and Child Psychology Research Centre was established by Professor Susan Golombok in 1989 to conduct research on parent-child relationships and the psychological development of children raised in non-traditional families. The work of the Centre includes studies of lesbian mother families, solo mother families and families with children conceived by assisted reproduction procedures such as in-vitro fertilisation, donor insemination, egg donation and surrogacy. The research increases understanding of the interactions between family structure and processes in these various family types. The studies also have practical implications for social policy making and clinical practice, for example, by addressing issues such as the effects on children of being raised by two parents of the same sex, and the impact on family relationships of secrecy about the child’s genetic origins.
Publications
Since its inception, the Centre has produced numerous publications on child development and family relationships in new family forms.

67. How To Become A Child Psychologist
that you have adequate experience with Children based upon your education and internship, then upon licensure you are able to practice child psychology .
http://www.childpsychology.com/misc/license.htm
How To Become a Child Psychologist
I receive many email request for information on how someone becomes a child psychologist. Here is some basic information. Fist, check your states requirements for licensure. In order to practice as a psychologist in any state, you must hold a license issued by that state. Each state may be a little different. Your best bet is to contact the licensing authority in the state in which you desire to practice. For example, if your objective is to end up practicing in California, you would check with the California Board of Psychology, and ask them to mail you information about licensing , or you can read the online summary posted at their web site. Keep in mind that each state is different, and you cannot practice in any other state unless licensed in that state. Note that a psychology license in most states is a generic license, and states do not license "child" psychologists, or clinical psychologists or any other specialty of psychology, they just license generic psychologists. When someone calls themselves a "child psychologist" they simply mean they are licensed as a psychologist, and then limit their practice to children. Hence if you want to be a "child psychologist" you would start by simply obtaining a generic psychology license by complying with the requirements for licensure in the state in which you desire to practice. Second, obtain the necessary educational background.

Resources for Students
For students who are completely unfamiliar with Piaget, the best place to start is with a good undergraduate textbook on child psychology. Read the section on Piaget (every text will have one). If that doesn't answer your question, try checking the "suggested readings" in the back of the text (most textbooks will have one), or the reference list. If you're still curious, try one of the more advanced readings listed below. Suggested readings for those interested in an introduction to Piaget's theories:
  • Bringuier, J.-C. (1980). Conversations with Jean Piaget. University of Chicago Press (original work published 1977) Chapman, M. (1988). Constructive evolution: Origins and development of Piaget's thought. Cambridge University Press. Psychological Review, Piaget, J. (1964).

"The future of any society depends upon the character and competence of its young. In order to develop their competence, young people need guidance to provide them with direction and a sense of purpose. They need relationships that embody and communicate high standards. They need to experience activities that are challenging, inspiring, and educative. Many of the conditions for the development of character and competence in the young have deteriorated in recent years. Instead of finding guidance and clear standards, young people often encounter inattention, low expectations, cynicism, or community conflict. In many places, families, schools, religious institutions, and neighborhoods have weakened. Mass media transmit messages that are confusing at best and corrupting at worst. All of these conditions must be changed if we are to create a society where youngsters can attain their full potential. The future of our society depends upon it."
