OUR BELIEFS
Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These beliefs, as set forth here, constitute the church's understanding and expression of the teaching of Scripture.
Revision of these statements may be expected at a General Conference session when the church is led by the Holy Spirit to a fuller understanding of Bible truth or finds better language in which to express the teachings of God's Holy Word.
1. The Holy Scriptures: The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration through holy men of God who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to man the knowledge necessary for salvation.
The Holy Scriptures are the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the authoritative revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God's acts in history.

11/12/02 - By popular demand, the Guestbook is back in business.... Let us know what is going on in your world. 10/6/02 - OK, I give up on the forums. It seemed like a good idea, but if nobody else thinks so, so be it. I will soon have the Guest Book back up and running. Also, added a web log that will contain lots of miscellaneous stuff. Look for our pics of Sukkot at Bell Cow Lake in Oklahoma. We had a great time. 8/22/02 - Yet one more stab at curing the Menu Blues. I think you will like this one. 5/22/02 - Added a new page under the Miscellany section for Israel and Mideast News. 5/19/02 - Chag Sameach Shavuot! Disabled the old guestbook and instituted the speedy new forums. Try it, you'll like it. 2/10/02 - Numerous word studies are being added that use Hebrew fonts. To view these properly, go to http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/aruniupd.aspx to download from Microsoft. In the near future I hope to have font embedding implemented so that for users of Internet Explorer, you won't have to download and install the fonts. We will keep you posted on that front. 2/10/02 - The Guest Book has been broken for awhile..... sorry, it's been fixed now.

PROGRESSIVE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS Dedicated to helping SDA's change the church for the better Many of the articles contained here can be used to correct some of the many errors which are plaguing the current SDA church. There is a strong undercurrent within the body of the church from those who label themselves as traditional/ historical Seventh-day Adventists. While we recognize their right to believe as they choose, we would like to save the church from some of the consequences which their beliefs may cause. IDENTIFICATION The effects of a drug or alcohol addiction can be devastating to family members and friends, as well as to the abuser. Sometimes we do not know what signs and symptoms to look for or what kinds of effects the drug can have on an individual. Specifically, this article will examine the problem of addiction as it exists in society and the church, describe some of the more common addictions seen among Adventists, discuss why people become addicted, suggest an alternative approach to approaching addictions within the church, explore the effects of addiction on the family, and offer some suggestions for dealing with an addicted person. The chapter concludes with recommendations on where to go for help in dealing with addiction. (For a discussion on the signs and symptoms of drug or alcohol use in teens, as well as how to prevent drug and alcohol use in adolescents, see the chapter titled "Kids and Drugs."

Seventh-day Adventist Church Founding: The Seventh-day Adventist Church was officially organized May 21, 1863, with around 3,500 members. William Miller founded the interfaith Millerite movement on whose doctrine the Adventist Church first formed. Three key leaders arose from this group to found what eventually became the Seventh-day Adventists: James and Ellen White and Joseph Bates.
