C oven of C ythrawl faery Wicca Also referred to as the fae, fey, feri, faerie, fairy, and fairie tradition. Founded by Victor and Cora Anderson in the mid-late 1950’s, when they were inspired to form their own tradition after reading a book by Gerald B. Gardner Witchcraft Today” Anderson was responsible for writing most of the tradition’s rituals, which he initially based on fairy folklore and beliefs, he is still universally recognized as the Grand Master of the Faery Tradition. In 1959, Victor initiated the late Gwydion Pendderwen, who then aged 13, would later become a leading voice in the Faery Tradition. An old African priestess initiated Victor Anderson into Witchcraft in 1926, they practiced a form of Witchcraft with Huna and African influences, and which was primarily Dahomean-Haitian. Anderson is now one of the last genuine Kahuna. Some of these earlier influences he incorporated into the new Faery tradition. Pendderwen after visiting with an Alex Sanders coven in England, incorporated material from the Alexandrian Book of Shadows Today the tradition has evolved and contains of a mixture of Green Wicca, Celtic and Druidic practices, as well as modern Witchcraft.

A Teaching of the Faery Tradition
Alone , awesome, complete within her self, the Goddess, She whose name cannot be spoken, floated in the Abyss of the outer darkness, before the beggining of all things. And as she looked into the curved mirror of black space, She saw by her own light the radiant reflection, and fell in love with it. She drew it forth by her power and that was in her made love to herself, and called Her "Miria, the wonderful".
Their ecstasy burst forth in the single song of all that is, was, or ever shall be, and with the song came motion, waves that poured outward and became all the spheres and circles of the worlds. The Goddess bacame filled with love, swollen with love, and she gave birth to a rain of bright spirits that filled the worlds and became all beings.
But in the great movement, Miria was swept away, and as She moved out from the Goddess She became more masculine. First She became the Blue God, the gentle, laughing God of Love. Then she became the Green One, vine-covered, rooted in the earth, the spirit of all growing things. At last She became the Horned God, the Hunter whose face is the ruddy sun and yet as dark as death. But always desire draws him back toward the Goddess, so that he circles her eternally, seeking to return
in love.

The Irish American Faery-Faith Tradition
by Kisma K. Stepanich
We read of the pedigrees of the Shining Ones, the Tuatha De Danann, and learn from where they originated. We are given accounts of their druidry, knowledge, science, prophecy and magic. We read they ‘were expert in the arts of pagan cunning’. In the pages of this five-volume set we are shown a glimpse of the remnants of the Irish cosmology, their creation myth, and the beginning of the Shining Ones now obscurely veiled behind a fantasy term: fairy. Over the centuries the Shining Ones have left behind a plethora of tales, first recited as the folk-tale of Ireland, and later told as the fairy-tale world-wide. Their traditional ways survived in folk-memory, becoming the "superstitions" of Ireland. And up to modern times, there isn’t an Irish country dweller who doesn’t believe in the Faery, and perform some superstitious act at least once or twice a year. From these come the modern folk practices known as the Irish Faery-Faith. However, woven into these folk practices are the more sophisticated bhairdic practices, which include druidry, and which represented the basic societal structure of pagan Ireland.

The Basics
Feri Wicca is also known as the Feri Faith, or as Faery/Faerie/Fairy Wicca. It is a non-Gardnerian form of Wicca, though to the best of my knowledge it is considered to be a branch of British Traditional Wicca. According to Cora Anderson, the tradition was once known as Vicia ("Vee-chya"), a term related to the Italian La Vecchia Feri grew out of the worship of Victor Anderson learned from Harpy Coven (Bend, Oregon) in the 1930's. Other material was added over time. Feri combines skills, myths and tools from shamanic and African diaspora traditions, and from the ancient religions of Mesopotamia and classical Greece. Some teachers use material from Kabbalah, Satanism, Tibetan Buddhism, and even H.P. Lovecraft. When books on Wicca became more available in the 1960's and 1970's, Victor and Cora Anderson incorporated some aspects of Gardnerian and Alexandrian Craft as well. Feri is an experiential, ecstatic form of Wicca. Although it often puts a strong emphasis on sexuality, it is not necessarily a fertility religion like other branches of Craft. It is sometimes confused with the traditions of people like Kisma Stepanich, whose paths bear the same name. Other paths using the name Faery Wicca include some non-initiatory paths with a Celtic focus or a focus on the fae. These are also distinct from Feri Wicca.
